I like that smirk Aya has in that last panel. Which seems like a new expression for her (or maybe it’s just a new art style by Saver)

Whatever happened to “Even during extremely long dives, and after she knew her cardio would start to fail, she could remain completely awake and sane”? I don’t believe for a second that Aya has accomplished something underwater that Saki isn’t capable of, though I’ll admit the Shrine Maiden doesn’t have nearly as expansive a résumé when it comes to revitalizing herself (she simply holds her breath as long as it takes, normally). As this can’t be a blackout (see: her head is still above water; she MUST still be kicking), technically Saki just won the competition! Now I’d get Tomokazu in the water and help the girls back to the boat!

Well I would say that this competition got disqualified after Saki did dive beyond the set marker at 200 meters depth. Which the cousin did reach first meant you.

“Whoever that dives the deepest the longest, with no blackout wins” were Eri’s conditions, even if she only imagined that they would go 200 meters down. Then again, later, once the girls disappeared from the sonar, she was more exasperated than worried, which suggests she had an idea of what they would end up doing. The navy veteran didn’t really become concerned until the competitors hadn’t reappeared for several minutes of dive time.

Well Eri did also say “But I’ll also place a cap on all of you. Once you hit this plate THE GAME IS CALLED. Whoever just grab this plate and ascend as fast as you can. I’ll declare the winner. Clear?” And Chihaya was the one who did grab the plate

Exactly why I pointed to evidence suggesting Eri knew, or at least guessed, that the girls would go way beyond said ‘cap’. The limiter was meant as caution on the Navy veteran’s part. Where is the plate, anyway? Is it still jostling around inside Chihaya’s suit? There’s really only one area that isn’t skintight enough to hide it…

Well yes Eri did know this as she said “I knew it! I knew this would happens.” But she also said “should have tied their ankles to a rope, really.” Afterwards which means that Eri doesn’t approve of this. Well I can only find of one possible hiding area where she could have put that plate. If that is what you’re referring too? ;)
