After the wonderful experience that was Zenobia, I decided to give another beautiful lady from FGO a go.
Scheherazade is an interesting case. At first, she did not give a very favorable impression because of the way she was written in the main chapter of the game. And even after her character development in subsequent story arcs and interludes, I didn't really feel like giving her a go until recently. The angle of Scheherazade being afraid of death and overcoming it has been done a lot in the game story, and memed to death in the community. So I wanted to go for something different: The nourishment of a worn-out heart and a grieved body.
The stories of Fate tend to have a theme of decay, with different characters being reduced to a shell of their former selves over time when they were exposed to a harrowing ordeal for a long time, and their altruistic motivations devolved into something destructive and evil. Scheherazade seemed to follow the same kind of story: Someone who stepped up to protect others and especially her loved ones, devolving into someone haunted by fear of death, simply because she had to wear herself out every day alone simply to live a little bit longer.
And then she was summoned to Chaldea. From there, she had a Master who treat her kindly, and she found friends to talk to and have fun with. Such an environment allowed her to slowly heal and remember her old self. I wanted to explore that angle, except through sex. And in this scenario, she is with a Master that can put her at ease, help her mind connect with her own body, her own heart, and someone she loves intimately.
I also wanted to touch on the connection between her and Master that let her be summoned to Chaldea in the first place. Like Scheherazade, Master was kind of normal person that had to step up to save the world because there was no one else around, and simply because he didn't want to die, as shown in the last chapter of Act 1 of the game. Unlike Scheherazade, he was able to push on because he was not alone.
Maybe, every Servant has something inside them that allows them to be summoned by the Master of Chaldea? I'm entertaining the idea in case I wanted to do more Servants in the future.
For the next set, I'm going with Artoria Pendragon... Lancer Alter, or Lalter for short. I had a lot of fun thinking about Scheherazade's heart. It's time for me to think about Lalter's heart.
