Can Pokemon into Naruto?

Chapter 9

-VB-

“Umm… I don’t see any chakra, sensei.”

Hinata almost flinched when Kurenai-sensei turned to look at her. “What do you mean by that? We clearly saw them use chakra just now.”

“T-There’s none. They are not using chakra to do whatever it is they do,” she replied.

Because she honestly could not see any chakra beyond the bare minimum that most regular people had. Well, regular people who weren’t in any ninja or samurai clans.

But even compared to regular people, those creatures and the man who walked with them had even less chakra.

“Does it matter?” Kiba asked while Akamaru barked out in agreement. “The guy’s obviously a ninja.”

“... Normally, it wouldn’t,” Kurenai-sensei spoke up. “But look at the creature breathing fire.”

They did. Its orange and yellow plumage stood out among the … brown, green, and gray color palettes that dominated most rural villages like this one.

They arrived at the village a few days ago, and have been observing their target for just as long.

Hinata didn’t think that he was anyone bad. He wasn’t hiding anything (not really) and seemed to be working with the villagers to make the village a better place.

“I believe that it changes the mission parameters, sensei,” Shino spoke up. “Why? Because we were under the assumption that our target was a missing nin from Sunagakure but the … fire chicken puts that assumption into question.”

“Not only that, but it has been breathing fire all day today but Hinata hasn’t seen chakra being used,” Kurenai-sensei nodded along and added her own perspective.

“So? Akamaru doesn’t use chakra all of the time,” Kiba grumbled. “Can’t we just go and take him down and drag him back home? It’ll be easier that way.”

“Fighting someone who is obviously a chunin-level combatant is not something I will do readily when I have a genin team with me, Kiba,” sensei scolded.

Hinata continued to look.

It was … fascinating, actually. Fascinating how a person with that much power was not a ninja or doing anything combat-related.

He was using his fire chicken to make charcoal!

The clay doll(?) like animal(?) was cutting whole trees down with clean cuts that wouldn’t be out of place on the battlefield.

And the man himself hauled logs that most genins would struggle with.

So why was he out here and not fighting? Why was he helping a village and not working at a bigger and better place like the capital city or Konohagakure?

“Then what are we going to do, sensei?” Hinata asked. “He doesn’t look and behave like a missing nin. You said you already checked his house, right?”

Kurenai-sensei frowned before closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose. “There was nothing linking him to any hidden village. Not even a single kunai.”

“So… we just go back home after traveling for kami knows how long?” Kiba groaned.

“No. I’m going to talk to him at least once and get a feel for his-.”

‘Oh shit, is that what she looks like under her illusion?’ I asked after baltoy alerted me to the disguised woman in front of me and showed me what he saw underneath the illusion.

Because I recognized the woman.

How would anyone familiar with Naruto not recognize Kurenai?

So how was I going to approach this conversation? She did just ask m-?

Her eyes narrowed and she acted.

She dispelled her illusion, making the villagers who had been around us to scatter.

“How did you know?” she demanded.

I stared at her before shrugging. “My little friend can look through illusions.”

Was telling the scary ninja lady with probably over a hundred deaths under her belt a good idea? Long-term, no. Short-term, yes, because I didn’t want her to feel threatened or angry enough to become hostile.

Because I was not prepared to fight a jounin ninja.

Torchic was barely durable enough to take a few tackle from baltoy, and baltoy was not strong enough to psychically hold Kurenai and what I assumed was Team 8 hiding out there somewhere.

And I was not strong enough to take on Team 8 (I think).

She glanced at baltoy before looking back at me. “Who are you, why are you here, and what do you intend to do?”

… Oh! She was trying to play straight with me! That’s a relief.

I let out a sigh of relief both because that’s what I felt and a show to the ninja in front of me. “Damn, you scared me for a second. I’m just here to live my life. If you’re asking if I was a ninja because of my friends, then no. I was never a ninja or trained by one or associate of one or been near one until you came around.”

She stared at me… and stared at me… and then nodded.

“Very well. But know that if you start trouble…”

“I know, I know. You scary ninjas will come out the shadows with your bloodied daggers.”

She raised an eyebrow before shunshining away, leaving me and the villagers alone.

“... Well, that went well.”

“Wait, that’s it?!” Kiba asked incredulously.

“He’s not ninja-trained in any manner or fashion,” Kurenai replied and then glared at her student. “If he was, then he was so well-trained that I couldn’t tell the difference between his natural and trained tells. Hinata, did you see anything odd?”

“No,” her first-ever student replied. “But I did see something floating between the clay doll and him.”

“I see. Must be how they communicated,” she hummed. “Alright. Pack up. We’re leaving.”

Kiba grumbled but he obeyed as did Hinata and Shino.

A single man and a pair of weird creatures was not a threat to the Land of Fire and Konohagakure, especially when he looked more focused on making charcoal than training his weird creatures.

I had to say… I was happy that the ninjas came and went without causing too much of a fuss, because their mere appearance had spooked the villagers.

But when they left without doing anything, they were also happy.

No trouble happened and that’s how it’ll stay!

I prepared to sleep in my new home and pulled the covers over my h-.

I stared up.

Something stared down.

Something that shouldn’t have been up there on the ceiling.

Baltoy acted before I could even shout. The figure dropped down toward me with kunais in their hands and -.

Froze.

Froze midair because baltoy had used Imprison to freeze them in place.

“T-Thanks, buddy,” I said as I quickly got out of the futon and away from the ninja. But I noticed something when I saw the ninja.

The headband.

It wasn’t a Leaf headband.

It was a Mist headband.

Oh boy.

“I … I think we should look into his mind, baltoy.”

My friend glanced at me before nodding. His closed eyes glowed with baleful purple light before the ninja’s eyes also glowed with the same light.

The ninja looked like he wanted to scream but imprison held him in place, including his mouth.

And what baltoy learned …

I needed to change how I ran things around here.
