This week I did a big ol' blog on my experience playing the as-yet-unreleased "Twilight Imperium of Roleplaying Games", wizard simulator The Seven-Part Pact.

I'm delighted to be able to accompany that piece with an interview with designer Jay Dragon, who you might know from her previous award-winning works, Sleepaway, Wanderhome and Yezeba's Bed and Breakfast. She's a boss, is what I'm saying.

I enjoyed this chat a lot. It's fascinating hearing about the path Jay's taking through the design space, going from making simple games to incomparably HUUUGE ones, and I think you can tell from our chemistry that the two of us get along when we meet. One thing I enjoy a bit less is this recording, which has a less-than-ideal clicking sound coming from my mic.

Why is that? If I've got an audio pros in my community, please let me know! 🎙️

Enjoy, everybody.

Getting six of my most insane friends together for a rousing game of Politics Wizards (100% serious, I'm gonna try to Play That Shit) Great interview!

I pitched this to my friends, completely expecting a yeah naw but they’re really into it. Not sure I’m capable of facilitating it any time soon though

I definitely fall into the target demographics of these games, I love every single one of the games from Possum Creek Games almost only from hearing the premises, so happy to get some insights into the designing process of these amazing publications!

Really interesting how The Seven-Part Pact is designed to simulate that particular part of the real world, and I’m really excited to see how it would achieve that goal to sort of force players to roleplay genuinely awful people who want to gatekeep power. Also really happy to see ‘You Will Die In This Place’ getting recommended.

God I’ve been smiling and chuckling through this whole interview! The wizard game in particular just had me rolling xD
