After Jake agreed to a private meeting, he could once more return to just being a background character as Duskleaf and Nature’s Attendant kept speaking. Yggdrasil wasn’t very active at all in the conversation but did add a sentence here and there. From this brief meeting, Jake got the feeling that while Yggdrasil was the official leader of the Pantheon of Life, Nature’s Attendant was definitely the one doing the primary work of running it.

Luckily, this initial meeting wasn’t very long as it was only to greet one another and do a small exchange. Duskleaf had brought a few gifts from the Order of the Malefic Viper, which were all resources in large quantities. From that, Jake also understood that the flasks he’d been given by Villy weren’t technically from the Order but from the Viper himself, which meant the faction also had to bring some gifts.

It all mainly seemed symbolic as everything that was gifted could just have been traded for, but Jake didn’t speak up but just enjoyed not having much attention on him. As the initial meeting wound to an end, the other gods present from the Pantheon of Life were asked to act as escorts – no, not that kind - for those from the Order of the Malefic Viper during their visit. A number of these gods also went off in a big group as they wanted to discuss a trade agreement or something. Jake honestly wasn’t listening much to their conversation as he was more focused on what he was to do next.

“Nimera, would you please escort the Grand Elder to the residence provided to him?” Nature’s Attendant asked one of the gods. “And if possible, could you remain here, Artemis? Seeing as you two encountered one another within Nevermore, you can escort the Chosen of the Malefic Viper to his lodgings after we’re done speaking with him.”

Artemis and the Godqueen named Nimera both nodded before this Godqueen approached the Grand Elder. “Sir, if you would follow me.”

“Of course,” Duskleaf agreed as he threw a glance at Nature’s Attendant. “Do also come by later, alright? I have some things I would like to discuss with you regarding you-know-what.”

Nature’s Attendant nodded with a serious look. “That was already the plan.”

Duskleaf and the god named Nimera teleported away a moment later, leaving only five people remaining.

“How about me? Who’s gonna escort me?” Minaga asked, looking around at the wooden chamber that now only had himself, Jake, Artemis, Nature’s Attendant, and Yggdrasil.”

“We didn’t know about your coming, so we hadn’t summoned anyone to do so,” Yggdrasil spoke. “But one should arrive shortly. In the meantime, you can stay here with Artemis as we discuss matters with the Vilas’ Chosen.”

“Alright, I guess I can wait a bit,” Minaga said, throwing a look toward Artemis. Jake responded by glaring at Minaga, who just gave a cheeky smile in response, making it clear he was planning to do something.

“Great,” Nature’s Attendant nodded before turning to Jake. “Now, if you will come with us. You are okay with entering the true domain of the Mother Tree, right?”

“Sure,” Jake agreed, just guessing that this true domain was the crown of Yggdrasil. He’d been wanting to go there anyway after seeing it, so getting invited was awesome. Plus, he seriously doubted any of these gods had any malicious intent because if they did, he would already be long dead.

“Then allow me to take you,” Nature’s Attendant said as he lifted his hand. Jake felt the space magic begin around him, at a level where if he resisted, it would fail. He naturally didn’t but allowed himself to be affected, and in the very next second, he disappeared from Yggdrasil’s trunk and appeared within her crown.

--

Within the trunk, Nature’s Attendant also teleported out as Yggdrasil’s dryad body rapidly withered and disappeared, leaving only a pair of gods there.

“Well, it seems like it’s just the two of us left,” Minaga said with a big smile. He also subtly created an isolation barrier that would even block out Yggdrasil should she try to listen in despite the conversation happening within her trunk.

“So it seems,” Artemis acknowledged.

“You’re the one assigned to escort Jake after he’s back, huh...” Minaga continued.

“That is what I was told to do, yes,” Artemis once more answered shortly.

“Cool, cool, cool,” Minaga nodded. “And do you plan on leaving his lodgings again after escorting him there?”

“I assume he will need to know some basic knowledge about the Pantheon of Life, and I may as well provide it,” the wood elf goddess said.

“Yeah, does seem like a good idea to talk a bit,” Minaga agreed.

Artemis sighed as she looked at the All-God Legion. “Can you just come out and ask me already?”

“Will you answer me? How about this, I’ll leave you be and maybe even give you a little trinket if you agree to answer five small questions of mine,” Minaga proposed.

“One question,” Artemis said shortly.

“Four.”

“Two.”

“And we meet in the middle with three,” Minaga grinned. “Which was my plan from the very beginning.”

Artemis didn’t bother commenting as she sighed again. “Ask away, but you need to guarantee I get something out of having you pry in my social life. And it can’t just be some useless thing.”

“Alright, promise,” Minaga said, clearly pleased with himself. “First question... on a scale of one to ten, how likely are you to kill Jake over what happened in Nevermore? Ten being him definitely not surviving his escort to his lodgings.”

“Zero. One if that’s not an option,” Artemis answered without any hesitation.

