Monster Girl Tavern - Dev Log 3 (Patreon)
Content
Meet the girls!
Glorp-chan - Alien Cat
An alien cat girl… or so she claims. No one really knows what she is or where she came from. But in a world filled with monsters, demons, and magic, it’s easy to overlook a green girl who may, or may not, be from another planet.
Mysterious as she is, she runs the largest trading company in the Southern Quarter. You’ll find her at the Crossroads, where she serves as the main shopkeeper, selling upgrades for both the interior and exterior of your tavern. Also, yes, I love women in suits. There’s another one coming.
Jessie - Cow Girl
Your neighbor, the one and only cow girl cowgirl. She runs her own farm right next door, and the two of you quickly enter a business partnership. You’ll be buying her milk to serve at your tavern… and probably getting to know her a whole lot better in the process.
Velvet - Vampire
The basement-dwelling vampire with limitless smug energy. You’ve seen her before; you'll be seeing her lots. She's your manager, assistant, and occasional bodyguard as you build the tavern into something great.
Erika - Cyborg
The first officially confirmed returning character. A cyborg rather than a traditional monster girl, Erika originally came from the human continent of Maine. Now that she’s no longer hiding in a massive volcano lab at the edge of the world, she’s enjoying a quieter life in a new laboratory at the Crossroads.
Even “retired,” she can’t help herself, she’s still doing research for fun. In-game, you’ll be able to collaborate with her on research projects to unlock powerful buffs.
Xion - Moth
Once a minor character in Monster Girl 1,000 with no ero scenes, Xion returns in MGT with her updated moth girl design and a larger role. She now lives in a little witch’s hut north of your tavern, where she’ll introduce you to alchemy systems that let you craft stronger and more valuable products.
What’s done so far
Most of the important work on the world map is finished, and four of the seven planned product types are already implemented. The first round of VIP content is also in and working. Slime Girl 1, Alraune 1, Velvet 1, and Fairy 1 are all complete. At this point the basic gameplay loop of exploring, gathering, serving customers, upgrading the tavern, and spending time with the girls is no longer theoretical. It actually feels like a real game rather than a prototype.
What’s next
Right now my focus is on finishing the Fairy Lake and Witch Hut sections of the map, while also adding the remaining product types such as Ambrosia, Cocktails, and Meals. Velvet will also be getting a small guiding questline that gently pushes the player toward new systems and content. On the character side, the next VIPs I am working toward include Mosquito Girl, the next stages of Velvet’s content, Ghost Girl, Erika and the Android, the Cave Siren, and the Kitsune. In short, the cast is about to expand quite a bit and Velvet in particular has a lot ahead of her.
Playtesting plans
I am considering releasing a test build to people with the tester role on Discord once Velvet 2 is complete and all product categories have been added. That version will primarily exist to stress test the mechanics, balance the economy, and make sure things feel good from gameplay to ero scene. It will not be a “full release” but something intended for feedback.
Before the first public launch
For me, a real launch begins once content up through Velvet 5 is finished. That will mark the conclusion of what I consider the first story arc, similar in spirit to the 0.1 release of One Pump Chump. Before that point I also want to ensure that the basics of every core system is properly implemented.
Reaching that milestone means the game will already be worth playing both for its story and its mechanics. It also means there will be a strong foundation so that future updates can focus on new content and polish rather than basic infrastructure.
