Roscoe's younger sister Gracie was out and proud, and whenever she complained about dealing with homophobia he'd say the same thing: "Look, sis, I'm sorry people hassle you but this is the life you chose! You could've just married a dude and lived a nice, quiet life, but you decided to be gay!"

Gracie would insist that being gay wasn't a choice, but Roscoe refused to listen.

"You people make being gay your whole personality," he'd say, "always running around with your rainbows and pride flags and all that stuff! Why can't you just act normal?"

A few weeks later, during Pride Month, Gracie came to visit Roscoe's apartment. She told him she'd been studying witchcraft, and when he laughed she waved her hand and he felt a funny tingle all over. Suddenly he found himself at eye-level with his sister, wearing a low-cut rainbow tee and clingy overalls, with purple pigtails bouncing on either side of his head. The tough-guy tattoos on his arms faded away, replaced by images of pretty flowers and birdies. The walls of his apartment turned pink, the aggro video game posters fell away and new posters appeared that said PRIDE in big, bold letters.

Gracie looked Roscoe up and down and giggled.

"There," she said. "Now you've got exactly the same 'choice' I've always had. You can either date boys and be straight, or date girls... and be gay!"
