Miyako Diaries 18: While I Wait (Patreon)

Aya is with her fisherman dad today at the docks of Hisamatsu. They had sailed together from Hirara Port, a few kilometers to the north, where Dad usually docks. Dad was looking for a new boat - a small one but with a good fridge and hopefully with a slick engine. While Dad negotiated with some locals, Aya decided to take a dip from the bulwarks.

The water was a bit chilly but felt good. There was no one in her sight, and as she swam out the voices of Dad and his sellers could no longer be heard. Although she was enjoying herself, Aya felt prompted to leave for home early. Chihaya was heading back to the city in a few days and Aya wanted to spend time with her. After she leaves - Aya knew school will be fine and her Miyako Diaries will continue, but it will be still be different. She will be waiting, again.
