Deck of Hearts BUGFIX v0.02a - 9/17/25 (Patreon)
Content
The last PoW twine update is still coming, but I've been making significant progress in renpy (via Deck of Hearts) for its eventual port. The Gallery System is now up and running, which you can use to visit scenes that you've previously unlocked (and don't worry, there's an unlock all button). You may discover some unique scenes in there as well, that are normally only accessible as you unlock achievements. Two of them are finished there (they have thumbnails so it's easy to see which ones are currently available).
In addition, I added the checkpoint mod to the quick buttons while you're playing (it's called Scene Save and Scene Load here) so if you don't want to use the gallery, you can still easily hop between labels to do whatever shenanigans you want.
In terms of content, there is now a lot more than the first demo had. You'll still have to make good use of the gallery + multiple playthroughs to see everything, but it's slowly becoming a real game. There's multiple interactions with different characters and the backgrounds can play a big factor in how a scene unfolds.
Finally, I kind of figured out how to do an android build. You'll have to let me know if it's a mess though since I have no way of testing it beyond renpy's emulator. Apparently, for iOS players, if you haven't already, you should just download an app that lets you play renpy games, because making builds specifically for iOS involves the apple store and I'm not bothering with that anytime soon.
One other note about the gallery. I didn't fully understand what I was doing with it in the first build since it was a work in progress, so unfortunately it won't retroactively remember what scenes you unlocked. This is the only time that'll be the case though, since the architecture is firmly in place (and will be for future games like renpy PoW as well!).
EDIT (Bugfix): There was a missing image and some quality of life features that didn't make it into the build (like the art button working in the gallery). That's been fixed, and I also added an autosave/quicksave page to make it easier to hop around routes.
