Hey hey!
I hope you all had good holidays and a good end of the year! I had a good time and now, it's past the time to update you all on what I've been doing and the status of things!
I'm happy to be able to report that the writing for Update 14 is already done and under review. Will be finalized very soon and with that, I'll move on to creating it all, as usual! That still takes me a while, but we're getting there. There are a whole bunch of new small assets this time to put into the game, but I'm excited! New sprites, new sprite variations, all the stuff!
There are a few small coding changes and additions I've been wanting to add and I'll focus on doing all of that along with the visuals this week and the upcoming ones until the update is complete. Although there is still a lot of work to be done, I am shooting towards releasing the update already at the second half of this month, if possible! I'll keep you all updated with dates as things get finished and I feel confident about them, but that's my plan!
This update is sitting at a healthy 11k words. It might feel a little short when playing given that some of that length are three branch variations of the same scene, but I hope it'll feel impactful! We have a lot of different people and things to see on this one! And I'm very excited to work on the next one as well. ;)
Blain has worked hard on the art assets and they're all pretty much ready, save for the biggest one. I'll be working on him on finishing up the CG we'll see in Update 14 as well this week! On the backgrounds district, Teo has been cooking up an AMAZING new version of the watch house Courtyard that maybe we'll manage to get into this update still! Because a lot of Update 14 will happen at the tavern, we're looking into reshaping that one as well and the plans are pretty good! I'll show you all preview of those when they're ready as well, as usual. ;)
Since the update is not THAT big this time, I hope to be able to finish it up a bit faster as well. I know it has already been some time, but there's so much that goes into it! I'm happy that between this update cycle I managed to get a good chunk of the side game done as well among other things. I think I also forgot to mention that I spent a day or two updating the Ren'py version the game uses. I was pending to do that and, thought it gave me a little bit of a headache, it wasn't too much! That's gonna be a good chance as it will hopefully make things smoother for linux players (which I know aren't that many, but hey, accessibility!) and, most importantly, allow me to use some cool new features to make cool things. ;) I'll be giving it a try this week and you'll see what I mean!
For now, I think this is it for this devlog! Things are moving, awesome things coming! I have a few previews to show in the next few days of the new assets and, as for the CG... I won't be giving previews of it, but I'll give the usual 'postviews' of it after the update is live for a while. No spoilers! ;)
