Miranda hadn’t stopped her investigation into what had happened to the Fallen King and Sylphie even after the situation had seemingly been resolved. She refused to believe there weren’t more traitors on Earth, perhaps even some high up in the system. A few more administrative staff were identified over the next few weeks who had all been incredibly suspicious. Some weren’t even immigrants from other planets but natives of Earth.

Arthur took the lead in many of these investigations, as the vast majority of these people were from his prior base of supporters. The United Cities Alliance had been formed from the people who opposed the Chosen of the Malefic Viper and, in general, people who wanted to preserve Earth as it was before the system. In other words, they didn’t want any immigrants or non-humans anywhere, and rather than live with beasts in a semi-synergistic society, they would rather see them all killed. They simply refused to see them as the sapient creatures they were now.

The push of the World Council to not only allow immigrants and freed slaves to settle on Earth but even beasts to live among humans had naturally ruffled some feathers, and the recent return of the Risen had only made things even worse. While they had done much to address these people, it was hard to do anything toward people merely harboring negative thoughts or acting in the shadows.

No one wanted a society where you could get in trouble for thinking the wrong thing either, so they’d ended up with a lot of people carrying resentment and a lot of bigotry toward anyone who wasn’t a human while naturally also hating other humans who didn’t share their beliefs.

This was a problem Miranda, Arthur, the Fallen King, and the Sky Whale had discussed extensively, with the shared sentiment that nothing but time could fix these issues. The old generation had to die off and be replaced with more progressive people who weren’t used to a world before the system but what the multiverse had now become.

Anyway, insidious actors had found plenty of people to take advantage of, and many jumped at the opportunity to seemingly do meaningful damage to Jake and his allies, who were ”actively destroying the planet.”

These insidious actors naturally included allies of Ell’Hakan. Quite a lot of them, in fact. However, when looking into them, Miranda and Arthur were perplexed at some of the things they found, and with the assistance of William, they discovered everything wasn’t as simple as they looked. Rather than finding one group… they found two.

One was the agents of Ell’Hakan, who had seemingly gone into sleeper mode for the last pretty long period, likely doing nothing more than reporting things to the other Chosen while not taking any actions. A few had even gone as far as to spread rumors about what had happened actually when Ell’Hakan invaded the planet so long ago, how it had all been a misunderstanding caused due to the Order of the Malefic Viper, and some even claimed it had been a good thing as it ”opened the eyes” of the Viper’s Chosen to what his Patron truly was.

None of them did anything overtly harmful to Earth and weren’t really threats at this moment.

This all seemed to track with Ell’Hakan’s recent official stance where he no longer ran any negative propaganda campaigns toward Jake. Instead, he didn’t seem to say much about Jake at all, and what was said was neutral at worst. Truly, it did seem like he was trying to spin a tale of Jake and Ell’Hakan being enemies due to their respective Patrons and having no personal animosity toward each other… meaning that should Jake ”break free” from the Malefic Viper, they would have no reason to oppose one another. Should he join Valhal, perhaps they would even be allies.

When it came to these people who loyally served Ell’Hakan and acted according to his will, Miranda just kept an eye on them and took notes. Taking any actions would ruin their own plans. Also, keeping an eye on them while not doing anything would instead help Jake’s cause, as she was sure the people she sent weren’t all competent enough to not be discovered, and the fact that Earth’s intelligence network knew and didn’t act against his agents would certainly get back to Ell’Hakan, only further strengthening his delusion that Jake had softened his stance toward his fellow Chosen.

As for the second group, also made up of Ell’Hakan supporters, they were quite a bit… different. These people seemingly were no longer actually in contact with the other Chosen but acted entirely on their own and had made their own small groups and plans, entirely – and purposefully – separate from the true followers of Ell’Hakan.

Of course, ironically, these people believed they were the ”true” followers. As for their exact beliefs… Miranda couldn’t figure them out, and it soon became clear it wasn’t because she was shit at her job but because they truly didn’t have any collective belief outside of thinking that Ell’Hakan was some kind of godlike being and that Jake and the Viper were evil incarnate. They had a flimsy cohesion at best, and all the true fanatics were immigrants who Miranda suspected had also been immigrants on the planets they had arrived on Earth from.

These fanatics had then found allies among the natives of Earth, making wild promises that Ell’Hakan would save them all from the evil snake cult, eradicate all the beasts and monsters, and return the planet to its rightful owners: humanity. Truly, it was all bullshit and didn’t even track with what Ell’Hakan would actually do… but it was good enough to convince the desperate morons who let anger and fear of the foreign rule them over logic.

Miranda truthfully didn’t even want to get into the complexities of the delusions at play, and there was a good reason she called them fanatics. They acted illogical and with intense emotions to the level it was irrational, making her form quite a few theories she had no proof of but would certainly keep in mind. The predominant one was that Ell’Hakan had perhaps wanted to create followers with absolute loyalty and it had gone wrong somehow, and yes, the vast majority of her theories included Ell’Hakan having done something extreme with his Bloodline that had then ended up backfiring.

