Can Pokemon into Naruto?

Chapter 29

-VB-

Wimpod was close to evolving.

I could feel it.

“Come on, buddy! That’s it! Push against that border like it owes you food!”

Because my pokemon didn’t really care about money. Most of them didn’t even know what money was. But food? Everyone knew about food.

Wimpod squealed as he pressed its now larger but still small body against the knee-high boulder. Its shells reddened from all of the extra effort it was putting into pushing… and then he started squealing even higher as he put even more power behind his push.

Then all of his legs slipped in the wet rock below him and he tumbled forward, hit the boulder, and then tumbled backward.

I jumped forward and caught him before he could roll away, despite the fact that just a moment prior I was almost ten meters away.

“You did good, Wimpod,” I reassured my little guy as I set him down. “You couldn’t push that boulder just a week ago, and now you can.”

Wimpod looked down, though. He had grown powerful, in size, and in abilities, yes, but I also knew that he felt weak compared to his brothers and sisters. Beedrills, for example, were born alongside him, and yet they were already out there hunting, killing, and growing their hive while he was still here. Stuck. Weak.

Vulnerable.

I stroked his armored head, and he relaxed a little.

“Everyone grows at their own pace, Wimpod,” I told him. “Comparison is the thief of joy. A very, uh, good man with a good moustache said that. So be happy with your achievements so far and keep pushing. One day soon, you will be as strong as the rest of them.”

He looked up at me, and for a moment, he looked like he was going to be upset and pouty.

To my surprise, he perked and rushed back to the boulder.

I chuckled.

Maybe I should put a little bit more trust in my pokemon.

“YOOOOOOO!!!”

I winced when an explosion followed the battlecry, and looked over to my left.

Cleopatra, now a Combusken, pounded away at the weird giant bears that she dragged over a week ago after her evolution.

Apparently, they were wild animals with a bit of chakra in them that have been serving as her “training” partner, and Cleo decided they needed to be rewarded for their service. They were … civilized enough(?), so I let them into my little(?) group.

From the largest to the smallest, I named them Dora, Dune, and Doux because the largest was a girl, the smallest had an attitude, and the middle one was a sleepy head.

And they came wearing bowties.

I didn’t question that.

What I did question was how fast they were growing as they ate aura-infused berries.

Doux, for example, was the most motivated out of the three and challenged not just Cleo but other pokemon for spars at every chance he had. Baltoy did not appreciate being pulled away from his meditation, first by Cleo and now by a human-sized bear.

Cleo, on the other hand, showed a remarkable growth rate that made even Baltoy competitive.

‘As the oldest, it is my duty to be the shield for my family,’ he had told me once. ‘Even if most of them are annoying. And steal my snacks.’

Baltoy was dependable.

Man, I really needed to give him a name soon. Maybe I should name him after someone who was very dependable? A woman or man who was loyal to a fault. A bulwark. A …

“Hey, Baltoy?” I said as I looked over to my left.

Baltoy had been working on getting better control of his psychic talents. He put a stop to it and looked up.

‘Yes?’

“Would you like a name?”

He “blinked.”

‘I would.’

I nodded. “Then I want to bestow upon you the name of Robute, the name of a loyal man who stood as a bulwark for his people even when it was clear that they did not deserve it. Because he loved them more than that they were worth.”

He continued to stare at me for a while longer before nodding slowly. ‘I accept but I will be upset if you insist that you and the others are not worth my strength.’

I smiled. “See?” I replied. “Henceforth, you will be Robute the Baltoy.”

There was a pause … before Baltoy began to shine.

My eyes widened in surprise as his form changed underneath the blinding light. He grew wider and taller. And heavier. And yet, for all of that weight, he floated off the ground without even meaning to.

And when the light faded with a final burst of exaltation, Balt -. No, Robute the Claydol hovered above the ground. And he was massive. He probably stood taller than I stood, but his hovering made him look even bigger.

All of his eyes slowly opened… and he released a weighty psychic pressure that echoed out like a battlecry.

It was amazing.

It was awe-inspiring.

I now knew why trainers did what they did. There was an almost sacred and enlightening experience in seeing pokemon evolve. It -.

It was utterly ruined by Combusken barging in and demanding a battle.

Robute used just one of his eyes to glance at Cleo and gestured with one of his stubby arms to come and try.

She tried.

Psychic immediately took a hold of her and slammed her down into the ground with cratering pressure.

Robute released his power over her after just a while, and I walked over to glance at Cleo.

She stared up at the sky in both confusion and blankness.

Her face said it all.

What the fuck just happened? Why am I here? Who am I? Am I that weak?

It was the face of someone who fucked around and found out.

I laughed.

Chakra animals in Naruto can be pretty weird. Not as weird as One Piece ones, but they can be weird anyway. And they can grow to absolutely massive sizes. At this point, I also wonder if there are some massive bugs, like those in Forest of Death, around where the MC lives.
