There are some videos you know you'll probably regret making.
- This is one of them.

That's right folks, I finally caved in to peer pressure and produced a video of a British Guy Reacting to a Japanese Guy Reacting to a British Guy Reacting to Japan.

Featuring an all star cast of half a dozen Youtube channels, including Ryotaro, Pete and George Japan, along with a few others which I randomly chose to react to.

I tried to take a balance approach to the subject, because I see the potential cultural value in these kind of reaction videos, but there's no doubt the trend has gotten out of hand in the past few months.

Keen to hear your thoughts on the subject! But for now, sit back and enjoy the video.
(I particularly enjoyed Pete Donaldson's performance).

I hope you've all had a great week so far. The weekend is finally in sight!

What I REALLY Think About Japanese Youtubers Reacting To My Videos

A few years ago I made a video called 12 Things Not Do in Japan. In the last few months dozens of Japanese Youtubers have reacted to it. By popular request, here's my thoughts on it all, as well as my reaction to their reaction of my reaction. Special thanks to George Japan for taking part! 🍿 GEORGE JAPAN: https://youtu.be/eu53N55LEOE 12 Things NOT To Do in Japan 🍿https://youtu.be/0GCuvcTI090 ► WEEKLY Podcast: http://hyperurl.co/nhgr30 ► BEHIND the scenes Patreon: https://goo.gl/NWEoQm **FOLLOW THE ADVENTURE** ► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abroadinjapan/ ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/AbroadInJapan ► Instagram: @abroadinjapan **EQUIPMENT I USE** ► MAIN Camera: https://amzn.to/2HSSdmy ► INDOOR Lens: https://amzn.to/2jyPOPm ► OUTDOOR Lens: https://amzn.to/2rnAt7O ► FAVOURITE Lens: https://amzn.to/2jwqyJm ► BACKUP Camera: https://amzn.to/2jvhILY ► STABILISED Camera: https://amzn.to/2HR3ljI Business Enquiries: [email protected]

You actually did it, you absolute madlad. The editing and collabs on this were GENIUS! Not at all what I expected a reaction to a reaction to a reaction to be. Massive kudos to you 👏. Edit: And yes, completely agree on your stance regarding reaction videos. I always found 99% of them to be super lazy and don‘t even get me started on „reaction channels“. It‘s a no from me.

I will say one thing about that video (the original AiJ one); it’s the one that found me. I was looking for something simple to give me an idea of Japanese etiquette for a holiday. I sat there pissing myself with laughter and watched the rest over a few months. And here I am. Clickbaity/listy stuff has introductory value and so so reactions; see each one as an extra few thousands/millions of adverts for your channel.

Mr Fujisawa

Dont mind the odd reaction video here and there, if there’s something to add!

There are always going to be haters and jealousy, otherwise, why would they have to do a review something that was so successful? When I lived in Japan, I wish that I would have known these small tidbits.

Bobby

This was a super fun video! And it was cool that your got one of the Reactors in your video to...react(there’s a reaction inception going on). Now you gotta react to this video later!

Hmmm so admittedly I have watched a few of these types of videos, mostly out of curiosity. I wanted to see a second opinion and if it was going to be valuable information or just rubbish. However, if I am completely honest, I think these kinds of videos are pretty boring. I don't really have much interest in watching a video of someone watching a video. I hope this trend goes away.

This was brilliant, not something I'd watch every time (I think yours was the first reaction video I've watched in months), I'd probably get really tired from watching just two or three but you managed to put a good twist on this one. George appearing for only a few seconds was gold and reacting to things that have nothing to do with the content itself, like how close Sarah's chin was to the edge of the video, was hilarious. Awesome video 👌

This is it, this is peak content in terms of reaction videos, it’s hard to top this off. Except for that real french guy, he’s on another level. LOL

Bec Evans

I really enjoyed how wonderfully meta that was! I knew it was never going to be a simple reaction video- but that was brilliantly surprising. 👏👏

I've got to ask what is the name of that sound when the video freezes and goes black and white?

Anonymous

Chris you've peaked, I don't know how you could possibly go up from here

That was hilarious! Loved it, very funny. Liked the inception part of it as well. Did you have prior contact with George to include him? And also what I really wonder.. Is it even legal to use someone else's video in your own? Can you not be copyright striked or something for that? Youtube is so strict with official music and stuff in video's, but they do allow these reaction video's without permission of the original creator? How the hell.... ???

I watched the video again. You should try to do one video without hand gestures.. :P

DinoKōyō

Wow Chris you did an excellent job with this one: hilarious video lovely old job.

Love this video so much, absolutely hilarious. I’ve seen so many of these reaction videos that I always wondered what you thought. Like your positive attitude as much as it is 😉 A very Good job well done.

It's transformative. Same way YouTubers can use clips of a movie or game to react or make commentary.

Looking forward to seeing a Japanese guy reacting to a British guy reacting to a Japanese guy reacting to a British guy reacting to Japanese culture! Great video Chris.

I really like the way that you did this video. You obviously put a lot of thought and work into something that could have been staring at a screen for 12 min.

Brooke

You crack me up 😂

Valerij Romel

Cool video as always. Seems like Pete put some effort into his video as well, but it was 9/10 since there's no sword in the background.

Ilyas

Honestly, this was one of your funniest videos you've ever made! Pete's eh...cameo appearance had me in stitches! Gotta say though, it's pretty clear that some of the youtubers are trying to piggy back off of your success instead of wanting to make a genuine video with any unique thoughts.

Eels

I thoroughly enjoyed that, by the way was that Joey's sword that he got for Christmas!?

Could it be the pensive scratching of chins demonstrated by the reacting commentators in their respective thumbnails is actually caused by injuries sustained on the corners of the Picture in Picture video?

Mr. England, Please use 1080 or 1081 or whatever it takes to get a nice sharp image of Dr. Jelly in a bathtub. Love the reaction insert of you reacting to you reacting to others reacting to you. Monty Pythonesque, I think. Seriously though I do not click on reaction videos typically unless I know who's doing the reacting and I value their opinion. I think it's a pretty cheap way of building views & subs. Also, your Sendai earthquake video is one of the finest productions I've seen on YouTube. I have only watched it a couple of times though because it elicits very strong emotions for me. Please keep up the good work.

I thought his plant placement was quite provocative 😂

I love George! I found it not so long ago and now really enjoy his videos. Of course Abroad in Japan is still my favourite YouTube channel 💖

Why did the Frenchman look like Pete Donaldson dressed up in a wig and beard?!?
