In this universe parental mixes don't combine the species like hybrids, i mean lions with horns as an example, but they keep the species of the predominant gen and inherit some traits like size, muscular build, lenght of hair, color patterns and such from both parents. So Jimmy got the species from his mom that was a predominant gen but the heigh of his dad, a corgi. Samewise, his mom got the species of the grandma and she got the build and height of the grampa, a bear