“... I would have liked for you to expand your answer a little more, but me asking you to elaborate would definitely count as a second question, so I’m not gonna do that,” Minaga said as he seemed in thought for a moment.

“Second question. Do you hold any resentment towards either your image or Jake’s actions during the Colosseum of Mortals?”

“No,” Artemis once more answered, though she was being nice to Minaga by elaborating at least a little. “He did nothing wrong, and I can only guess that if I had been in the same position as my image, I would have acted very similarly, if not identical.”

“I see, I see,” Minaga nodded. “I will also take that as confirmation that you don’t plan on filing any official complaint against Nevermore. Would make us look bad and make it harder to gather images of gods for the future.”

“That was not a question,” Artemis pointed out.

“Oh, I know,” Minaga smiled, seemingly in thought once more. “Okay, final question... what would you want first? A boy or a girl?”

“I do not have any preference toward the meat I eat,” Artemis answered the final question.

“You know that wasn’t what I was asking about!” Minaga protested.

“I don’t know that. I can infer that, but it was also entirely possible my interpretation of your question was correct,” Artemis said, feeling as if she’d gotten one over the Unique Lifeform.

However, Minaga still smiled. “You avoided answering my question, though... which means you at least considered what I asked.”

“Truthfully, I did not,” Artemis shook her head. “It isn’t something I would have an opinion on, as I would always leave something like that to nature.”

“Wow... are you-“

“You’re out of questions,” Artemis cut him off. “And now you owe me something for prying.”

“... fine, but you better talk fondly of your great friend Minaga from here on out with all who ask,” the Unique Lifeform said as he opened his inventory to search it. “And you’re damn lucky this was the me I used to explore the Emerald Forest...”

--

Jake opened his eyes to an all-new environment, both visually and energy-wise. Beforehand, when Jake had been within the trunk of Yggdrasil, the mana in the air was still primarily environmental mana, even if Yggdrasil was the one who controlled it.

However, now, Jake instantly felt that all the mana around him had a clear owner. To even call it environmental mana wasn’t even accurate anymore, as all of it belonged to the being who’d created the world he now found himself in.

Glancing around, he saw they were atop a grand, lush mountain with massive forests in all directions. Looking up, Jake didn’t see the night sky but what looked like a cover of faintly glowing leaves that extended endlessly in all directions, encompassing everything.

“Welcome to my divine realm,” a voice echoed as a person with the exact same mana signature as the environment manifested beside him. He turned and saw Yggdrasil, who looked quite a bit different now than before. She still resembled a dryad, but she looked a lot more flesh and blood now than before, even if Jake knew she wasn’t.

“It’s definitely a lot more interesting than the Viper’s,” Jake commented right as Nature’s Attendant also teleported over. When he did, Jake realized something. The Nature’s Attendant that he had met outside had only been a clone, and now he very strongly suspected this was the real one because the aura of this version of him felt a lot stronger.

Nature’s Attendant noticed Jake’s gaze as he chuckled and turned to Yggdrasil. “I told you he could tell.”

“You did,” Yggdrasil answered, her mouth not even moving, yet her words appeared all around Jake. “Tell me, Vilas’ Chosen, what are you feeling right now? What has changed?”

Jake wasn’t sure if he was being tested or something, but either way, he decided to just be honest as he shrugged. “Well, obviously, the environment feels quite a bit different compared to before. It’s all your mana. As for Nature’s Attendant, that’s a different version of him than the one outside, and as this one feels stronger, I assume it may be his true body. As for what I’m feeling... nothing in particular. Except that it would be very annoying to fight anything here.”

“What do you think there is to fight?” the Primordial continued asking.

“There are a lot of C-grades in the forest below, and in that direction, I can detect some B-grades, too,” Jake said as he motioned toward the north. “I should avoid the southern region, though... pretty sure there’s a way too powerful B-grade somewhere there.”

“Fascinating. You do indeed have powerful senses... perhaps that explains how you’ve managed so far,” Yggdrasil continued. “I have wondered how a creature such as you can even survive, but it appears your survival instinct and danger sense allow you to choose risks wisely.”

“You brought me here to study who I am?” Jake asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I will admit there is some curiosity,” Nature’s Attendant said with a smile. “Though I will say it’s partly your fault. You do continue to surprise, sparking intrigue even now. You say that the body before you is the real one, while the one you met outside wasn’t. I believe that out of everyone there, besides Yggdrasil herself, you would be the only one able to tell the difference.”

“I’m not gonna deny I have good senses,” Jake said, wondering if perhaps he’d revealed too much. He reckoned that by now, the two in front of him had to have some level of understanding about Jake. While he did trust Dina, he definitely assumed she would answer any questions from her family members and the leader of her faction, so through her, they should already know everything he had revealed, at least for the most part.

Then again, seeing was believing.

“More than good, I would say,” Nature’s Attendant chuckled. “Do say, what do you think of this world? What can you tell me about it?”