She would think he knew what they were up to if not for all the evidence speaking to the contrary, and while William still wasn’t the most reliable source, he had proven himself honest in all matters so far. Her view of William was a bit odd, as she naturally didn’t know him from back in the Tutorial. She had never really interacted with him or even heard about him until he came and began to actively help around Haven, which did make it hard for her to see why she had to be so damn suspicious of him all the time. Because right now, he just seemed like a kid trying to desperately make himself useful.

Then again, she did realize he had been blessed by Eversmile, been a terror and absolute psycho during Jake’s Tutorial, and even sided with Ell’Hakan afterward, again due to Eversmile. Casper and Jacob had also confirmed pretty much everything Jake had told her, making it clear she had to be wary even if he had supposedly changed. Caution was never a bad thing in her book, but she didn’t want to be overly cautious and not make use of a valuable tool due to preconceived notions either.

The young metal mage had also come by after having proven himself useful that day, having investigated a group of fanatics. They ended up not really being that problematic or worth dealing with and had only been in contact with someone they’d already gotten rid of a week ago.

”How many more of them do you estimate there are out there?” Miranda asked with a raised eyebrow. ”Of these real fanatics, that is.”

”It’s impossible to tell, at least for me,” William shook his head. ”I can see the karmic connections people have and even glean some insight here and there, but I wouldn’t call it an exact science, and we would undoubtedly catch many innocents in the net if we wanted to cast it based on people’s karmic connections.”

”What if we just limit it to the people who have been directly influenced by Ell’Hakan? Those with a direct connection to the Chosen?”  Miranda asked, these people being the most important to address.

”Easier, but we still need individual investigations,” William said after thinking a bit. ”Many high-level diplomats or World Leaders who were part of the Prima Guardian Alliance met Ell’Hakan at one point or another, but that doesn’t mean they are loyal to him. Kindroth should be proof enough of that.”

Miranda nodded and sighed, annoyed that the karma mage was right. Kindroth – also known as the Voice of the One – was still a weird figure. By now, Miranda was pretty sure he had his own plans, but clearly, those plans didn’t include helping Ell’Hakan. Quite the opposite.

Time and time again, he’d proven himself useful and even helped the investigation significantly. The elf still held a lot of sway over many of the other World Leaders and used that to try and out any dissidents. Plus, he was really good at what he did, which, more than anything, was being a conman. He even made people who usually only liked humans like him. If he had been a political opponent, Miranda would have found him frightening and she was happy he appeared to remain an ally.

Still, she kept an eye on him, even if she did believe they would remain allies for now, as their interests did seem to allign. Even if he was useful and competent, he still wasn’t as effective as William, though, as karmic magic was simply overpowered for outing spies, and it was good to have the heretic of a Primordial specialized in karmic magic on their side.

She had also considered and knew asking if using karma to look just for those Ell’Hakan had messed up with his Bloodline wasn’t possible. At least William couldn’t do anything there, as he couldn’t use his skills to track anything Bloodline-related due to how the system worked.

The problem with karmic bonds was also that while they went two ways, one side could have a far more powerful bond based on individual perception or understanding. It was honestly all a mess.

”Would you meeting directly with Ell’Hakan help your efforts? Even if you are only observing him from afar,” Miranda asked the mage, as William instantly shook his head and shut the idea down.

”I… don’t want to find out,” William said as he looked at the floor and hesitated before elaborating at least a little. ”Meeting Ell’Hakan would simply be too risky. With his Bloodline… no, I can’t risk it.”

Miranda just kept quiet, prompting Wiliam to continue on his own. “I already don’t trust most of my emotions. They still feel foreign at times, and I’m uncertain what influence of Eversmile still lingers. I’m such a fucking mess Ell’Hakan is bound to find something to take advantage of…”

“It’s alright,” Miranda just said with a smile. “Having met him myself, I can’t fault anyone not wanting to be in his vicinity.”

The mage likely had a very good point… he wasn’t suited to confront Ell’Hakan or even be in his presence, and Miranda should have known so, given his history. He had a track record of being used and manipulated, so it was only understandable he had developed some level of trauma towards someone who had a Bloodline all about manipulating the emotions of others.

It was a dangerous Bloodline to everyone. Miranda had to be extremely careful while around him, always keeping her own emotions in check, and even so, she wasn’t certain it worked. How could she be? If she felt like she hadn’t been influenced, that could easily just be because Ell’Hakan wanted her to feel that way. No, the only people Miranda knew of who had managed to remain unaffected were the Sword Saint and Arnold.

The Sword Saint because he had a mind trained with discipline and had an “old soul,” so to say. He knew himself, he knew his emotions, and he knew how to calm them in an almost meditative state, not allowing them to affect him. His mind was like a serene pond that would instantly notice if any ripples formed from outside influence. It was something Miranda admired about the man and certainly one of the biggest reasons he had come as far as he had and even managed to become a Transcendent.

Meanwhile, Arnold was Arnold.

Anyway, William left the office soon after, and before he left, they switched the topic and discussed his next job, leaving Miranda alone with her work once more as she quickly went down to the cellar beneath her office. Well, rather than a cellar, it was more like a large cavern she had Hank help construct a long time back, also making use of the coffins from the Treasure Hunt and many other natural treasures to help enhance her abilities as a witch.

