Holstred held a hand on his sword as he flew through the dense forest alongside the rest of his fellow officers. The former Knight Commander and slave made a hand motion, telling the scout beside him to move forward and see if he could spot any of their targets.

Right as the scout moved forward, Holstred felt a great release of energy in the distance, making his eyes open wide. “Defenses!”

A beam of pure flames shot towards the scout in the front, the man unable to react in time. Luckily for him, Holstred was as he used a skill to instantly teleport in front of the man and summoned a shield of energy.

The fire beam exploded upon impact, setting the surrounding forest aflame. Lowering his shield, Holstred looked ahead. “We’re close... I believe that was a trap of some kind.”

“A magic circle was placed on a tree roughly nine kilometers in that direction,” a ranger in his group said, having located the source of the attack successfully.

“That means we’re close,” Holstred nodded as he took out a token. “I’ll inform him. Continue onwards and locate the enemy camp before it’s too late.”

“Yes, sir,” the group of officers said in unison as they all began moving forward once more, adopting a defensive formation in case they found themselves attacked again.

Holstred was currently leading a group to apprehend – or more realistically, slay – a group of criminals who had lately caused trouble in a mid-sized city on Earth. While the details weren’t perfectly clear yet, it appeared they were all servants of some god who’d tried to gain influence and create a foothold on the planet. They had done a pretty decent job, too, having taken over an entire city with over two million citizens.

Miranda had responded by sending a team of her own to investigate and have a discussion with the City Lord. It was from there that things hadn’t gone well. Again, the details were vague, but the end result was that all seven people in the negotiation team were publicly executed by the City Lord, all of them accused of being heretics.

The City Lord had likely wanted to accomplish something with these executions, but it evidently hadn’t gone as planned. Despite the City Lord and the followers of the yet unknown god being in control of most parts of the city, there were still officials related to the World Council present.

What could only be described as an internal civil war began within the city, leading to more executions and murders before spiralling into public conflict in the streets. At that point, the situation had become untenable, and Miranda had stepped in with force, sending Holstred and his team of officers.

However, when they arrived in the city, the City Lord and higher-ups of the unapproved religion had taken off. They’d set up a secret teleportation circle that, from an initial analysis, was supposed to take them off the planet, but Miranda had stopped them using her remote control over the Pylon of Civilization. Each Pylon had the ability to disturb teleportation, and coupled with the planet-spanning barrier that also worked to do the same thing, it had put a stop to their plans.

Using the space mage as part of Holstred’s team, they tracked the City Leader and his coconspirators and followed their teleportation as best they could. That had now led them to this situation where they were actively tracking the enemy, and from the looks of it, the other side had indeed been well prepared.

They encountered several more traps that slowed them down, making it clear the other party always had this as a backup plan, as there was no way all of these traps had just been placed.

Moreover, they were in one of the areas still considered unexplored territory on Earth. It was one of the areas considered quite dangerous due to how prolific C-grades were, and only those considered elite dared enter.

Holstred had been slightly hesitant going, but having already used his communication totem, he felt a lot better about the situation should things go wrong.

Continuing the pursuit, one of the scouts soon notified him that auras had been detected not too far away.

“Prepare yourselves,” Holstred said in a calm voice. “Assume they’ll resist.”

After saying this, he also detected the auras. Their entire group slowed down slightly as they broke through the treeline and saw a large circular grass and tree-covered mound appear before them.

Some form of residence? Holstred instantly questioned as he saw the large, poorly put-together wooden door leading into the mound. It was just over five meters tall, and evidently not made for or by humans or other human-sized species.

“Sir, there are movements of space mana from within the mound,” the space mage in their party informed him.

Holstred acknowledged the message, but before he could give the command to move forward, the targets they had pursued showed themselves.

From atop the mound, having been hidden within the trees, two dozen people stepped out. One of them was the City Lord in question, while the others were officials and elites who’d fled alongside him. He quickly identified the people in front of him doing the City Lord last.

[Human – lvl 281 – Minor Blessing of ???]

Holstred’s Identify skill had been upgraded to see Blessings, but the god in question had hidden who they were, something he knew they could easily do. It was annoying for sure, but at least his initial assessment was that none of the people there were a threat, and if push came to shove, Holstred could handle them all on his own.

Alas, before the violence came the negotiations.

“You’re like a dog, wagging its tail to its master,” the City Lord spoke as he stepped forward, and Holstred instantly felt the effect of several mental skills upon him. “I heard you were a slave when you first got to this planet. To me, it looks like you’re still one.”

