An Arcanist in Karakura Town

Chapter 60

-VB-

Wiggly.

Jiggly.

Orihime allowed herself to just “float” on top of the giant slime that her husband kept as a experiment-pet.

She giggled as Wiggly lightly bounced up and down, making both her and Sora gently rise up and down. Kind of like a rocking chair except it went up and down instead of front to back.

Her son cooed quietly with his eyes and closed and resting on top of her chest, and she felt a smile naturally form on her lips as she stared at him. She put her hand on his back and ran it down his back over and over again, making him coo. She giggled at his reaction to just being stroked.

Then Wiggly rumbled.

“You want to be patted, too?”

It rumbled again.

She patted the giant slime with her free hand, and it trembled appreciatively. She giggled.

Orihime knew that Wiggly was supposed to be some kind of superweapon against spiritual beings. Even if it was supposed to be a weapon, she couldn’t help but play with it every so often. It definitely had its own likes and dislikes, preferred “nesting” places, and even favorite and hated types of food; it liked meaty, spicy food and hated anything too watery like jello and watermelon. That said, Wiggly didn’t dislike soups, especially if she made them extra spicy.

Alan had said something about making more of its kind but ultimately ended up not doing so. Something about being too resource intensive.

She was fine with that. Wiggly was a good … guard dog? Pet?

Dog?

It didn’t behave like a cat, so it wasn’t a cat at the very least.

All she knew was that Wiggly was a good member of their family. And the way Wiggly mimicked her, Tatsuki, and Alan when it stroked and patted Sora and Sai and looked after them was just … endearing.

Wiggly might not understand everything but it did its goshdarn best to try.

And that was all she could ask for.

… And feared for it a little. Not of it but for it. Wiggly had been a constant companion in the house ever since Alan showed him off to the annoying onmyouji, who still came around to bug Alan once in a while.

‘I mean, they kind of mean well about it?’ she thought to herself as Sora cooed again. This time, it felt like his diaper just got a little bit heavier than before. She gently got off of Wiggly and walked over to the dedicated diaper station that Alan made over the course of a day long before either Sei or Sora was born. It had dedicated drawers for even things she didn’t think about before. Like the nasal … nasal … the nose booger sucker.

He even had sections in that drawer for clean and dirty ones.

As for the trash can…

Wiggly scooted over and waited patiently.

Orihime giggled.

Tatsuki sighed as she sat in the chair while Alan stood behind her, his hands expertly kneading at her shoulder to undo the muscle knots that had been bothering her for the past two days.

Taking care of children was not what she thought it was like. Oh, for sure, she had expected a lot of sleepless nights and whatnot, but she certainly did not expect to feel so tired and out of it. She almost cried for no reason several times, too. Her! The tomboy of Karakura Town crying for seemingly no reason!

Apparently, this was expected to a degree. Alan said this was something called postpartum depression, and, well, life sucked with it. And it was supposed to last over a year?

Yeah, no. She didn’t imagine herself having another kid any time soon. Maybe in half a decade or something once she forgot what this felt like but in the next few years? Hell no.

That said, sex was great and helped her at the worst of times.

But too much sex was not a good thing.

Alan didn’t agree, but she had the pussy and he didn’t!

In all seriousness, tired sex didn’t make for a fun sex, and babies made everyone tired.

Alan, despite her initial fears, was a pretty good dad. He took over the care of the two babies when Orihime and she wanted to rest. Spent a lot of time taking pictures. And even made … plans for investment, though she wasn’t sure how well that was going to play out since he hasn’t made any investments yet nor did she know about how much money he had.

Not that she really cared about those because what she cared about was if either Sei or Sora would have to deal with the spiritual bullshit that seemed to plague the town.

“So what’s the plan?” she asked him.

“Hmm?”

“Come on, Alan,” she grinned tiredly. “You’re always working on something, and the people who attacked us for a week straight - they’re the Quincies, right? Kind of like Uryu - aren’t the type to give up just because you stopped them once with that scary portal of yours. They’re going to come back like bullies do. I’ve watched them try to mess with Ichigo long enough to see that’s what’s going to happen in the future. So what do you have in the works? What’s the plan?”

He looked down at her and then smiled.

“What’s your thought about traveling across the multiverse while leaving an unpleasant surprise behind for the Hollows, Shinigamis, and the Quincies?”