Jake took a moment to once more stare out at the infinitely expanding forest as he wondered out loud. “We’re not on anything resembling a planet... I would assume it’s more like a flat plane. Moreover, while the mana here is strong, it’s definitely not to the level I would expect it to be within the divine realm of a god, much less a Primordial’s, making it evident at least this area had its energy intensity and quantity reduced. Likely with the intent of allowing the C and B-grade monsters to live here.”

“Good insight,” Yggdrasil commented. “Has Vilas ever spoken of my divine realm?”

“Never,” Jake shook his head. “Also, this is only the second time I’ve ever been in a divine realm... well, unless you count Nevermore, I guess.”

“I see. Are you interested in how mine works?” she asked. Jake found the line of questioning a bit odd, and while he assumed she was trying to lead the conversation somewhere, he wasn’t sure what she wanted to get to. As for seeing more about divine realms...

“That would be awesome,” Jake wholeheartedly agreed. He’d already borderline concluded that divine realms and Soulspaces were more or less the same in principle, so learning more about divine realms could only be a good thing considering his own Soulspace progress.

Yggdrasil waved her hand at his positive response as the area all around them was suddenly filled with leaves. All of them had faint transparent bubbles covering them, and when he glanced around, he saw what looked like clouds hanging over some of these small leaves, making him frown.

One particular leaf amongst the tens of thousands caught his attention more than any other. Jake couldn’t help but walk closer as he bent over and looked at its surface extremely closely. There, in the middle of it, he saw what looked like a very faint pimple when he squinted... which was when he realized.

“We’re on this leaf,” Jake muttered as he leaned back and looked at all the leaves around them. The leaf he identified them being on was one of the smallest ones, with other leaves several times larger floating primarily in the air above. If all of these leaves had huge planes of life like the one who was currently on... this divine realm was utterly massive.

“How many leaves are there in total?” Jake asked. Sure, he could count the ones summoned, but he had a feeling there were more than currently shown.

“You can see for yourself,” she answered and waved her hand again, and Jake’s eyes opened wide in the very next moment.

Leaves covered his vision, bathing the entire mountain and sky above the surrounding forest. Jake wasn’t even foolish enough to try and count them because even when he released a Pulse of Perception that covered more than three hundred kilometers in all directions... he still only saw leaves everywhere.

He could only stare as he wondered out loud: “Just how many creatures live within here? How strong are they? Are they born here?”

“This is a world of life,” Nature’s Attendant answered with a smile. “As for how strong... there are many gods living within here. Some of them are even natives of this world, having been born and ascended without knowing about the multiverse’s existence before achieving godhood. Mind you, we do not try to keep it a secret, but neither do we wish to interfere with those who live here as long as it can be avoided.”

Jake was astonished at the sheer scope of things as he muttered. “This is practically an entirely new universe.”

“Not yet,” Yggdrasil answered. “Though one day, it shall truly rival one.”

At that moment, Jake was once more reminded just how powerful Primordials truly were. He met and talked to them like people, but during encounters like these, he understood just how unfathomable they were compared to him. He began to better understand why so many beings in the multiverse worshipped them as utterly supreme and unapproachable beings.

But more than anything... the thought of such beings existing in the multiverse couldn’t help but get him excited. Excited just how far away the horizon truly was, Jake not once doubting it would one day be within his arrow’s reach.

I was just thinking another chapter would be nice. And here it is

Julian

"... act as escorts – not, not that kind ...", should be "no not" unless this is a wink wink nudge nudge kinda thing.

One Winged Angel

Minaga over here demanding uncle status.

Unwillingmainer

Great stuff all around. Minaga getting some fun info out of Artemis and Jake learning more about Divine Realms and the Primordials. Wonder how long it will take before someone drags him away so Artemis can "show" him his residence?

Arrogant Savant

Ngl Jake would unwittingly lead himself to his death without his instincts & danger sense retaining his same desire to hunt.

Sylphie

REE!

Gavin

That yggdrasil world reveal was amazing. Great piece of writing

Straat Junon

Nice chapter! Tyfc

PDDG Glaser

Tftc Am I the only one who is confused by the hints at Artemis having negativ emotions towards Jake, didn't we have the interactions in nevermore, I mean the watch party, where it became obvious that she wants Jake, or is at least interested in him?

Levi

Tomorrows cliffhanger will be Jake saying some sort of awkward hello to arty

Xander

TFTC :) Suggested edits: "*not*, not that kind" should be "no" "with *the* Vilas’ Chosen." extra word. "out of having you pry *in* my social life." should be "into" "I would have acted very similarly, if not identical." this doesnt really work maybe "my actions would have been very similar, if not identical." "To *even* call it environmental mana wasn’t *even* accurate anymore" repetition. Maybe ditch one "sure there’s *a way too powerful B-grades* " switching between singular and plural. Either ditch the "a" or the "s" "why so many *beings* in the multiverse worshipped them as utterly supreme and unapproachable *beings*" repetition. Maybe ditch one.

lockx

I couldn't help but read that twice through. Thank you for the chapter! The Minaga questions were fantastic, and I really am going to enjoy the conversation between the Yggdrasil and Nature's Attendant after Jake returns to Artemis

taylor ritchie

Great ending to this chapter thx as always was great

Esch

I hope Artemis is better at naming things otherwise their first kid will end up being called Kiddie

Jordan Rogers

Jake will need to learn some lumberjack skills if he decides to hunt this primordial

A Flashy BR

Tyftc awesome realm

Roy

I've always found the concept of universes, or smaller worlds existing within a higher beings body/soul interesting.