She had some targets to take a look into and a few who had to meet unfortunate ends, and quite honestly, it was easier for them to simply disappear, consumed by the swamps of the Verdant Lagoon, rather than make a big show of killing them. Plus, this meant they didn’t have corpses to clean up, saving a bit on the city budget.

Miranda sat in the center of the large magic circle as the runes lit up all around her and sunk her counciousness into the land beneath her as she became one with Haven and started her little hunt.

--

“It truly stopped… they must have done it,” Jacob said with a smile as he looked at the map of the Milky Way. He had been keeping a close on it over the last weeks and noticed something… the spread of dead planets had stopped entirely. He’d tried to divine why already but found himself unable to.

“It can’t really be anyone but them, can it?” Bertram, who stood with him, agreed. “I just hope they’re all still fine.”

“They should be. Jake is the Chosen of the Malefic Viper, and while desolation is incredibly dangerous, it’s one of the concepts the Malefic One is incredibly potent with,” Jacob said. “Of course, nothing is certain…”

Jacob had discovered the nature of the creature a while ago through his divinations. He’d recognized the signs of desolation within his dreams and visions and realized what kind of creature it was, though he naturally didn’t know everything. He’d kept a close eye on it, but then, suddenly, it had stopped doing anything, and he could no longer divine anything regarding the creature of desolation.

Ell’Hakan had also noticed this and questioned Jacob, who’d decided not to share anything he didn’t have to. Despite having developed the teleporter that allowed him and his allies to travel to planets not even part of the Prima Guardian Alliance, he had not once shown interest in confronting the living calamity sweeping their galaxy.

Jacob had even begun to suspect this was because Ell’Hakan had something to do with this creature, but reality proved to be far more simple… he just didn’t care. He didn’t see the creature as any kind of priority. The Chosen didn’t even believe killing some unknown menace would help his discourse, as no one really knew about it, seeing as everyone who’d been terrorized by the creature of desolation was dead.

He would rather “save” more planets and have them integrated into his alliance than actually do something good, and Jacob did find it hypocritical that the “evil” snake cult Chosen and his allies ended up being the ones doing a good deed.

Speaking of good deeds…

Valhal had been quickly making a name for themselves across the galaxy, all with the support of Ell’Hakan to help spread their name and influence. The Holy Church also helped Ell’Hakan – Jacob even being there proof of that – and the Church had even hired the Court of Shadows and some mercenaries, making their progress of killing Prima Guardians even faster as they began teleporting all around the galaxy, even to planets who hadn’t asked for help.

As they stood there, looking at the map that outlined the state of their galaxy, Bertram spoke. “I can’t even begin to imagine how this all ends…”

“Neither do I,” Jacob confessed. “I do truthfully hope for a peaceful solution… one that limits needless bloodshed. We can only pray that Jake will be open to diplomacy and peace talks or at least that Miranda will push for a mostly conflict-free resolution. Perhaps Ell’Hakan will need to leave the galaxy for good, but his followers should be fine.”

“Maybe such a thing can be achieved,” Bertram shrugged. “Jake isn’t the most caring of guys, so as long as no one really close to him is killed, it should be possible to negotiate with him.”

For some reason, when Bertram said that, Jacob felt an odd premonition and a shiver run down his spine but quickly shook it off. Yeah… that wouldn’t happen, right? Because if it did… Jacob had a hard time seeing this entire galactical event end in anything but bloodshed.

First !

Thank u for the story

Long Live the King !

Evander

Are we going to see a genocidal Jake?

Djinko

Good luck with that 🫡

Lizy Flore

That settles it. Goodbye, El’ Cheeto !

Avi Singh

Thanks for the chapter! And bloodshed it shall be! Long live the King!

TyranT-Rex

There we go, the foreshadowing we needed before the September break. Things are going to get really messy after next month.

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter 😄

None ya

Long Live the King!

Bettafish

If the king dying wasn't already bad.... the attempt almost got Sylphie too.... This isn't how you get angry Jake.... this is how you get "your entire life and death are going to be so terrible it skips past being an example or a horror story and into being a JOKE Jake"

Bojan Stankov

Long live the king !!! Fuck dignity i want vengeance 🐲🐲

Tyler S.

Its just more clear indication that Jacob has his head so far up his Divineing sense hes blind to connections of the El'hack bloodline... The fact that it would be a bloodbath has kinda been known to most at least

Jennifer Leigh

Yep. Jacob needs to learn to trust his intuition.

joel southard

Nice thank you for the chapter

BumAssBumAss

I think this child of desolate is a variable that Villy put in to ruin the narrative that EH is trying to write. At least keep the conflict going and prevent conversations which would be Jake's disadvantage.

Stuart Thwaites

as long as no one really close to him is killed Is this a reference to The Fallen King or foreshadowing of someone who is actually close to Jake?... I hope it's someone else because I don't think FK and Jake were close enough for Jake to go on a warpath.

Lizy Flore

I think it’s possible that Jacob is being influenced by EH. At least passively.

