All killer no filler this week as we declined dozens of celebrity appearances for this episode so that the three of us can riff on The General’s Daughter.

We start with everyone’s favorite topic, the presidential election! We love it, don’t we folks? That, like this election, takes up too much time and space in this episode, so really it’s a great one for Steven Seagal to listen to (dap yourself up if you got that deep cut of #frotlore).

Vince longingly asks about Brendan’s budding career as a pool guy, which leads nicely into a discussion of corporate jargon inspired by a clip of Edward Norton speaking absolute drivel at a Salesforce Conference. Everyone talks about how shitty X has gotten, but LinkedIn is right there as the worst place on the internet.

We finally get down to brass tacks and talk about Longlegs. Brendan and Matt loved it but Vince was so-so. Despite all that, we agree it was a solid B+. Extra credit for great atmospheric horror and outstanding cinematography.

We round things out by talking about Timotheee Chalameeee-con in NYC. Listen, we know democracy dies in darkness and all that jazz, but we’re going to need to see some evidence that these people aren’t made up.

Regarding the stuff about campaigning with Cheney: my dad is like 100% the target demo for that. Dude hates Trump but loves “old school” Republican guys like Bush, Cheney, Pence, Romney, etc. Not sure how many other dudes like that are out there, but… I know there’s at least one.

You guys kind of glossed over why the editorial boards didn’t endorse a candidate: their billionaire owners didn’t want to upset potential government contracts. Bezos even wrote a explanation that had more principled cringe than a West Wing monologue

Your conversation about the horror of the Pacific Northwest reminds me of this Hulu documentary I think y’all should check out. It’s called Sasquatch. It’s kind of exactly about that sort of stuff - the seedy criminal underbelly and general horror of being somewhere where you can get murdered and no one would know what happened to you

Just two guys with less than 2k subscribers between them talking about how to appeal to 100 million people

@35:00. Some people are shameless. They don’t have any issue with misrepresenting themselves by saying it’s all part of the game. Most of them aren’t self aware enough to even understand it’s happening. They just see it as promoting their personal brand (barf).

Brenden learning about how to take care of pools reminds me of Dud on Lodge 49! Hopefully you don’t have to pull a dead rat out of the filter.

24:50 "Maybe we're just stupid, maybe they know something we don't know." And they do; they know to give the American voter way less credit than Matt and Vince do.
