Hey heeeey!

I titled this post 'final' devlog because we're approaching the release of Update 3 very fast!

I'm happy to report that the text is 100% done and about 70% of the Update is already coded in as well! There's some scripting left to do alongside some bits here or there that I want to make special, and then that will be it!

I said this update would be shorter and more chill. Well, while it certainly is more chill after all the action we got on Update 2... It's not actually *that* much shorter. It's sitting at about 17k words, which is shorter than Update 2, but only by like 3k words!

This update is a bit more branched. While Update 2 was very linear, this one goes back to having some branches and choices so not all text will appear on any given route and people can try different things to see what appears. As we move further and further into the game I'm starting to get more branching options and I like that. I like adding these. I feel like it makes everything more dynamic. All choices you make in the game might matter in the future, even the smallest ones!

I won't make any hard promises because who knows what might happen, but I very much aim to release the beta version (soundless and unreviewed) to the highest-tier patrons by the end of the week. If that works well and everything goes smoothly, I hope to have a Patreon release of Update 3 by the beginning of next week at the latest!

In the meantime, I've also got some new stuff going on predating the Update release! We have a new Twitter account just for Demons Within, @DemonsWithinVN, which you can follow to see updates and everything on Twitter! Granted, you see stuff even earlier here on Patreon, but you know... it's still nice! ;) Stuff like fan art and all content will be retweeted there so it's nice to keep up!

We've also got a brand new itch.io page look, courtesy of Blain's incredible artwork! We worked together to make it awesome and, as we expand on the game's theme and everything, we'll work hard to keep making it even more awesome! The next step will be applying some of that to the in-game looks as well, which I'll look into for the next Update if I can. ;)

Really looks into branches and choices! I also wonder if our choices will affect other character's development in story. I mean... our lovely Ed.