Conclave

Jake and the King were close. He was his first "Real challenge". Not a friend but some some rival in a way and he litteraly spent most of his 50 years in Nevermore with him. Jake was also definitly shaken by his death and I'm pretty sure he blames EH for the death of the King as the Child of Loss had some strange ties with him

Pierre-clément LAMBRIX

Imagine if it was sylphie who died. It would be a f**** bloodbath.

Seiryus

Jake literally said last chapter that he will hunt down everyone involved. How can you think they were not close?

Definitely (Not) a Necromancer

Oh yeah that ship already sailed when Cheeto killed the builder of the first malefic transportion circle

Red45jimster

Little off topic but wonder if fallen kings name is still on nevermore leaderboard

Andromeda Adams

Tyftc! Soon… it will be time to hunt!

AfroMocha

Hahahahahahahahahaha oh man. That fact that Bertram is the one that mentioned it is pretty funny. Look what he did to the prima eagle after it attacked hawky misty and sylphie. The king actually died. The min Jake finds out who had a hand in it there will be stars systems a wash in blood. Bloodshed would be putting it lightly.

The Grey Area

Enjoy the peace while it last Jacob, soon the hunt will begin

TheRealRoadie

First paragraph from Jacob pov "keeping a close on it " I guess eye should be in there

FastBilliam

While possible, a while back Zog wrote that Jacob and Bertram would remain separate so ol’ Berty* could tell if Jacob was acting differently, I assume even with the church’s alliance those two are still taking precautions while actually meeting with the cheeto

Archmage37

Is it genocide if it's the eradication of multiple groups? Wouldn't it be something like super-genocide or a calamity? Is this going to be Jake's intro to calamities?

Quasimagics

Nasty foreshadowing, I wonder who it will be? I'm thinking hawky/misty. A blood raged jake is bad enough but also sylphie would be some insane carnage.

Evander

Jake has mentioned that he's willing to wipe out all of his enemies family. Will see see planetary sacrifices?

Daniel Hamilton

I’m hoping for a universal purge, Sacrificed all to Villy. Jakes learned a lot about planetary sacrifice, but I’m thinking there’s a way to set up one on a grand scale Linked in a magical Circle with the planetary cores as the source and bring desolation to the 93rd universe, or maybe way for it to link to eternal hunger and feed off of everyone and everything. So far he hasn’t had a reason to go full murder hobo. Feel like he’s held himself back and in check so far.

Jordan Rogers

I see Jacob setting el’hakkan up in the final meet up. He will turn on the church outright as well at some point

Tim Schillinger

I think the child was from the event. For every planet taken down the players get minus credit and the killer of the child gets a significant bonus at the end.

Colton Horton

TFTC! "Had a hard time seeing the Galactical event end in nothing but bloodshed" Wouldn't it be "had a hard time seeing the galactic event end in anything but blooshed"?

Colton Horton

Turns out the term fornkilling everyone with the intention of driving them to extinction is "Omnicide" also, I just learned a new word today. :-)

TKOva

That'd legit be a bloodbath at the level of Villy himself. You'd see his ultimate boost immediately fuck the consequences.

TKOva

FK and Jake were Rivals and best friends. Like there was no one in the while group who would call out Jake's BS better than the FK.

Kyler

Witch vs preacher who detects who first? Find out next month on the Primal Hunter: Blood awash the stars arc!

TKOva

Naw Villy wouldn't do that. He would but that'd be too much involvement in his part and fuck with Jake too much. I honestly think The Child was a planet that was heavily influenced by eversmile or the church and directed to do something legit evil.

TKOva

Plus he already practiced a pretty high level one in nevermore. And Cheeto and his minions are doing some karmic plague level manipulation on people. So yea. As per the agreement, EH needs to die. But the church will try to protect him because they want that bloodline. And I'm hoping the church's actions are egregious that it makes Jacob move away from the church.

MistuhBogan

No it's not possible in any way. EH's bloodline ability must cease to exist. It cannot be allowed to leave EH himself, and EH cannot be allowed to have it. It's too damn dangerous for just about everyone. Imagine if EH became a god? What would the bloodline be like then? Who could withstand it as it grows? No this universe gave birth to two beings of unmatchable potential bloodlines, and they are inverse of each other. One is all about the perfect control of self, the other is about perfect control of others. One is about the origin the other represents an insidious end. They are potential pinicle existences on a head on collision course. There can only be one.

Thenais

"No one wanted a society where you could get in trouble for thinking the wrong thing" -> the UK disagree

Steven Myer

I feel an echo of the Viper causing Desolation through a large swatch of a universe and all the primals coming to stop him and the scene feels primed to have Jake repeat his actions here, maybe even that's what Eversmile and Yip want is to replay the scenario. Maybe if he copies the viper or he believes in what he did, he'll flip from a heretic to a believer and thus mess up what is happening? Also my money on Desolation Beazy is Valhalla. Fun thoughts!

SilverSentry

Nah, it's the Fallen King. Hawky and Misty are background characters at this point. Still important to him, but I doubt anything would happen in Haven. If they were to get to that point it's more likely that they'd Kill Miranda, or someone else that would disrupt Jake's stronghold.

