I have never had an issue with why Abby did what she did. I understood it in the game and I understand it in the show. My issue has always been the way it happens (the show version is even worse in this sense because she comes across like a straight up sociopath with no redeeming qualities) and the way the game struggled at times to have character dynamics that were as compelling as Joel and Ellie's was/is (Dina and Ellie come very close and I think the show will actually do a better job because it can focus on more than just Ellie and Abby's perspectives)