Holstred ignored the man entirely as he cleared his throat. “Under the penal code of-“

“This planet is a gift to the multiverse. You’re following a master who will monopolize it. Sure, they’re communicating the illusion of openness, but it’s all a lie. Just see how they limited access the moment our universe opened up. All of my fellow faithful, denied entry,” the City Lord continued speaking as he sneered. “Pure heresy, to disallow the passage of the faithful.”

“You’re under arrest,” Holstred stopped trying to cite laws and got straight to the point. “Either surrender or resist and suffer the consequences.”

The City Lord seemed undeterred. “I see you’re not blessed. Holstred... I have an offer to you instead. Serve a better master. Someone worthy of that title. We will retreat from this planet for now, but you are free to join us. Join us and go somewhere better. Or stay forever a slave to a witch.”

Holstred’s eyes opened wide. “Are... are you serious?”

The City Lord smiled. “My Patron is righteous and forgiving. Someone actually worthy of your loyalty.”

“Sir?” the space mage beside Holstred asked, but he ignored her.

“I... this is not a decision I can make lightly,” Holstred frowned. “I have family... a wife... child...”

“You can return for them, or we’ll send people to help them evacuate,” the City Lord said in a soothing voice. “Unless your wife is powerful on her own, it’s also best she leaves. This planet will only become more and more dangerous to those without power as time passes. Definitely not the kind of place you’d want a kid growing up.”

Holstred seemed to resolve himself and adopted a serious face. “I will admit I’ve also feared for the future of my family and have considered leaving. Grant me three guarantees, and you shall have my loyalty.”

As he said this, Holstred moved away from his fellow officers and stood between the two groups, his hand still on his sword. His companions all looked at him with faces full of shock as the former Knight Commander spoke.

“First of all, no witnesses. The assumption must be that I died here today. That’s the only way my family can be kept safe. Secondly, I want a proper position and all the benefits to boot. I’m confident in reaching B-grade and will perhaps even go beyond, and I think it’s a valid expectation to get resources that will allow me to grow.”

“Certainly,” the City Lord agreed happily.

“Finally, I want a Blessing from your Patron. From my new god,” Holstred said. “Promise me the first two and grant me the final one now, and I shall cut them all down.”

Holstred raised his sword and pointed it towards his former companions, who all prepared themselves for what was to come.

The City Lord was all smiles as he spoke.”I believe this is... what... no... you!”

Halfway through, he seemed to get a message of some kind from somewhere, making the City Lord instantly turn furious. “Blasphemer! Deceiver!”

“Damn, thought I had you,” Holstred smiled. “Guess I won’t discover the identity of this mysterious Patron of yours today. Alas... negotiations over. Officers, permission to kill.”

He had really hoped his little ruse would have worked. All he was fishing for was to get the Blessing offered, as it was impossible for a god to hide their name there. He would have rejected it, but it would have confirmed who they were dealing with.

“You had me in the first half,” the space mage sent him as magic began revolving around her, being among the first to get her bearings.

The other officers also let out sighs of relief as they all moved to attack. Holstred wanted them to finish up here and get into the mound as soon as-

“I told you talking was a waste of time.”

A beam of fire erupted from within the large mound, blowing a hole through it and straight toward the space mage, who was preparing to attack. Holstred’s eyes opened wide as he teleported once more and appeared in front of the beam at the very last moment, his shield summoned once more.

The impact blasted him back into the mage as the two of them were sent flying. Holstred’s shield was slowly burned through, but luckily, the beam stopped right before his shield was burned away.

“Oh? Not too bad. I understand why you thought he was worth recruiting,” the same voice as before echoed as a creature walked out of the large mound.

Holstred stabilized as he checked on the mage he’d been slammed into, making sure she was also alright. She had some bruises, but otherwise, none of them had taken any major damage. However, that didn’t mean things were good.

He looked at the creature that had just appeared, and from its aura, he knew they were in trouble. It was a bipedal boar-like creature with two large tusks on each side of its mouth and red hair that looked as if it was on fire all over its body. What’s more, rather than eyes, it had two balls of fire, and in its hand, the creature carried a staff that looked like it was made out of a long spine of some monster.

[Great Bristleboar Pyrolord – lvl 349 – Lesser Blessing of ???]

