They're cultivators so they won't die easily. Strong cultivators can easily heal themselves from pretty bad injuries soooo....it's not surprising that Yao wasn't dead yet from his arm being chopped off and a stab

Oh yes! End of an era. I finished this a while ago and now I'm watching it together with you. (Oh and in the ending it is Lan calling Wei. As you can see Wei has a different clothing than what he wore when they departed so that must be him going back to Gusu.)

Nie Huaisang for me is not bad, it was just revenge for the murder of his big brother as he says at the end if it's business that does not concern him personally, he does not care... But we can see it when he takes Meng Yao's hat, that even though he took revenge, he's not really happy about his death... I don't know if you understood it, but it was Nie Huaisang who brought Wei Wuxian back to help him reveal the real "Meng Yao" because he knew that he alone couldn't otherwise he would end up like his brother, that's why when Wei Ying, Lan Zhan and Nie Huaisang meet at the entrance of Cloud Recesses, Lan Zhan has no animosity towards Nie Huaisang for everything he has done (because all the little details who appeared like that on Meng Yao, it was also Huaisang) because Lan Zhan knows that it is thanks to him that he has Wei Ying near him again... When Meng Yao is with Xichen, the sword in him and who says to him "Stay and die with me", he just wanted to see his reaction and see if Xichen liked him enough to want to die with him and when he saw that was the case and Xichen lowered his hand to stay with him, he pushed him because he didn't really want him to die with him, like he told him, he lied to him, he used it at times but it never hurt him physically and he didn't want to hurt him even when he was about to die... I don't know if you understood the scene of Jiang Cheng where there is the flashback but to sum it up, he sacrificed himself to save Wei Ying and Wei Ying sacrificed himself for Jiang Cheng, I find it so sad ! Because it proves so much that the two love each other enormously but because of the things left unsaid, their relationship ended like this... As for the ending, I think Wei Ying needs to recharge his batteries, get away from it all for a while, with all he's been through, Lan Zhan, meanwhile, would have liked to follow him, I think, but since he has the title of excellency, he has duties and can't leave as he wishes + Xichen is really heartbroken, I even believe that it is said that he was in confinement (this is not mentioned in the drama) so I guess Lan Zhan also has to take the position of clan leader temporarily... And yes at the end it is indeed Lan Zhan who calls Wei Ying (you can see it by the way Wei Ying smiles seeing him), the scene takes place months or years later, it's an open ending... Besides, there is a lot of fanfiction on the possible sequel of the drama!

Wei Ying always has clothes that look alike so it's true that it's hard to guess but it's really different clothes! Apparently in the films about Wen Ning and Nie Huaisang, we learn that it was the return of Wei Ying (I didn't see the two films but I read that)