PDDG Glaser

Yeah but few chapters ago, Jake also wasn't really sure, I'm just worried I really hope for little Jakes

Ricky Keenum

Like lock said Minaga doesn’t get emotions like that. Also Jake’s last interaction with her was under “supervision” of a bunch of primordials and not much could happen. It’s always feasible that a “virgin goddess” would get annoyed that some random C rank mortal got rid of half her title in a simulation. But she’s not so stuck up as to care, so it’ll all work out… for sure!

Dan

Is it just me, or would Minaga have possibly killed Artemis right then and there if she answered too high on the 1-10 scale? We can't forget the majority of the multiverse gives him a free pass to do as he pleases, since they don't like the outcome of a pissed Minaga. Side note, I wonder what Jake Juice would do to a Minaga 🤔

Sylas Varga

Artemis is so on the Jake train (not like that(yet))

Jana

Didn’t Eversmile use one of Yggdrasils leaves to revive William? Considering what these things are able to do I’d say he overpaid.

Jordan

Excellent chapter!

Matthew Smith

Honestly the dynamic between Yggdrasil/Natures Attendant and Jake is so nice to see. Oh and in general this shit was cool as hell but getting a better look into Yggdrasils divine realm was great.

Staudi

Zyftc zog!

Andy Swearingen

Now I'm wondering if the item " leaf of Yggdrasil " requires her to sacrifice an entire ecosystem to create.

Eden

wouldn't it do nothing? coz he's unique, so he is his origin, right?

PatienceHoney

Spin off! Primal Jack! Which would, of course, include his good friend from before... John.

Justin Moen

Great chapter! Thanks!

Jordan Rogers

So we taking bets on which primordial Jake eventually hunts? I’m thinking Rigoria, though eversmile probably has it coming, but Jake has had atleast a semi positive experience with the rest of them, though I could see him having an out with the holy church but probably only that one branch..

wyattmon

This is a very cool reveal for Yggdrasil, definitely excited to see more of her and hype for the pantheon as a whole.

Dan

@Eden By that logic, it shouldn't be risky for Jake to pour Juice into his mask to see if it would bring the king back; because worst case scenario, it does nothing or just brings the actual king back, right?

Alexander C Hyde

In the meantime, you can stay here with Artemis as we discuss matters with (the) Vilas’ Chosen.” (Is the selected word needed here?)

Dallin S

I do want to know what Minaga gave to Artemis because that dude always gives interesting things.

Xander

Minaga might just be checking that Artemis wasnt just being on good behaviour since she was at the adults table for want of a better metaphor. If artemis believed that the image acted in a way that wasn't at all in line with her own personality then it would cause problems for Nevermore since other gods wouldnt want their images acting in a manner that might cause them real world issues. Also this is seems like just another excuse for Minaga to be a little shit :D

Goofy

I wonder what will happen with the fallen king. Will Jake ask for help bringing him back?

Ira White

Hahahahaha I can't wait to see how many swerves Zog tosses at us to delay the chat between Jake and Artemis lmao my guess is Friday of next week or the following Monday 🤣 🤣 🤣

Jordan Rogers

Technically star seizing titan doesn’t have a interaction aside from yip attacking it

Naotsugu97

I love when Zogarth breaks the fourth wall ala Burt Reynolds! TFTC!

Sean

Yup Yggdrasil is a total hoot! She has officially beat out Minaga as my second favorite god. “Oh don’t mind this whole realm that I’m turning into an entire universe” like it was a Tuesday.

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

Abhishek

One day within arrows reach. HA! love it!

denym123

But Jake has confidence issues when it comes to how others perceive him, same reason he worries about his family everytime he is about to see them. As for Minaga I think it is more that it would be very possible for a god to be upset that Jake went there with their image and was just checking in to keep Jake safe. You can say a lot about Minaga but he is very interested in Jake and seems to actually like him, which is pretty understandable given he seems to be mostly tolerated by the multiverse at large while Jake is genuinely friendly with him without an agenda.

joel southard

Thank you for the chapter

Alexander C Hyde

“I should avoid the southern region, though... pretty sure there’s a way too powerful (B-grade)B-grades somewhere there.”

Jayce Sul

I wonder what Yggdrasil would say if you asked her if a virus was a lifeform or not

Grey John

Love it. Absolutely banging chapter. The interactions between the characters is so good

Rui

depends on how much it costs Yggdrassil to part with one. abundance doesn't mean cheap if the price is still high.

