Game of Thrones 8x6 Finale | Watch Along

Even if the 8 season doesn't have the best end, I find your reaction really exaggerated. For me the end sounds logical ... Bran becomes king is good. He knows every story, every mistake that was made. Bran does not make an impulsive decision like Cersei and Daenerys do. Apparently he doesn't feel any real emotions that can strongly influence him. At the scene where Tyrion says "The world needs a place for bastards and cripples" he means metaphorically and not as it is said word for word but that could have been thought of. Season 8 was unfortunately rushed but I didn't find episode 6 bad but 4 and 5. The development of Daenerys is not traceable. It's like a switch was flipped in season 7, causing it to go crazy. Btw Bran cant have children because he fk DOWN HIS WAIST PARALYZED ! The long Winters where made by the Nightking also. He is gone Winter is normal now. Grey Worm is mad because his freaking world was destroyed within month.

“What’s west of Westeros? Nobody knows”, Arya says, “It’s where all the maps end.” Bran the broken, the three eyed raven, sits beside her, smizing. He knows; he’s just not saying.

God I hated the season 8. So bad, so cringey, so poorly written. Those 2 dumbasses of the writers were so up their own asses thinking "subverting expectations" would be a good idea for main hero characters and FOR THE SHOW FINAL SEASON. Like they literally fucked up Jaime, Jon, Arya, Varys, Tyrion simply because they were fan favorites and people kinda knew what their end goal is, but that doesn't mean we DON'T WANT TO SEE IT HAPPEN. But they hated Jon more than anyone. Book Jon was very smart, cunning and ambitious. He was definitely not the 100% good and naive guy they made him from like season 5 onwards, book Jon was absolutely willing to scheme and lie to reach a goal. Not to mention he VERY much wants glory and to be a lord. He was actually killed in the books because he wanted to march with the wildlings and the night watch on Winterfell to save Arya ( in the books Littlefinger marries a fake "Arya" to Ramsey instead). He would 100% want the throne if he found out who his parents were.

Ugh... the way they butchered the last 2 seasons... I like the IDEA of Dany's descent into madness, but neither it nor most of the other character arc endings were earned. They ran out of source material and rushed the shit out of it. It needed another 2 seasons to properly develop the arcs and story, and the writing needed SOOO much more care.

It's too bad that you had a whole dude in yall ear with his whole opinion in your mind and surely others as well BEFORE you finished this up. Saying that no one influenced your opinion on this is in no way possible. And the complaints that were often louder than the show and not always well informed or accurate got to me the most. I dig your opinions and usual attention to detail, that's part of why I watch Diegesis, and I do agree that moments in the overall writing didn't go over well, especially as this episode ends. It makes sense to be disappointed from one angle, but for me to also make sense out of many of the choices made in this show is no less wrong, sorry. And on top of all that, your boy's take on this and his corrections only work to some degree, until they fall apart. If Tyrions plotline should end in s4, then GRRM should not have written him to continue to Essos. It is also there in the books that we see his own fall into some form of madness and giving up. The show aludes to this, but most miss it because of what comes later, which is admittedly bad writing regarding the plans against Cersei. But I do think all of your opinions on this show are influenced by those around you, and therefore you made it sound like you suffered through the last season...you didn't. People like myself who sat and waited from week to week and year to year to see what would happen next and where this story we loved was gonna go, especially after it surpassed the source material, WE suffered through this. We had to make the best of a less than satisfactory ending. We had to debate amongst each other and unfortunately, we did it way too loud, so that generations to watch after like you two would come in just a little bit tainted and askew about what you were watching. Much respect to you, I'm still a fan, but I had to throw in my perspective.

It was a bad last 2 seasons. It was obviously a bad last 2 seasons watching them unfold. Its still, even today, a bad last 2 seasons. I watched the show week to week and year to year from s3 on. And it was obviously a bad 2 seasons from episode to episode. The fact that people can watch it today and still see it as bad isn't the fault of people who were too loud in their dislike. I've seen too many people watch and love the Star Wars prequels today for that to be true. And trust me, waiting or binging, the suffering is the same. So don't take away from them just because they didn't have to wait years for the misery to end. We at least had weekly videos and other viewers to share in and cope with our problems with the series. We had compilations of the actors "hinting" to us to make us feel better. Sure, those videos are still out there, but they aren't at the top of the feed like they were when the seasons aired. Also, just because you mentioned it...it'd have been fine to cut Tyrion from the plot. Its an adaptation that had already made huge cuts in characters that will likely be important later. (Lady Stoneheart, Aegon, Victarion, and I'll toss in House Reed to name a few). So to specifically call out this change as being not in line with GRRMs books is a bit...well...irrelevant. The video essay wasn't advice on keeping with the books but about what the show could have done to be a better version of itself.

Fans were "done dirty" by the showrunners (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss) .. During Season 7 Production (and when the season originally aired on HBO), the showrunners were trying to negotiate a lucrative production deal with Netflix, and they were in the running to write/direct a Star Wars film (for Disney) .. By Season 7, the showrunners were "done" with Game of Thrones and wanted to transition to other creative projects (e.g., they actually drafted a script based on a hypothetical-concept of what America would be if the Confederates had won the Civil War. TRUE STORY) .. The showrunners' ambitions & their reluctance to produce Seasons 9 - 11 is WHY Seasons 7 & 8 felt rushed, because they wanted to "land the plane" as soon as possible (in 2018), so they could become "Producer/Writer - Free Agents" .. As Fans angrily watch Seasons 7 and (especially the ending of Season 8, just know that HBO AND George RR Martin wanted AT LEAST TWO MORE SEASONS. Most of the actors were loyal to Benioff & Weiss, and didn't want to work with any other showrunners .. which is so short-sighted because other than Emilia Clarke, No Other Actors on this show has had any acting-roles of significance (Post Game-of-Thrones) .. It's just so frustrating that the world of Dorne was not explored, and the fates of Daenerys, Jaime, AND Cerei were butchered !!! The Ending of Season 8 is simply ILLOGICAL simply because Two Showrunners had succumbed to Greed & let their Egos tarnish a Great Series (prior to Season 7) .. I was One of the people who signed an online petition (in 2019) requesting Season 8 to be re-written by HBO !! I signed it then & I would sign it again in 2025 !!!

LMAO seems like all the season 8 defenders came out their rock to defend this sloppy written final season with all their might in the comment section. never seen this amount of people think it was actually good certainly interesting
