Classic Keanu movie! Hope you continue Keanu movies, also secretly hope you start the James Gunn DCU watch cause its the new DC stuff and is really good and this character is a great DC character that may show up (not as Keanu) in the future

Apparently the writer/director's original version of the movie did a lot to flesh out the relationships and made the whole thing seem a bit less disjointed, but this is peak 2000's. P.S. Keanu Reeves plays a character called Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, so another John

Never thought of this movie as camp.. what exactly is camp.. a feeling? Is Beetlejuice or Ironman camp. Cuz both have cheesy lines

I'm going to catch flack for this but I'd rather rewatch The Last Vampire on Earth (2009) than rewatch this lol.

Keanu is from an era where there was a clear difference between Prestige acting and Blockbuster Movie acting. Keanu, Tom Cruise, Nicholas Cage, etc., make the cheesy and thin plot/characterization of action flicks enjoyable.

Yeah, in some ways this is kinda proto-Wick, not necessarily in ways that are obvious, but for sure.. It didn't get a sequel because nobody went to the cinema to see it, which annoyingly is the standard - but Keanu always said he wanted to make it happen and it's definitely on and a big passion project for him, much like how John Wick was. It's gained a huge cult following over the years so the sequel is probably going to be a massive deal. It's much like how the new Riddick movie is for Vin Diesel, where he's making it happen through his own star weight because he wants to do it, studios be damned - which is great honestly, because we've never really had that before but is definitely becoming more of a thing - these movies wouldn't happen otherwise. Both were also brought to a screeching halt by pandemic nonsense too else we'd probably have them by now, but they are coming. Edit: Oh, and yeah, on the Johnny Utah thing - it's a very common complaint; some people can handle it, some people can't. If you can you'll enjoy his movies, if you can't you'll think he's a terrible actor - it's almost as if he's repeatedly refining the model, and some day he'll be the "perfect" Johnny Utah.

Peter Stormare as Lucifer almost steals the spotlight and with so little screen time. The white suit with the tar, the mix of creepy, almost joyful antagonizing, and deeply threatening demeanor is just perfect. I believe I read the look and attitude was Peter's idea as well, and he nailed it, awesome depiction.

Keanu Reeves also plays Johnny Silver hand in Cyberpunk 2077 lol. So add that one to the pile of Johns.

There is a DC Constantine series with a different actor, which is really good imho, but it ends with a cliffhanger and didn't get renewed. Plus a couple animated DC movies about Constantine's Super Hero team up group, Justice League Dark, against the magical, supernatural and religious evil things in the DCU. And lastly, Keanu has been trying for 2 decades to get a Constantine 2 greenlit because this was one of his favorite roles. Keanu is often picked as an actor because of his stoic facial expressions. A stoic face in film is a film trick that allows the audience to be absorbed and drawn in by the performance. Your average film goer will often feel as if they are inside the head of the protagonist because the expression he gives is considered a "blank slate". It allows the thoughts of the film goer to project themselves into the role of the protagonist. That is the purpose of him in Matrix. The creators intentionally wanted the audience to feel like they are the one. They are the chosen. Keanu creates that with a lot of ease and he is well known by directors for doing it.