Roguewave1737

Yeah, the two day hiatus was totally prep to maximize cliffhanger damage this week, wasn't it? Maybe still somewhat as explained, but at least a multi purpose hiatus...

Preston bodenheimer

Personal opinion is that he should stay dead and perhaps a small small arc to round out what he left Jake.

Jessica Anderson

He tried to name Sylphie after her parents at first, so other options are Jakie or Artie. He likes race related names too, and we can assume Jake’s actually race is primal hunter related given he not really human. So perhaps his naming sense will mature and there will be a Hunter Junior in the family?

Lawrence Dillon

Lmao artemis and Jake sitting in a tree…

Jessica Anderson

Zograth the depth and breadth of your imagination never ceases to amaze me. So many great stories out there that basically consist of “main character has back story and does stuff while coming into contact with other characters who are one-dimensional and only exist to serve whatever MC is doing”. Not so with your books. You make me feel like you could write a fully fleshed out book for virtually every single character and object we come in contact with. I was rereading book 10 the other day and it struck me how even something as simple and trivial as Jake’s puzzle box and the Seeker God who created it hints at such a great depth of context, backstory, and independent existence within the universe you created. Reading about such nuanced and in-depth details for even trivial side story lines leaves me humbled at your imagination and creativity. Your books really teleport someone to an entirely different existence. Please don’t ever stop sharing your stories with us.

Lynderyn

Bold of you to assume there will be a chapter tomorrow. I was under the impression that there wouldn’t be Friday chapters for a while

khielira

Now that's a good question. But it might be more about the potential a leaf has. Like if the items are just budding leaves a power for the item is the potential of what could have been. Though it could be the sacrifice of a mini world that is converted into power just as easily. It will be interesting to see what the answer is.

Polaris

Uncles Villy and Minaga would make for crazy birthday parties

Matt

Agree with Preston, if characters can't die for good any risks they take are meaningless

Greg Meller

It’s almost like Zog is playing us, like one of his primordials would enjoy doing. And we are lapping it up

Connor

Thanks for the chapter

brjenness

honestly, I'm hoping Artemis admits to seeing why her image was attracted to Jake, buy takes a trainer roll for now. put him thru boot camp to improve the chances of him making it to godhood.

Jordan Rogers

Following Monday does sound like when the start of the conversation will happen, it’ll be round about and probably involve telling the god level minaga to scram cause he is still hiding nearby🤦

ABTelford

Once again a great chapter! The Artemis & Minaga conversation had me giggle, then the Jake section was its own brand of awesome. His excitement at the end was a great touch!

Johnsmith

This was a really nice chapter

Trent Noble

I’m lowkey confused about the whole leaves thing containing a universe and them existing on one of the leaves. Anyone mind explaining?

Cyranosaurus

This was quite nice. Thank you! It is amazing how much material you put out each week …..yet I still wish for more……such a fun story! Thank you Zog!!

Ira White

Oh I think Villy is gonna make a suprise appearance too just so he can watch the show with NA, Ygg, Duskleaf, and Minaga

Exaiter

He got jakes back with those questions. Pretty sure viper had a finger in him joining. Prolly to make sure Artemis wouldnt snuff him out or something

Sanguinar

That was such a banger last line.

Luboš Hemala

I hope Jake will have some insight into the Meditation skill from Yggdrasil.

Thomas kellerhuis

Loved this chapter and just wish I could binge read further

Darshar Griffonmane

From what I understand, the World Tree has split its domain realm into many "realms" or planes of existences. Each of those realms is a leaf on the World tree itself. I believe that Jake is standing in one of the realms itself and the World Tree was simply showing him which realm they were standing in by showing him how the world tree works.

brjenness

would anyone really put it past the viper/zog to have not told him/us that there is something about Jake's bloodline that is beneficial to even primordials when the are around him enough.

Kuurth

To my understanding, within Yggdrasil’s domain there’re a number of self-contained ecosystems, each existing on one of the leaves of her true body. The meeting they are having is occurring on one of those leaves, so that’s the “existing on one of the leaves” part. For her containing a universe, I assumed it was because last chapter or the one before they talked about Yggdrasil and another primordial constantly growing, so the number of leaves/worlds within her domain would also grow, and at a certain point she’d functionally be her own standalone universe.

Rewdan

Thank you Zogarth this is really good stuff, really good stuff …… that’s what I normally say to my deal erm I mean pharmacist.

Rewdan

I’d pay more for this lots more at least $1.00

Tristan

Who wants to bet Jake has forgotten about the gifts hes supposed to give already

Daniel Brian

Fantastic chapter! Love the perspective on a primordial's power!