It was a peak C-grade. Holstred himself had reached level 310 after much struggle, and while he could fight the monster, he wasn’t confident in his chances of victory at all. Rather than fighting, he planned on ordering a tactical retreat to-

“Now you’re the one talking.”

A second voice came from behind Holstred, and as he whipped around, he saw another huge boar monster walking out of the forest toward them, cutting off their path to retreat. This one wielded a large axe over its shoulder and had metallic hair covering its entire form.

[Great Bristleboar Champion – lvl 349 – Lesser Blessing of ???]

“Defensive formation,” Holstred instantly ordered as all the officers moved to be closer to him. Focusing, Holstred activated several skills with the hopes of allowing himself and his allies to at least buy some time.

“Kill the heretics,” the City Lord spoke in a cold tone.

“Who are you to give me orders?” the Pyrolord sneered, before quickly changing his expression into that of a grin. “But I’ll let this one slide.”

Brace!” Holstred yelled right as the Pyrolord slammed its staff into the ground. A pillar of fire descended from the sky down upon them, and Holstred reacted as fast as possible by summoning a new shield to defend them. The other officers also used their own skills, as several barriers appeared to block the powerful blow.

The pillar struck them as the Pyrolord started laughing and channeling even more power. Magic runes lit up all over his body, and one even formed on the ground beneath his feet as the intensity of the flames grew, and Holstred knew that he couldn’t keep defending the others for much longer.

However, just then... the payoff from the message he sent earlier arrived.

The Pyrolord, who was happily channeling his magic, suddenly whipped his head upwards, but the only thing he could do was scream. A beam of energy that Holstred couldn't even begin to comprehend the complexity of struck the Pyrolord right in the head, unceremoniously shearing it off in an instant.

A powerful peak C-grade had died in an instant, and all Holstred could do was sigh in relief as a figure floated down from above.

“How was he so fucking weak? Couldn’t even handle one Dragon’s Breath. I was hoping for a proper fight based on what the Verdant Witch told me...” the newcomer said.

It was a scalekin covered in dark green scales with two wings behind his back.

[Malefic Dragonkin – lvl 321 – Divine Blessing of the Malefic Viper]

“Lord Draskil,” Holstred said as he lowered his shield. “I thank you for your prompt assistance.”

“Yeah, yeah,” the Malefic Dragonkin waved him off as he looked toward the second peak C-grade monster, who was just staring at his dead ally. “Someone called a champion should put up a better fight, right?”

Draskil didn’t hesitate as he flapped his wings once, teleporting down right in front of the Bristleboar Champion. The boar responded quickly by raising its axe and swinging it down towards the far lower level C-grade.

Raising a claw, Draskil blocked the blow directly as his arm only slightly buckled from the impact. “Weak.”

With his other hand, he swept upwards as a large green claw of malefic energy cut into the boar, but its metallic hide managed to block the attack for the most part. This seemed to please Draskil as he unleashed a barrage of blows, the poor boar barely able to fight back.

Holstred took this opportunity to move and apprehend the City Lord with the other officers. Inside the mound, he found three space mages trying to prepare a new magic circle for them to flee the planet, likely with the goal of ultimately escaping the universe.

The City Lord had given up surprisingly easily after Draskil’s appearance, and while some fought back, it was nothing he and his officers couldn’t easily handle. Holstred took out a pair of handcuffs made by Arnold himself, the metal strong enough for most peak C-grades to struggle with breaking it.

He cuffed the most dangerous ones, and while it wouldn’t pacify them entirely, it would make them a lot weaker if a fight were to break out again. Holstred doubted they would be foolish enough to try with the presence of the Malefic Dragonkin, but he’d already been surprised quite a few times that day.

And it turned out the world had at least one more surprise in store for him.

While still inside the mound, they all heard a massive explosion sound from outside, and while that in itself wasn’t concerning, seeing as two C-grades were fighting, the yell that came after certainly was.

“Fuck!”

Draskil had been the one to yell, making Holstred charge out in concern, and once outside, he was met with a sight that felt straight out of a nightmare.

He saw Draskil looking down at his bleeding arm that had a nasty cut on it, and about a hundred meters away, the Champion was kneeling on the ground, his entire body covered in rotting wounds.

Right behind him, another boar stood. This one was nearly ten meters tall and covered in a combination of red and golden fur. The new boar casually reached out his hand and grasped the head of the already dying Champion.

“Weak indeed.”

