The idea of the whole game's HUD (Head-up-display) like the coin icon, reputation, zoom, etc. was 'the less, the better'.

People should enjoy animations without these symbols getting to much in the way. Which simply equals: Make them smaller.

With fixed textfields and icons that was not a problem. But with symbols you need to interact with, like the zoom, there was one. I need to keep those symbols bigger, since they are easier to click then.

I also thought of bringing similiar icons together, like zoom, pause and fast-forward, and I wanted to get them on the same panel, another graphic, which may look like a remote control?

The problem again was, that this extra graphic takes space in any corner of the screen. But maybe it looks way better that way?

I agree with people say, that those symbols look random. I especially see this for the zoom, switch building, and start day button. Actually the whole right side of the screen. I need to find out what to do with them.

These are just some of my thoughts. I'll attend to this topic again in a few versions. I hope I find something till then, with which I am happy.

You could put the buttons on a panel, they would look less random. You could then add a small button and/or keybind to hide/show the panel when we want a larger view.

I thought about the hide/show panel, too. But most of the buttons are in use all the time. That'll be zoom in, zoom out, pause and fast forward. The only buttons you not use very often are the pinboard, switch building and start day button. But these disappear one way or another when starting the day. But strangely I think I prefer this/your idea. Maybe I just need to try it out someday and check what people think.

Probably organizing them in one place, then giving the ability to hide them would be good. Also, perhaps it's just me, but I'd like a sort of "lock camera" sorta thing, so if I need to mouse off the window for any reason, it doesn't just move the camera off into wherever.

Yeah, that's the idea I go with. Mmm, there IS a function like that. Flash should track your mouse position, and if it's outside the window, there is no scrolling.

Right, but if I move the mouse off the window (which involves approaching an edge of the screen), it will scroll.

I can imagine some scenarios, why this could be annoying. I make a note.