SilverSentry

Yeah, what everyone else already said. The fact that Jake trusts the FK enough to let him travel alone with Sylphie speaks volumes. At least to me. They were in the same parry for decades. Even if thwy arent BFFs, they are probably closer than you think.

Hayden Leech

“I can’t even begin to imagine how this all ends…” I for one am praying for a full on galactic WAR! Full roar Vesperia (I think the true royal would provide the bulk of the shock troops) and her hive plus the champions of earth vs Hakans indoctrinated alliance of worlds and his fanatic church allies. It would be prettty epic and apparently a totally normal thing to happen in the multiverse.

Hayden Leech

Read a few times here that the church wouldn’t sacrifice their entire presence in the Milky Way to help Hakan. I think that’s a bit silly? That bloodline is worth a loooot more than practically any number of mortal lives to the church higher ups. It’s been said how truly MASSIVE atrocities happen frequently and nobody bats an eye. Life is a lot less valuable than it is in our world. Grr.

Hayden Leech

Plus they don’t even view it as dying. Just going off to the holy land. “What an honor.”

Hayden Leech

Spent fifty years together in nevermore. More time than he’s spent with his family. Total.

Hayden Leech

Man I wonder what the lines in the sand would be! Jake has Vesperia which brings the Endless empire to his side while also giving Hakan an excellent potential ally in the e Automaton legion El Hakan bought the church’s support by promising them his bloodline and that could let Jake pull the risen into it as the obvious counter. Umbra and the court seem to favor Jake… The Pantheon of life has strong ties to Vilas so that’s probably where they would go… Valhal is on Hakans side… officially but there seems to be something funky going on there… Ever smile is in the same boat as Valdemar. The altmar seem neutral but I bet the Autarch would side with old pal over some jumped up new god. Also dropping hints about Meira! I’m sure Arnold is going to start making things like the Reapers from Mass Effect with his Void-Reality warping Self -Replicating drone thing he has going on and start invading worlds in a race for resources. I’m starting to think I would rather the real fight be in B grade. Really ramp the scale into horrific levels.

Nate Slusher

I want to see EH turned into an orange paste in a streak accross the ground…..hoping the “premonition” is foreshadowing Jake and the gang smashing the mess out of him and team nasty bloodline. Fun to see Miranda POV….i am starting to root for William, please don’t let him turn back into an evil weirdo…..hoping for “good guy” weirdo story arc to grow!!!

Miguel Sanchez

If Sophie died instead of the FK… the need for revenge will drive him to improve himself so hard he might hit S grade at a scorching speed, then godhood just for him to kill Yip himself…

Seamus Harley

Question: How far can a bloodline be spread? I think I remember that the dragon flight girl with a bloodline was very rare even among her clan and that the more children the lower the chance. If it is so low why do the holy church value it so highly? They have billions of planets so a handful of people with EH's bloodline wouldn't be huge would it? Certainly it would be useful but I can't see it being worth more than their presence in the new galaxy if push came to shove.

tjak

One of my favourite chapters, thank you!

Luboš Hemala

I hope EH wont be the main antagonist after Jake becames B rank.

Vex

Keep in mind while yess the Automoton legion would want to get rid of Vesperia, they also likely wouldn't want to get involved since they would still like to be able to use Jake's Primeval abilities as it was already confirmed that it could work on them. Not to say they wouldn't assist. But it's something else to keep in mine

Daniel is ŁØNE

Jake has spent more time with FK than almost anyone in the multiverse including his actual family, his nevermore group might as well have been a sort of family in it's own right so there is almost no way they aren't "close". FK and Jake were rivals in their own way, and FK was Jakes first true challenge, the first being to set him on the path of a true giant slayer that has more or less defined him till now, while some might not call them friends per say, they were definitely valued comrades to one another. There is also the fact that, considering the circumstances Jake has a pretty valid reason to blame himself for this outcome so his guilt is likely higher than if it was truly an "unwinnable" scenario, it is one thing to lose a person and another entirely to lose them knowing that had you not made a single decision the outcome could potentially have been significantly different.

Arieh Sochaczevski

Thanks for the chapter! “[…] this entire galactical event end in nothing but bloodshed.” —> s/nothing/anything

Daniel is ŁØNE

You aren't wrong but making a true and permanent Enemy of Jakes might render that value mute, if it comes down to it Jake WILL go on the warpath against the church if necessary and I honestly can't see them winning that encounter unless they do swarm tactics with HIGHER grade threats which would not be received well by the rest of the multiverse and might even heavily backfire when it comes to their interests on a cosmic scale. Also jakes influence on a cosmic scale and potential power makes him a bad enemy to have even marginally, making yourself a true target of a hunter is usually ill advised.

Rahsheem Reid

I would just love for Jake to go on a hunt with orange fuck running for his life but I’d rather see more of the multiverse. I hope his end is quick and the fallout is tremendous.

Ral

Jacob had a hard time seeing this entire galactical event end in nothing but bloodshed. -> Jacob had a hard time seeing this entire galactical event end in anything but bloodshed.

