This episode is gutwrenching. When the ED hits with both Sayaka and Kyoko's voice actresses sing a duet... It gets me every time.. There is a TON of interesting extra details if you deepdive into this episode. To mention a couple: - Sayaka's witch's scream is by Sayaka's VA - Her labyrinth is thematically a mix between an opera (makes sense given Kyousuke was central to both her wish and her despair) and railroads (the place she turned into a witch) - Her familiar seems eerily based off of Kyousuke - When Madoka and Kyoko appears in front of Sayaka's witch, she is completely passive, and she only acts out once Madoka and Kyoko starts yelling at her, implying that Sayaka's witch starts attacking because they are interrupting the music - The posters inside the labyrinth are written in runes, but fans quickly managed to decipher them. They all say "Look at me", and we can expect those words are directed at Kyousuke - The imagery at 16:36 we see a unicorn and a mermaid. Sayaka's witch form is that of a knight and a mermaid, and her story is very reminiscent of the original Little Mermaid (not the disney version). That would imply Kyoko is the unicorn, though my best bet for this is the legend that only a maiden can tame unicorns (which in this case would be Sayaka) - the part around 23:48, outside being a reference to another series it also doubles as an censor that Kyoko has been impaled. Notice when it zooms out you can see her legs on either side suggesting that it is blood dripping from her body, and a little later when they start falling we can see a massive wound on her stomach

Happy to see that you liked the episode, Sayaka has long been one of my favorite characters ever and this episode has always had a big impact on me

PLLEAASSEE watch Rebellion after this!!! Some people have mixed opinions on if the movie should exist or not, but i think it should!! It's a natural progression for the story!

This episode was hard, emotionally speaking; and I mean Meakashi-hen level hard. It's so sad that it took Sayaka's downfall for Kyouko to actually open up to her, and eventually join her, trying to help Sayaka even after it is too late.
