A thought occurred to me - fish breathe dissolved oxygen in the water, not by chemically breaking it down. If Aya's "minimum breathable oxygen percentage" in her lungs were somehow, someway to ever reach the level of dissolved oxygen in seawater, than... well then, she could literally breathe seawater, literally breathing water. If that were somehow to happen, than, Aya would essentially be a mermaid and able to stay underwater for hours, until she gets thirsty. -Highly- unlikely of course, probably won't ever happen.

She needed the construction with large "air bucket" to be able to explore anything down there. So it was about 80-100 meters. Luckily she stayed short enough down there not to suffer from decompression sickness when ascending now. However she needed to breatge badly already the moment the bucket broke...
