Peak Barry. The ability to change from hilarity to absolute darkness and back is the show's greatest strength.

Imagine waiting almost 3 years after this cliffhanger. Bill Hader has stated that he re-wrote all of season 3 and 4 due to them being delayed. They are basically 1 long season and have a different tone from season 1 and 2. Goodbye comedy, hello horror.

This is the perfect finale. Barry crashing out and basically wiping the board with the mobs, is such a powerful scene. The final scene of him fully walking into the darkness is just perfect symbolism. Barry, at the end of the day, is basically a monster. HE is the thing people should be afraid of, and he knows it.

Season 4 has, hands down, the most unsettling episode of television I've ever seen.

In one of my college acting classes, the teacher decided to do a play very similar to this. With each student doing a personal scene they wrote, except when the assignment was given we still thought we might be doing a traditional play and we were encouraged to write fictionalized stories. I wrote about my friend driving drunk and dying in a crash. Which did not happen in real life. But in the end I needed to perform this piece in front of a packed theater. After the play various people came up to me giving their condolences for the death of my friend, they talked about how my story touched them and connected to their lives. It was all very awkward.