Robert Warner

I can't cite a specific chapter, but I do recall it being said that the first offspring is the most potent in carrying the bloodline, and it only gets worse from there. However, even 3-4 EH babies are likely worth it to the holy church. These manipulators can act to easily reinforce the faith, bring forth more zealots, and can be used to target factions who ate resistant to conversion.

Ral

Or if bloodshed is more important -> Jacob had a hard time seeing an alternate ending to this entire galactical event, anything besides nothing but bloodshed.

DBOMB YO

Jake blows up Ell'Hakan's planet when? xD

Seen Death

Idk, ive never seen an event creature that had specific distain towards a particular enemy DC might have been an accident, but was certainly a inteligent species' creation That being said, the system could have forseen what devestation they would have caused if not eliminated, and might still give bonus credit to the slayers But none of our group actually got any kill credit for doing so (not even the fallen king to our knowledge, who directly caused it)

Seen Death

Yeah, i kind of hope Jake figures out Jacob was involved and destroys him aswell Jake hates the church, but he still has previous respect for his coworker... but that can only go so far. Helping to kill FK and involving Sylphie (his First technical child)... The church already distanced Jacob from danger /the universe as much as possible, so i would greatly look foward to the massacre leading to Jacob... but the church has their weakling sacrafices that could make it more difficult than anticipated I dont really understand why hes been so tolerated so far Hes not even his own person, he has to do whatever the church tells him, and knows way more than Jake/Miranda would feel comfortable with an enemy knowing... and the church is working with / enabling EH: the closest thing to an Archenemy that Jake has. Jacob is a liability that must be elimated.

Codewrds

Meanwhile, Arnold was Arnold. Based

Tommy

Fuck it, Jake just get back on your feet and tap into that good ol’curse energy. Exterminate half the galaxy and bring them to heel Kidding! …Unless?

DarthWaffles

Jake releases a cursed plague that only kills people who worship Ell'Hakan when?

Luke Scheffe

Bloodlines can be spread near infinitely, but they will almost never be as potent as the original holder of the bloodlines. The dragon girl was special because she had a hybrid bloodline which combined the strengths of the two parent bloodlines. In the vast majority of crossbreeding cases, it doesn’t turn out that well, and they only get an inferior version of one of the parent bloodlines.

Gafgarion

Ohh there will be blood, there’s a score to settle.

Amathew2

Not only that but if any of them reach god level then they won’t exactly die from old age. That kind of bloodline in the hands of several people all with the same mindset could be extremely powerful/dangerous.

SmokeJam

Always love those side character chapters, Miranda is still an endboss in what she does. William starts to grow on me too, I think he lacks something since turning heretic, but maybe a good opportunity will arise, especially if he keeps being around Miranda/Jake. And I look forward to the carnage coming, feels like Jake was "tame" for too long and when he unleashes, it will be a pure festival of delighted violence. I actually can't imagine how a galactic war would turn out, but it sounds like a high grade challenge to write. Really curious what Zog will come up with here.

William WIlson

The reason the curch wants Ell’Hakans Bloodline is simple, synergy. O don't get it twisted the holy church would love Jake's Bloodline if they knew all of the Bloodline. They just don't want presence resistance which is all that's really known. Minus what could be inferred by them watching Jake do Minaga’s challenge dungeon.

William WIlson

I don't think Ell’Hakans Bloodline is really top tier. I think you give Ell’Hakans Bloodline way to much credit. Simply knowing he has a Bloodline makes it far less effective. Yes it's not a weak Bloodline but it's also not pinnacle tier like Jake's or nature's attendant. It's more what the Bloodline does that makes the church want it.

William WIlson

None of that fits the books at all. Name 1 time in the series where Jake joins a war or starts a war. I'll save you the time because it's not part of the story. Both Jake and Ell’Hakan would prefer a duel like challenge not a multiversal war. Even when Jake goes against an army he doesn't bring one himself. Nah we don't get epic wars but epic solo fights with primal hunter stories.

William WIlson

One problem Ell’Hakans Bloodline didn't evolve. I'm guessing his Bloodline would be considered top tier not pinnacle like Jake's. Shit he can't even use it on a god like Jake does constantly

William WIlson

Nah it was the king end of questions. Jake's already thought about bringing back the king a 2nd time.

William WIlson

Desolate child was born during the beginning weeks of the event. System events lock gods out except in certain instances, like villy using his Transcendence and giving an offering to your Patron. The Desolate child was a servant from Ell’Hakan who was taken control of by a fucking mushroom like Jake killed below Haven. What we saw wasn't actually the body hence no notification. This also explains the irrational anger at Jake because he is walking around with half of the mushrooms pylon.

robert a bridgeman

all good points BUT no one thinking about the boots and WHO made them.