A nasty crushing sound echoed through the clearing as the skull of the Champion was crushed into paste. Holstred could barely stay upright on his legs when he identified the new arrival.

[Supreme Bristleboar Warchief – lvl ??? – Greater Blessing of ???]

B-grade. He had heard B-grades had begun being observed around the planet, and that a few had even been hunted down already... but that had been by large elite parties, such as a group led by the Judge from the Court of Shadows.

However, perhaps more concerning than the appearance of a B-grade was why the B-grade was here in the first place. It was evident that some god had deep roots on Earth and had managed to stay mostly undetected until now. Moreover, if there was one B-grade serving this god, there could be more.

Holstred would be lying if he said a deep sense of panic didn’t begin to well up in his chest, but he still had one source of calm. Despite being injured, Draskil didn’t look afraid in the slightest. In fact, he looked nearly as annoyed as anything else.

“Malefic Dragonkin,” the B-grade Warchief said as a large halberd appeared in his hand. “I’ve heard much about you. A rising star in the Order of the Malefic Viper... and someone my Patron would love to see dead.”

Draskil looked at the B-grade as he licked his lips “Fuck... man, I would also love to see you try. I’ve been itching for a good fight.”

The B-grade scuffed and lowered his halberd. “Then come. Show me what one who received the Legacy of a Primordial is capable of.”

“Again, I would bloody love to, but you’re really not in a state to be fighting anyone right now,” Draskil sighed.

“Your posturing and faux confidence would almost be impressive if it weren’t so delusional,” the B-grade Warchief chuckled. “But please. Do humor me. Why am I not in a state to battle?”

“Well,” Draskil shrugged. “You’re already dead.”

“What do you-“ the B-grade said as he tried to take a step forward, but his leg buckled under his own weight. Blood began bleeding from the Warchief’s eyes as wounds spontaneously appeared all over his body, leaking black pus. “Wha... what did you-“

“Me? Nothing,” Draskil said casually, shaking his head. “You were already dead before you even arrived.”

The B-grade shook all over as his gaze lowered to two small puncture wounds on his ankle that he hadn’t noticed before now. He tried to reach down toward the wound but fell forward, his entire body breaking apart upon impacting the ground, spreading flesh and gore everywhere.

“Damn,” Draskil said in an impressed voice as he looked somewhere behind the Warchief. “That’s some serious venom you’re packing.”

Holstred was confused about who the Malefic Dragonkin was speaking to until he saw a faint shimmer in the forest. Seemingly walking out of nowhere, a woman who looked to be in her early twenties with almost sickly white skin appeared. She wore an odd dress that didn’t quite look like fabric, and her two eyes were entirely red and sent a shiver down the Knight Commander’s spine.

It was another B-grade, but one on a whole other level from the Warchief that had just died. He was almost afraid to do so as he used Identify.

[Jadescale Crimsoneye Snake – lvl ??? – Greater Blessing of the Malefic Viper]

When he saw the name, he realized who it was, but before he could say anything, Draskil spoke up again.

“Shit, that was hot. There’s nothing more attractive than a woman who can kill someone without them even noticing,” Draskil grinned as he began walking toward the B-grade snake. “Hey, how about the two of us-“

Holstred didn’t even see what happened next, as Draskil was sent flying into the forest. A trail of blood and thousands of toppled trees in his wake as he slammed into a hill over a dozen kilometers away, exploding the entire thing. Scarlett, the former Alabaster Crimsoneye Snake, lowered her raised hand as she looked at Holstred and smiled.

“Hi there!” she said in a cheery tone. “Miranda asked me to help out. Seems like her suspicions were correct... oh, and she told me to apologize for keeping you in the dark. She said something about it being necessary to bait out the real prey.”

Once more, Holstred didn’t even have time to answer as a bloody Malefic Dragonkin walked out of the forest with a big smile on his face. “You really are one hell of a woman, eh? But you know, you could have just said no. Unless-”

A second whipping sound echoed through the valley as the Malefic Dragonkin was sent flying once more, Holstred and Scarlett continuing to speak as if Draskil wasn’t even there.

“I can only be grateful for Ms. Wells’ foresight,” Holstred said as he looked toward the listless City Lord, who looked as if his entire world had just crumbled. “Hopefully, at least one of these can provide some insight.”

Ohhh, some god thinks he can play in Jake's sandbox while he is away. That seems like a very bad idea, even if the Viper doesn't get involved because he finds it good streaming material, Jake is not someone to fuck with. And given he has some old friends from the Order on world, this seems like a bad idea or the start of some plot. At least Draskil is still the same.

