Good news: it's not exactly dangerous and the body will fight it off by itself and my vision should revert to normal once the virus is gone.
Bad news: the recovery period for this can be about two months. There is no way to treat it in order to speed up the recovery or to reduce the pain or light sensitivity.
The doctor said that the first two weeks or so are usually the worst and that's when most of the pain will make things difficult for me. I can't make things worse by looking at computer screens and working, so as soon as the pain starts going away, I can go back to work again, even though things might be slow due to my impaired vision.
So there it is. In some ways it's comforting news. At least I'm not going blind. But the slow recovery and the fact that my vision will be impaired for some time is annoying.