William WIlson

You're misunderstanding Jacob's path. If Jacob was involved he would no longer be an augur a limitations of his class is he can't kill anything let alone a friend of a friend. Jacob may have unknowingly been manipulated but no way did he act intentionally

Ty Cooper

I hope this Jacob cold shiver is his intuition of EH's death

Hayden Leech

Jake hasn’t started a war because… it hasn’t come up. Jakes either been in the 1st universe where his power makes him almost insignificant aside from the value in his bloodline. Or in the new one where he has no need to start a war. But he has motivation now. (Also small (relatively) wars happen all the time between even decently friendly factions. It’s considered healthy to trim away the weak. ) To be clear hakan has no interest in a duel. Remember what he said about Jake after learning he beat Valdemars image? Nah. Guy says repeatedly that combat and specific battles don’t matter. He’s a big picture schemer with hundreds of worlds of people who would die for him (bloodline karmic fuckery) and a plan. I bet that plan doesn’t involve pistols at noon.

Hayden Leech

And to your point about primal hunter not having wars… Didn’t we see the church drive Casper and the risen off the planet? One instance of that a war with “more battlefields than i care to find”? Remember the hundreds of wars that led to those slaves Jake got? The automate and the endless empire have been at war since the first era. In nevermore we saw Jake jump into a planetary war and literally kill everyone on all sides like reaping wheat (admittedly not real but still) This story has wars.

Hayden Leech

I think villy said Helenstromoz had countless siblings. It’s a Numbers game, the chances of it getting passed down are tiny… but not zero. I’d doubt a HC god would have much of an issue with impregnating hundreds of mortals every day.

Hayden Leech

Read that chapter where William and Jake talk about how the bloodline affects people when Hakan controls the planets pylon again. Plus the synergy between that bloodline and the HC Modus operandi is spectacular. Imagine if they could eventually get an augur of hope with a similar bloodline? Fucking devastating. You’re underestimating the bloodline because it doesn’t directly add to his personal combat power like Jakes does. It’s more nuanced than that. Why be good at fighting when you can simply turn your enemies into loyal allies and servants? Why fight at all when you have great hero’s and champions to do that for you?

Red45jimster

Ohhh ok was wondering on that thought it might be a way for people outside of system event to get a peek at what was going on

Hayden Leech

He can do it, remember minaga? And yip after his fight with the SS? … he just knows trying is a baaad fucking idea. Cuz the gods mind would absolutely notice.

TyranT-Rex

@William Wilson even though we haven't seen Jake initiate a war, this event seems to be building up to that eventuality. There are two main groups, Jake/ earth/kindroth alliance and EH's alliance. Jake is going to want to go after EH directly. EH wants to avoid a direct fight with Jake. So he will use his alliance as a shield. Rhat could inadvertently pull in the people who have allies with Jake as they start targetting those planets to distract Jake. So I could see Jake going full hunter mode and tracking EH where ever he goes and while EH tries to put roadblocks up. The others from earth will jump in to allow Jake to continue hunting without distractions. I don't think this drags on outside this event to the point where other larger factions get involved. I think that at the end of the event, the Gods are going to look and see an entire galaxy contolled by Jake.

TyranT-Rex

Yeah I believe Jacob's goal is to find a way to reform the church from the inside. He isn't a fan of the way they do things, but he still things it's the best option for the majority of the people in the multiverse. He is doing what he has to in order to help EH kill Primas and secure his bloodline for the church, but he wouldn't help EH kill anyone.

Kevin Watson

Zo, so far, you are the only Author to make me TRULY invested still at 15 chapters from 1000. You have really made quite the arc here, the last few arcs felt slow to me, but it was clear there were pieces being pushed together, and now in what feels like the final half of the Prima arc the whole puzzle is slowing becoming clearer, and it honestly seems like the Chosen of the Malefic Viper is about to have his first battle that really cements him as the Chosen of Villy. what could potentially be a galaxy wide war with the unbelievable juggernauts of Earth CREAMING Ell’Hakan is an extremely exciting prospect

William WIlson

The story has wars yes no question. My point wasn't that but that Jake isn't a warrior but a hunter. O and if Ell’Hakan wasn't so found of duels why was he in Nevermores arenas? Jake is a solo fighter no questions, it's fundamental to his Path. Ell’Hakan may want to throw an army at Jake but knows if they aren't on Jake's level he does nothing but send sheep for slaughter.

William WIlson

O I can definitely see Ell’Hakan sending sheep for Jake to slaughter running away like Ell’Hakan being chased by death, but one leader sending flotsum in order to save his own life isn't a fucking war. It's a coward running from his duel.

William WIlson

Yeah plus I'm not sure the Fallen King made top 10. Considering the top 10 is all that's free to look at I doubt looking to the Nevermore Leaderboards so any sort of cheat.

William WIlson

Then it doesn't work on a god. If gods notice and simply being aware is enough for anyone to ignore its influence is it actually working? Is it actually useful? He can feel emotions from God's but simply being chosen is enough for that most of the time. Plus when he gazed into Minaga he was gazing into a lvl275 Minaga not a god Minaga. Minaga is both a god and mortal at the same time.

Hayden Leech

He was in the nevermore arenas to make a spectacle of himself. He needed everyone to know there was an amazing genius about to enter. It’s his powerset, he needs people paying attention to him. He needs them to believe he is more than he is and becomes more because of it. Nevermore was one step in a big plan. And being noticed was a part of that. If he just quietly slipped in than nobody would have even known he showed up until he started crushing the leaderboards with jake Don’t get me wrong, he’s a capable combatant… but it’s not really his thing.