C. Adkins

The leaves are part of Ygg’s divine realm. Each leaf is its own plane of existence (maybe a planet size, maybe more). The size of leaves may be in relation to the power level of the creatures in it. And it looks like Ygg is just straight up creating a universe in her own divine realm, which has some power implications for the multiverse

Carl Never

Yeah planes of existance like the endless planes shashed a bunch of lands together to make them more expansive. Its like that but shes taking the nutrients fron the planets shes growing from and growing her own worlds on every leaf. Ever play oblivion? Thats how it be

Carl Never

Artimis isnt even ashamed shes proud of her decisions. Jake better be afraid this womans got teeth

Carl Never

Its worth 10$ a month to talk to all of you and hear what you think really expands the story in my mind. Thanks all

Fyrtue

Definitely a nice throwback to his current class with the last line of this chapter and the class description. As a reminder from the Arcane Hunter of Horizon's Edge class: "Do not turn away your gaze, but forever face the endless horizon till one day you attain the impossible and reach its edge – or at the very least slay whatever resides there."

SinCinnamon

Yggdrasil is the coolest. I want Mama Yggdrasil as my Patron!

SinCinnamon

THE trick question. They are nature’s automaton, that’s my answer.

Kt-x

Thank you for the chapter! 😁

Crjourdan

I hope this series continues for ever 😂

Patrick Camp

“the other gods present from the Pantheon of Life were asked to act as escorts – no, not that kind - “ Anybody else annoyed by the “no, not that kind” line? It was bad enough when it just made me waste time trying to remember if there was a reason to think the gods were “that kind” of escort. Then Minaga makes the same joke but subtly in a spot where it makes sense for an irreverent asshole to make it while needling his buddy’s girl. Should have been funny, but ruined by the narrator having already made the joke.

Michael Fannon

Seems to be Jake's type. Irin and Carmen had to be very upfront about it after all. Miera will probably be the same once she gets back from nevermore.

Michael Fannon

That, that is an interesting point. Shouldn't it be just an active resistance to presences though? But who can put pressure on a Primordial or other top tier god? Oh, I wonder if Minaga was the first to really notice this...

JJB4345_80_815

Yes, thank you for the chappy Zogarth! And for this chapter's ending line, which is utterly awesome, by the way! And thank you for the story while I am at it! 🙏

brjenness

nope. didn't bother me at all. Just felt like zog making fun of us.

brjenness

I'm hoping we get a second or two of Artemis wondering if she should be offended when she she's how excited Jake gets when she explains that she's just going to help him train his hunting skills for now.

Anime Problem

So we're definitely eventually gonna get a side story of Jake and Calebs kids and whatever system fuckery that entails.

brjenness

I was thinking maybe something that strengthens/refreshes their existing records or something like that or just a side effect of being around someone that treats them like a person.

JJB4345_80_815

The Holy Mother used Jake as a tool for house cleaning. While I can see Jake having other Primordials higher on his hit list, I can totally see him getting revenge by destroying her Transcendent Skill creating an afterlife for her worshippers. Jake totally hates how that Skill gives people the excuse to go kamikaze on their enemies. I think that Jake finds that specific Skill to be abhorrent. Vesperia would have to be slaughtered by Rigoria in order to make the list IMHO. Same with Stormild. Although she's a roaming natural disaster, so if she ever roamed a little too close to Earth... The Daofather is a huge mystery. Probably not BUT under the right circumstances I could be persuaded of his candidacy. Eversmile is MY personal favorite for being the # 1 contender for Jake's Primordial death match. Karmic Plagues. Attacking Jake in his sleep while he was STILL in the Tutorial. During the Ell'Hakan invasion of Earth he ordered William to sew hatred for humanity in the natural wildlife critters. Eversmile hates how Jake can spot him no matter what. Yeah, he gotta go.

Ufuoma

Yeah, it did feel out of place for the pantheon of life. The only place in the multiverse that I'd accept that escort action would be the floor of hell where the succubus are(second i think), and even in that situation I'd still find it out of place since I'm sure it'd be disrespectful to offer that to the chosen of the malefic viper.

brjenness

I saw it as zog pausing, letting out a frustrated breath, and turning to his idiot friend (us) and having to explain the obvious.

FringeZtar

I also wondered about this.. Did this mean Yggy had to sacrifice all the people in that leaf to turn it into an item for Eversmile (basically harvesting all that life energy somehow)? Or was the leaf empty and the records of what it could hold be enough to turn it into the item Eversmile used? Also, is Yggy's domain also a transcendent skill? I have so many questions.

Tr0LLach

Jake doesn't have a Karmic link to all the Primordials, First Sage's boots do.

Michael Ferguson

“I do not have any preference toward the meat I eat,” Artemis answered the final question. Is she bisexual? I would have sead she prefers women till she met Jake. Now I think she prefers hunters.

brjenness

see...Patrick and Ufuoma.. zog knows us. lol michael.. I think she was just being a smartass instead of answering the question. now if she goes to he'll wedding with Jake and irin, we'll probably find out. unless irin plays the good little mistress and pretends to be just an administrative assistant.

Biggy smalls

Yep. So many other litrpgs and just action/adventure books in general struggle with writing side characters. Most scenes find the side character talking about the main character. Or scenes with them taking lead feel like the author is demonstrating subtlety, or not so subtlety, how diminished this character is compared to the MC. That’s definitely not the case in Zogs Primal Hunter. Zog could write an engaging fic about just about any character he’s introduced in this series. That’s the marker of a truly great piece of fiction.