MillionLittleE

Damn who’s the next big baddie of the series?

Mikesch

Tftc, I like Holstred 😀

Loststar7

Many thanks Zogarth for giving us a little Draskil and Scarlett action. Happy Friday the 13th. See ya next week.

Rick Delallata

Wonder what the plan was. Take over enough of the planet to force a negotiation? Jake would have killed all of them the moment he got back

Loststar7

You’re right but should you be using that kind of language? There could be children reading this.

Tftc! "Draskil looked at the B-grade as he licked his legs." Think it should be lips instead of legs here?

Cody K

Please tell me the deity is terawi- somthing...that great shaper guy from who got thrown out of Haven early on

TNT

Plan was probably to suborn enough of the local B grades and power to assassinate at least Miranda and some of the world council, under the assumption that the planet would immediately erupt into a civil war that Jake couldn’t control without killing a significant portion of the population. If I had to guess.

Ben Cox

Seeing draskil have absolutely 0% dangersense as soon as the opposite gender is involved is absolutely comical, tftc

Matt

Definitely the beginnings of a new story arc.

Jana

If I had to guess, someone, somewhere found the reason or a hint why Earth has produced so many Elites and saw a primordial occupying the “resources” already. It would make sense to talk of Earth as a Gift if that’s the case and finding followers would also be easy because telling people they are special because of where their mothers popped them out is Evil Overlord 1O1.

That city lord needs to work on his similes "you're like a rabid dog, wagging it's tail to it's master" you know....like a regular dog would do.... A dog without rabbies.... very specifically not rabid

Cory S.

Scarlett! Having this chapter makes me want a few chapters of Irin and others. I’m still looking forward to Jake being back at the Order and having to navigate avoiding sycophants and other brown nosers.

bioticisbasic

Tyftc! I love the little slice of life chapters, so this was a treat :)

Mohammed Sheekh

Think its about time a new antagonist is introduced, but jake is literally the strongest c grade in the universe, who could put up a challenge?

Marvin bennett

Lol she only has eyes for jake smh these people trying to get her lol

Staudi

Tyftc Zog! Have all a nice weekend guys!

Jaydan Man

He is the strongest right now, that doesn't mean someone cant find a path and rise later one. Jake wont be the first B grade, and its possible someone could rise then based on an evolution. Plus the universe is opening up. its possible if he doesnt get a move on, an external party could come in stronger than him.

Dick Dastardly

I like chapters like these.

Phil Ritter

Two typos I found: “Again, I would bloody love to, but you’re „not“ really in a state to be fighting anyone right now,” Draskil sighed. Rapid dog -> rabid dog

Matthew Smith

Man, Jakes got some really cool shit to do soon but I also love seeing how some of the outside friends are going. Good to see both Scarlett and Draskil again. Hopefully there will be a Vesperia update sometime soon ish too.

Xander

TFTC :) Omae wa mou shindeiru. NANI?!?!?! Are we glad or sad that Scarlet never bit Jake now? Enjoy your weekend peeps. See you all bright and early Monday :) Suggested edits: "You’re like a *rapid* dog, wagging its tail to its master" i think the word you meant here is "rabid" but that doesnt make much sense perhaps "faithful" since Holstred isnt foaming at the mouth looking for violence he is calmly following orders. " Not too bad *for*, I understand why you" extra word or missing "a human" or "a C grade" "the payoff from the message he sent earlier paid off." repetition. The payoff arrived or the message he sent earlier paid off would be better. "A beam of energy that Holstred could not even begin to comprehend the complexity of struck the Pyrolord right in the head," Awkward phrasing. perhaps "A complex beam of energy Holstred could not begin to comprehend..." instead? "And it turned out he had one more surprise in ** for him." Again awkward phrasing missing word "store" or perhaps "And it turned out there was one more surprise in store for him" instead. "but you’re ** really in a state to be fighting anyone right now,” shouldnt this be a question? "but are you really in a state...?" or if not a question more of a positive statement "But youre not ..."

Didn't expect a fist of the Northstar reference.

JJB4345_80_815

I also saw: Quote: Draskil looked at the B-grade as he licked his legs. /Quote licked ==> kicked (I could be wrong, since maybe Draskil's race is more flexible than humans, but I am assuming that kicked is the likelier action)

Oh there's no way we are getting a brimstone hedgemon comeback are we?

