My god what a week!

Sorry for the extra few days it's taken to release this Patreon Exclusive episode guys, as well as the second part of our Wacky Weekend Winter Special, which actually just released moments ago on the Chris Abroad channel!

A couple of reasons; the first being you might have seen our Wacky Weekend Winter Special that went up a few days ago featuring snow monkeys, sake and a creepy tunnel actually got demonetised by Youtube for very bizarre and vague reasons.

As I mentioned on various rants on social media, while demonetisation sucks, the real downside is Youtube stops sharing and promoting your video across the platform, effectively burying the video. Case in point, the moment the video got demonetised, views went from 16,000 an hour to 3,000!

And when you've spent over a week shooting, editing and producing a video - putting your heart and soul into it - suddenly having it thrown under a bus for vague reasons isn't a fun experience. Honestly, I was absolutely gutted.

In my anger I went on Twitter and ranted so much that a ton of Youtube creators retweeted it enough that it caught the attention of Youtube itself, who contacted me directly and looked into the issue.

It turned out the issue came down to excessive swearing, which I was able to curtail using Youtube's editing tools, and successfully remonetise the video and get it seen once again. All in all, a happy ending, but it took up a few days to fix.

And it couldn't have come at a worse time given we're currently on the road shooting Journey Across Japan!

Shooting has just kicked off and so far so good - expect a daily diary in the next few days, sharing some of the chaos that's been going on here in Okinawa.

But before that, check out the Patreon Exclusive Behind the Scenes episode:

ALSO, as many of you guys often ask me for where it is we visit on Wacky Weekend and Journey Across Japan, I figured going forward, all of these trips will be accompanied by a slick Patreon exclusive itinerary, so you know EXACTLY where we stayed and what we did. If you think this sounds good, let me know!

For now though, enjoy the videos, have a terrific weekend and expect the first photos from Journey Across Japan: Escape to Paradise here on Patreon in the next few days!

It's certainly been insane. I've smashed my phone and sunburnt myself to a crisp. But so far it's been worth it.

Snow, Sake & Monkeys: The Wacky Weekend Winter Special | Patreon Exclusive Video

Connor and I drove off into the mountains of central Japan for a winter road trip, but as per usual, not everything went according to plan.

That last few seconds with the egg sushi and Connor’s not really concealed annoyance was pretty great.

Happy Birthday!

I liked the tunnel and thought it was interesting. It kinda looked abandoned and it is hard to imagine people actually use it to catch trains at all.

I liked the tunnel. It gave me the creeps. It was very cool.

I love these videos, getting a chance to see behind the scenes but also just hear a little more about the journey as an addition to the tightly edited/produced videos its perfect

Rachel Trestik

Watching Conor complain and nearly die climbing back up the tunnel was priceless, I have to say I really actually enjoyed this video very much!

The train station was legit interesting. Very eerie and cool... the water coming down the walls, the waiting room, you suffering... I enjoyed that bit.