Hayden Leech

He made top 100 in the universe. It’s why he was at the post nevermore party.

Ty Cooper

Which I hope leads to EH's death. I fully admit I want EH to die for selfish reasons. He is so well written that he makes my skin crawl when readings his chapters. I mean that is what he is trying for and he is doing great at it. That is why I say it is selfish I want his death.

Numbzy

This week is really shaping how were going to go about this next arc. I'm really interested in how this conflict will end up playing out because our expectations are kind of getting turned on their head.

Haaki0

I think its gonna be after the climax of the current arc once orange fuck is over with and the conflict reaches its end, then id guess zogarth is gonna pick up on it once more along with other tidbits here and there and use it to continue the story more.

Richard Ulrich

Calm down Villy, Jake already declined sacrificing planets of people in your name... ffs nice try, "Tommy"

Hayden Leech

Hmmm… you’re right that it was a 275 minaga. Here let me find the line I’m looking for. “Ell’Hakan smirked, feeling the emotions in the air as Yip’s confidence grew. Manipulating the god would be foolishness itself, but he could still at least feel the emotions.” So that seems fairly clear. He can read emotions from even gods and they can’t tell he’s doing it cuz it’s bloodline fuckery. Same way jake can see when a god is watching him through bloodline fuckery. I’m pretty sure the phrasing there implies that he IS capable of messing with the emotions of a god it’s just their mental stats are so far apart that he would notice instantly. That it’s even capable of swaying the mind of a god in the first place makes that bloodline wild. Bloodlines exist outside the system and gods get their powers/abilities from the system. You gotta remember tho. Jake and hakan are C grades! Villy said just one of his skills has more records than Jakes whole existence. The church wants the bloodline for what it might be capable of when somebody with it becomes a god and their stats are not exponentially less than a gods.

James Evans

the great sage created them. also won’t find out more until jake is lvl 300 alchemy.

Jacob Roberts

Every character and organization is so well written and sometimes even though as the reader you always side with Jake the way everything in the multiverse is you could easily see any of the “adversary” characters as doing the right thing if you frame it from their perspective or at worse miss guided… it just leads so much credence to the world and characters that zogarth has created here, there is paths for redemption or corruption with every character and also what makes it all seem so unendingly interesting, no other web novel or even book series I’ve read has been able to keep me this devoted and entertained this far into it, honestly great work Zogarth just incredible

Mat

Completely agree on the Jake being tamed part. I think because of him always considering EH moves, he has been to worry of the political ramifications. I believe it is time he take the Viper’s advise of be powerful enough so that they don’t try s**t.

Mat

And the whole multi-verse understands

ShivaMcTimber

TYFTC! I hope we see SON OF FALLEN KING! It wont be the King himself returning, but maybe we are witnessing a possible Unique creature being seeded in the mask.

DeamoniumDraco

You also have to keep in mind how many Chosen and just powerful people in general that come from the Milky Way. Not only would they make a ton of enemies who can lead whole factions (if the god is cool with it), they would lose a good portion of their newest batch of members as well as their Augar. Jacob is worth more to them at the end of the day I think. He got requests from damn near every god or faction when he got his class due to its rarity and value

Lexae

The augur sees the future, not the past. It was definitely a shiver about what's to come.

Danny

I will create my own holiday the day that orange fuk get smoked ... Realy a greate enemy Zogarth!

Phasmatic7

Thankies for the chapie zogie

ShivaMcTimber

Yes! If Jake uses his Jake Juice, then it would be like he and the FK had a kid together. Well I just made it weird.

Kyle

Miranda has sure come a long way. From being horrified at Jake’s willingness to kill, to performing rituals to remotely dump dissidents in a death swamp because it’s slightly easier on the budget.

Roy

I concur. The whole structure of the universe Zogarth created is interesting and anything but shallow. I'll gladly take filler content for character update/growth any time because of how invested I find myself.

DirePants

Great chapter. A little too close to home tho lol kind of defeats my purpose in escaping away in to an imaginary world lol but damn how bad ass is Miranda?? I would really like to see that ability in action from her point of view one day. They say don’t fuck with witches in their domain… especially one that create a lagoon and suck you up 🙂‍↕️… meanwhile I can’t get a text back 🥁 and good job with William- I’m still apprehensive about him for all the reasons Miranda states but showing his PTSD from the constant manipulation was a great choice. On top of the orange fuck and cult, a cult like religion, conspiracy theories, and misinformation, you managed to really cover a lot in a well written way.

Olof Karlsson

Thanks for the chapter!

James Evans

sentence update?: He had been keeping a close on on it. close eye?

Gavin Soganile

I personally think Eversmile created the desolate child N brainwashed it to hate Jake

Kconraw

Thx for the chapter

dash w

Thanks for the chapie

Alex

What if a brainwashed planet did a ritual...

Ray Light

"He had been keeping a close on it over the last weeks and noticed something…" Think the word "eye" is missing.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.
