Actually they did mention about the start-up at the end of ep1. There was this scene of them having a meeting over lunch at a rundown restaurant when he had to rush off after receiving a call from Wei Zhi Yuan's teacher.

Also, not sure if you noticed Sam Lin from We Best Love who plays the doctor. He does look very different from his role in WBL

I'm also very lost in the timeline. Idk how old they were to begin with so I have no clue how old they are here 😅 The filter/colouring also confuses me since it makes it look like they're in the 90's era-begin 2000s? But wasn't his graduation in 2013? I'm scared about his sister and the gang idk. Seeing the short flahbacks it seems his mom was both abusive and SA'ed him? Just my guess so far.

At the end of episode 1, they said that he was building a company with the help of a man. Go back and watch the end of the first episode, you would better understand the story of the start-up. I had no problem understanding because i binge watching it, So I would advise you to watch the old episodes before starting a new one.

The timeline can be a bit confusing during the first episodes if you didn’t read the novel beforehand but after this episode it gets easier to follow and the story gets better!

let me tell you from third world countries family perspective, yeah parents love sending their kids to study abroad because they thought every university outside is better than home university. They just want their kids to get better education, its common especially in Asia countries.