Biggy smalls

I agree with this in principle, but not in the case of FK. His truesoul is in Jake’s mask. Plus, Jake got another piece of FK back after DC died. It wouldn’t make sense if FK was gone for good in this circumstance. It’s not like Zogs above killing important characters. Both Yip and EH just bit the dust. If a characters got a well established means of reving themselves and it’s not a deus ex machina then I’m cool with it. Sandy and FK have got well established means of revival.

Biggy smalls

I don’t think he hunts any of them as of this moment. They’ve given him no reason to. If anything I could see Jake hunt beings that the primordials themselves fight. Maybe there’s creatures even the primordials can’t best that Jake will take on.

Dragon

No, Jake won’t have a kid until he’s a god remember. The age difference between his brothers kid would be toooo large by then

Dragon

Like the previous comment I have to specify that the first sage had the karmic connection to all the primordials and his boots by extension. Moreover we have seen a lot of karma in that one world, and ever smiles heritic disciple, and it’s never been said that it reaches into the past. Would be too op for karmic mages to track people

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Daniel Hamilton

Really awesome divine world, i’m curious if that’s gonna give Jake inspiration on his? Really pumped for his meeting with Artimis. I’m curious if any of the Gods are gonna give him problems? I sensed some foreshadowing. Also, nice to see the legion sticking up for Jake, or at least worried about him. Enjoying the Bromance. I absolutely hope Jake ask for some bark, sap and leaves (be an awesome bday gift for Villy) actual primordial ingredients.

dash w

Thanks for the chappy

Daniel Hamilton

Excited for his gift for her, Probably gonna throw her through a loop knowing Villy it is going to be going to be good.

Daniel Hamilton

And I wanna know more on the realm he said he visited what it holds that Gods would find interesting

Daniel Hamilton

, I’m with you. I thought he was testing the waters. Him and Jake got a Bromance going.

brjenness

just point out that the boots were on Jake's feet when eversmirk noticed the links which ackshually were to Jake's big toe. what can I say.. living millions of years and you try all kinds if kinky stuff.

Alex

Not sure what Jake can really gain from experiencing Yggdrasil's divine realm; a lot of the fuckery going on here is due to the fact she's integrated it into her body, and THAT'S only possible because she's a massive tree.

Bobtur

Jack doesn’t have a karmic link to all primordials. His boots do.

Daniel Hamilton

I’m thinking of the spatial concepts And the ability to hold life on each leaf. I can envision jake making his into a forest filled with living beings worth hunting. A endless hunting ground. The deeper you go, the deadlier it gets with changing landscapes and worlds increasing in challenge and danger with getting lost part of it. Everything adopting becoming more deadlier to you the longer you stay. That way he’s constantly able to push himself.

Carl Never

Yeah that was just the author having fun with the audience it wasnt from any prospective he just reads our coments and figures we would have fun with the same jokes

Maple Hound

This is the 4th time Jake has been into someone's realm, Third individual Realm.

Maple Hound

1st time when he met the Viper. Second time when he met Stormild. Third time was shortly after his coming out ceremony as Villys chosen. (Back to Villys Realm)

Alex

I don’t think that could ever work; Jake hunts things that are stronger than him — how could HIS divine realm produce things that are stronger than him? That’d be an infinite Records glitch, and I don’t see any scenario where the System would allow it.

brjenness

Probably nothing but I guarantee Minaga would claim it made him even handsomer.

Esch

Jake's first Primordial "Hunt" will be the Malefic Viper. Obviousy It won't be a fight to the death, they're bff after all but remember that Jake's very first thought upon seeing the Viper's Mural waaaay back in the tutorial was "damn I want to fight that Dragon".

DeamoniumDraco

I doubt it is cheap seeing as she essentially has to cut off part of her divine realm to make it. While not a huge impact on her power based on how many were just shown, it is still technically a small step backward in what is essentially her seat of power.

lamp

Thanks for the chapter! Minor typo here where there is a mix of singular “a” and plural “B-grades” “pretty sure there’s a way too powerful B-grades somewhere there.”

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Ur saying that Jake will meet and gain karma from all the primordials I think what my predecessors were trying to articulate that the karma web is just because of the fact that it’s the first sages and not anything to do with Jake.

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

But tbh I agree with you in that Jake will most probably meet with every primordial. They are too important to just be background characters. And a big part of the story is Jake walking around resisting primordials.

David

With all this teasing if Jake and Artemis do not end up as a couple I'm going to riot

Paul B

I think he's talking about physically being in these divine realms. The rest were soul projections brought by duengon fuckery or Jake antics with soul projections, or rituals for Stormild

Corvid

Yeah, that's one of the things I enjoy about zog's writing style. All the miniature fourth wall breaks casually sprinkled in. Gives the fun "questionable narrator" vibe without overly affecting the story. I'm confident his self insert character is Minaga, and I'm here for it.