Tyftc. There’s a new sheriff in town and she literally takes a bite out of crime. Scarlett!! Who needs a big stick when you have a bigger tale. ;) awesome chapter

JJB4345_80_815

Danger is part of the attraction. Draskil said it himself how enticing he found her after she'd poisoned that B-grade unknowingly. Draskil knows she can kill him even quicker, and he's eager to risk it for the reward 😄

I'm thinking it's someone tied to the brimstone conglomerate holding a grudge this should be fun if it is

SuperAzureReader

Tyftc. It seems the god is definitely someone who has a grudge against Villy. Not a remnant from the war as there are none😂. But probably someone from that faction that thinks primordials and old factions are monopolizing things. Now the real question is whether the god is also someone who has had a previous encounter with Jake or someone completely new.

Scarlett is a badass. That poison of hers is no joke. Im glad draskil isnt too bored on earth his personality is somewhat abrasive to those he deems weaker. Also him getting sent flying twice was hilarious. Doesnt he have a bevy of women?

WhiteLeeopard

Great chapter, need these slices of life of the multiverse now and then to know how things are moving elsewhere.

Sargon Yami

Just so the next cliffhanger next week can be the ritual ☹️. But still fun chapter but who is dumb enough to try to take his planet? Even with the records of the planet.

Ty Cooper

Ok now that could be a fun couple or team, whichever. Tftc! I am cracking up. A PoV chapter for Friday, giving us a glimpse of Scarlett and Draskil. Nice way to make everyone fiend out from this cliff.

Nate Green

I'm hoping Jake's next antagonist is a good one. I wonder if it will be another solitary genius like the orange guy, or if it will be an entire faction

Borbino the great

I love seeing Scarlett I think she might be one of my favorite characters gotta see more chapters of her and Jake after he hits b grade

brjenness

I'm 50/50 on villy's response. obliterate the gods for the insult or let it play out to give the earthlings a chance to show off and the young members of the order a chance to rally behind jake.

Borbino the great

Probably going to be a whole faction he’s gonna have to purge whoever this is from the galaxy

Tilen Praprotnik

Scarlet is so cool. I wish we could see her more

Chase

Jake really just needs to accept it and start his harem lol

brjenness

I can see villy letting this play out. make sure Jake understands he has to either totally dominate or he will lose people unless his people are strong enough. Jake could be more proactive getting people pushing themselves and taking advantage of opportunities to train with factions friendly to earth.

Cyranosaurus

10/10 fun earth update!!! You have so many good characters going that we could truly have a week of sub stories and not run out of material! I really appreciate all the work you put into writing!!

A day in the life of someone from Earth, a mysterious divine enemy with a vendetta against the Jake / the Malefic Viper, Draskil on Earth AND an appearance by Scarlett? Goddamn you spoil us with the chapter. I love this so much, please keep this sub story going for a week or two if possible! (Would also be good to see the conclusion of the Prima arc in the coming months if possible, the Prima arc has been going on in the background since the monkey Primas in Book 4. Or will this Prima World Wonder be an upon reaching divinity thing?) Thank you!

I would love to hear what Villy is up too as well, seeing as it has been a while… what is his slice of life….

I'm calling some god that survived from the faction of the Brimstone Hegemon. A lot of recent bad blood there and the animosity seems geared towards Villy rather than Jake. The fire affinity would also make sense.

Thanks for the chapter!

🤣 that last bit was so funny. Loved the chapter, hope we'll get more slices of life next week. Strange to not be hanging off a cliff this weekend but I'm sure we'll manage 🥰

Oh scarlett is extra spicy now. And draskill is still an incorrigible playboy. Boy is consistent I give him that. Looks like Earth got natural B grades now (given some assistance from Gods and blessings) so Miranda is appropriately taking steps to cull the problematic ones.

Takoda Heitz

Zog is Draskil confirmed.

SmokeJam

Slicing life would be my guess. Last thing we know he went to that awful mushroom world wonder

Numbzy

“Again, I would bloody love to, but you’re really in a state to be fighting anyone right now,” Draskil sighed. -> “Again, I would bloody love to, but you’re not really in a state to be fighting anyone right now,” Draskil sighed. Missing the negative on the second half of the sentence.

SmokeJam

Prima won't end for a while. The next event will be in b-grade, not a chance that gets rushed for no reason.

