Here’s the very rough roadmap of what’s to come in the following updates until the end of HC2's development.
----Keep in mind, everything might be subject to change depending on feedback, new ideas, etc…---
Roadmap:
Update 12(August): Focusing on finishing the last side quest (quest 42), adding a new reminiscence room and using all the time left for adding new freeroam events where they're needed. If I find I haven't got enough time to add as much freeroam events as I wish, I will keep adding them in following updates until I'm satisfied.
After Update 12, I'll dedicate some updates to the endings (please read below):
I want to have 4 of them in total: Bad Ending (NTR), Revenge Ending, Good Ending (Non-NTR), and True Ending. If, as mentioned in Update 11, I actually add an extra side-quest for those who have finished all side stories, then I’ll probably implement a 5th ending tied to that particular quest, more focused on side-characters (just an idea for now, nothing set in stone quite yet).
About the endings:
Here comes the more controversial part. I know some of you might not be completely pleased by that idea, but I want to work on both HC2 and HC3 at the same time once comes the time to develop the endings. The main idea would be that I’d work on the technical and visual aspects of HC3 along with the endings of HC2.
For HC3, this would mean: making the main maps, designing the characters, the combat system (with an option to turn off random encounters and to skip it entirely), the main mini-game (a variant of FF8’s Triple Triad), and the rough outline of the story. As such, you guys wouldn’t have to wait 3 months after the end of HC2 to get your hands on HC3’s demo. Sure, this would mean a bit less content per Update after Update 11, but it beats having to wait 3+ months with no content at all, right? : )
Another advantage of this : If I start HC3’s development earlier, it would give more time for the visual artists to prepare all the needed assets such as pixel sprites, portraits, some original monster drawings and more for the Triple Triad card game, voice acting for the moans, etc…to be ready for the demo.
Since I don’t know how long all of this will take, I cannot give a definite roadmap for this part. Just know that I aim for at least one ending per update, a bit more fleshed out than the ones I made for HC : Chapter 1.
Sorry this roadmap isn’t more detailed and precise. I wish I knew exactly what every update would be like, but I’d rather not make any promises. I don’t want to rush the game and make it worse than it could have been. Me and you have invested too much in that game for it to be just average, right? I hope you’ll continue to support me not necessarily with your hard-earned money, but also with your kind and encouraging messages. I’m grateful for everything : )