Corvid

I just think Minaga legit likes Jake that much. He finds Jake interesting enough on a personal level to look out for him where he can, in my opinion.

Nick O'Gara

Was mentioned in nevermore, place that is even dangerous to God's in the depths. Got sylfie's nest from there or something else.

Paulo Furlaneto

Holy fuck, what a chapter, thanks zog

Phil Ritter

I’m pretty sure the best karmic mage in existence would be able to differentiate a karmic link going from boots or the person wearing them. Also I’m pretty sure karmic connections don’t work like that and give a preview with all people you will ever have connections with. If that were the case eversmile could just read the future with how much info he would be able to gleam from those. It also wouldn’t make sense for all the gods to try and establish karmic connections to prospective individuals since everyone important would already have one to them

DirePants

I wrote about a world like this once. It was inspired by the stage from Golden Sun where you had to fight on the big tree lol But I was thinking about Jake’s Karmic link that ties him to all the primordials. In modern mainstream and western interpretations Karma only focuses on cause and effect. But in reality it transcends time and space. What if what we saw was the future of his Karma? Like Jake will eventually meet all Primordials, maybe even gain something from each of them?

itsdlow

I’m greedy and want the best of both worlds! But agreed

Ahmed Ibrahim

What happens if Jake uses his Jake Juice *TM on this particular primordial?

John Durrett

She replied as a hunter who eats what’s she kills. She did that on purpose to answer the question without giving the answer Minaga was looking for

John Durrett

Tyftc. I’m like a leaf on the wind. ;)

Seen Death

Everything that has a beginning, has an end Well just have to see how it goes Right now its seemingly good I imagine it wont be so straightfoward though (id expect politics or schedule conflicts at the very least- jake has a ton of progress to make, and honestly jake is a bit too frail as a mortal to be unaffected by a near-godqueen. Aura wise hes stronger, but if artemis even applied a fraction of a percent too much power jake could explode haha)

Nathan Holliday

It is a good point that Jake is actually a higher tear human. I could genuinely see his true race name being something like Primal Human with all his descendants being Primal versions of whatever race he mates with.

Samuel Granderson

I like the concept. Transcendent skill related to his realm as a result of studying the FS book? Seems the book is intrinsically tied to his soul, so I could see him incorporating that power into his realm eventually. And let’s be honest, the influence of the FS is probably Jake’s best chance at producing a transcendent skill (given the FS had so many and Jake doesn’t seem to have a knack for them due to his bloodline). Not saying it’ll happen, but it would be cool

Michael Ferguson

The moon is eclipsed where I am right now and there is no chapter till Monday.

Daniel Hamilton

Fair point but just his bloodline alone can do things Villys never seen or heard of and shouldn’t be possible in the system. So even if it was shadows of the Records of beings and creatures he’s hunted, 🤔 maybe running off his Jake juice and powered also by his bloodline as a trade off, or maybe there is an exchange of something to make it work. I just can’t see him having a normal divine realm that’s just a safe place for himself. He is on a Leaf which is one of millions if not billions to the point of working towards becoming an entire universe all housed in the crown of a tree is crazy. He’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible and allowed by the system.

Phasmatic7

Thankies zogie

Ty Cooper

I kinda have a feeling that Jake wants one of her golden leaves to bring back the Fallen King. Minaga is always a treat and I have a feeling Jake is Minaga's only true friend... well that's not a God at least. I do think Jake's divine realm will be filled with powerful creatures, not too hunt at least. He is friends with beasts and always likes making/befriending them along his way. I do also wonder if he is going to become the first to make it to the center of the emerald forest world wonder. By doing this he either gets control over it or it becomes part of his divine realm. Kinda like the wyrmgod.

Straat Junon

I'm patiently and eagerly awaiting the next glorious chapter.

Jayce Sul

Genius. (Wait I forgot the name regoria? Regalia?) would be proud

Trumangolorian

Tyftc I do like when these kinds of chapters happen. Give a good scope on the power level of the gods and helps put villy's power also on an understandable level. We barely scratched his level with the fight against the yip of yore I feel and I'm happy he is so much stronger. Jake has a long way to go before reaching those heights.

Chloe

Tyftc

Ivo Havener

Z, are you training up a protege to take over in 20-40 years when you retire? 🙂

Greg Alverson

I wonder where jake wjll eventually go hunting it seemed like he was interested in that planet but it being inside the divine realm should be a concern since if would reveal all secrets of anything he used for certain.

Greg Alverson

I was a big suprised Minaga did not have more more prying questions or embarrassing ones. It almost felt like he was protecting Jake while poorly hiding them as evermore questions. I expected him to ask stuff to try to embaress both of them, like if jake was as good with his sword as his katars and bow. Or about the sturdiness of the bed in jakes room. Either that ornsome how weave in something about how cheaty jakes bloodline is

Peter Smith

Honestly, i think yggdrasil is one of the few people villy would trust with total knowledge of jake's jakeness
