BTW was fun seeing a GoT DeathMatch between Lawyer Gren and the Waif Cop across the table.

Ste Rawlings

Guys you should check out the film Boiling Point from 2021. Also a oner by the same director of this. The dad is the main character and it's set in a restaurant.

Chris Thompson

Stick to the movie though, the TV spinoff was just unnecessary and added nothing new.

Ste Rawlings

A family of say nothings or just English?

Omar Cornelio

Man as a parent in general especially of a young boy, this shit HITS differently. The only thing that ever keeps me up is wondering if I was good enough for them or what I could’ve done better.

Jeffrey Conway

You know some might say that that whole “meth lab project “ was cursed from the beginning. From, you know, it being A METH LAB. Everything about that hole in the ground both past and future was built on death and vengeance.

Kate

If you’re interested in how they filmed the one shots etc, Netflix has a great ‘the making of adolescence’ video on YouTube - it’s only about 10mins long but would love to see you react to it! Thank you

Stanley Etienne

This show is pure propaganda. It was inspired by a real crime in which they race swapped the killer on the show, and completely changed the narrative of the event.

JD Sharpe

Just to explain this ludicrous comment for others. So, obviously the alt right has not responded well to the show, and why wouldn’t they? It points out that misogyny is a problem, that it leaks in through right wing influencers/rapists like Andrew Tate, etc. So they’ve been saying that this was based on the Southport stabbings in 2024, in which the perpetrator killed three little girls (not one teenage girl) in broad daylight (not at night) at a community centre (not a carpark) and the perpetrator was a black adult. They’ve also said the perpetrator was an immigrant, but he was a British citizen. It should be noted that this resulted in race riots, with racist dickheads taking to the street to smash the shop windows of anyone not sufficiently pale. Elon Musk is maybe the most prominent person to have pushed this lie that the show was based on those stabbings, when in reality it’s based on the general issue of knife crime in Britain and the problem of the alt right brainwashing a generation of boys. The show was deep into production at the time of that crime. So no, the show isn’t pure propaganda, that’s just an alt right talking point knowingly spread as misinformation to spread a lie.

Chris Bruneau

This show really disturbed me, and I wanted to share an excerpt from the book "Notes on Being a Man," by NYU Professor Scott Galloway, who has been ringing the alarm about the tragic stats about young men and social media for almost a decade: ""Boys and men are in crisis. Rarely has a cohort fallen further and faster than young men living in Western democracies. Boys are less likely to graduate from high school or college than girls. One in seven men reports having no friends, and men account for three of every four deaths of despair in America""

I don't know what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that emojis don't have different meanings to them than what they actually are? If so, all you have to do is spend 10minutes on any dating app to see that they do.

In episode 3, the actor playing Jamie coughed and apologized a few times. I don't think there was any symbolism in it. I think it was literally how it was shot. You rehearse 20 times before you shoot an inch of film, you scramble and shout and blow out your vocal folds. I remember being in plays and musicals when I was young, and I remember the director saying, "save your voice for opening night!" and I'm not saying the directors of this show didn't say say that, but the child actors rehearsing for these episodes must be so much more daunting. So, that being said, he might have just improvised when talking about his throat being raw, and they kept it in because it was so authentic, and he didn't break character, and re-shooting would have been too much.