SmokeJam

Wait... you want Jake to do... politics? Do you want to see Earth destroyed? O_O

Cees Tollenaar

This one will be dead before he will ascendant. Made into an example of what happens when a god tries to take something from Villy's Chosen😂

SmokeJam

Weird comment section today... Jake should do politics, Jake should get a harem... don't you guys know his character by now?

Eric Shivak

TFTC Scarlett for the win! I do love me a woman with some bite!

Tom

I think they hope they can stay anonymous, but underestimated earths ability to take them alive. The usual dumb god decisions when using disposable pawns

frotes

Wooo fun chapter and updates for some characters. Curious to see if this is just a drop in or a new arc

SmokeJam

Could be, but the Brimstone thing got closed I think with Villys introduction and Meiras story line. My guess is the Lodemother trying to get revenge through proxies, maybe she recruited a low level god of the former brimstone pantheon.

brjenness

I don't think Jake likes to see millions of earthlings die everytime some god queen with a grudge or mad karmic scientist whispers in a piss ant God's ear that they should get a piece of earth.

Childish Jordino

Now her name needs to be changed, it's no longer accurate. Scarlett Jadeson!

kingofshibainu

Miranda is scary. Scarlett is scary. I think Draskil has a thing for scary women.

Win Rar

Appreciate the update of things going on earth. Always like seeing what Miranda has to deal with and how Jake's allies deal with stuff

Ty Cooper

I mean Jake was about to do some upgrades. Left that hanging Thursday. Lol it's a three day.... possibly more cliffhanger. Depends on how many slices of Life we get to let Jake have the time skip.

Dan

AYOOOOOOO been waiting for the best snake girl to reappear. Also good to see she's helping keep Draskil's horniness in check lmfao

Yeslek Nnamhctits

Draskil has it down bad!! Totally bottom behavior. I love it

Drexnaw

New god and Chosen for Villy and Jake to eat !!!!!

Avery Howell

Funniest typo award goes to Draskil licking his legs like a dang cat between fights. 🤣

Xarow

I think I read that over about eight times trying to wrap my head around what freaky stuff was happening! Was this some new leg attack where he licks poison 🧐

Niklas Österljung

Draskil: Currently a malefic dragonkin, formerly a molekin, yet forever a dog. His path is chasing tails of the horizons edge.

MrEM4N

Now do another Sylphie POV :3

Ronan B

Could this god be a usurper of the legacy of the Brimstone Hegemon? Or someone from that pantheon?

DrDankness

Hmmm. Lots of Pigs. Wonder if its an angry pig-god from the Pantheon of life.

ABTelford

I LOVE this chapter! I feel like the main plot is at an “in between” phase, so getting some fun updates with beloved side characters is very welcome. I can’t wait for the Demon Realm wedding coming up. And this was such a fun chapter - the way Draskil gets casually rejected and stomped by Scarlett’s is awesome! 😆

Richard Loveless

I wonder how long it will be before Jake asks her to bite him again.

DirePants

I really want a side novel- a world beyond Jake- or even just another character from earth. One maybe born during the system? There’s just so much to explore. Plus I miss the feeling of following a character who’s currently in that early phase of growth. Learning and leveling. It’d be great to see how earth culture has both changed and remained the same too. I don’t think it would be difficult since Jake’s moving closer to the point where his tasks will take years and not days. We could have a character whose adventures start during Jake’s entrance to never more. Why I could write it 🤔😂😂 jk jk not really. Zog pay me to write for you 😌

Victory Holcomb

I think we just got a taste of which God Jake will kill first. Also. Can we nickname Scarlett to "McGruff" since she 'takes a bite out of crime'?

RnR_ RnR

Bro. Jake's niece! She would have a great storyline that would allow a blend of characters from this series into that one.

Nano

I love draskill on earth he really ups earths power level when their normal elites are away or busy

BuhDussy

Random thought that just popped up. What if sanguine isn’t actually dead and makes a reappearance? Would be pretty cool not gonna lie.

joel southard

Thank you for the chapter

Vega

I wonder if she’s going to evolve into a dragon soon, like the Viper’s evolution path

Biggy smalls

Nah. Gods think in long term plans. This was them sussing out the weak points of earth, figuring out who makes up the leadership structure, the strength of the muscle at hand with most of Earth’s elites out of town, testing Miranda’s capabilities, etc. to a god losing these weak leveled cannon fodder means nothing.

Leviathan

Wild thought, since Jake has his unimpeded arrows skill that allows them to not be affected as much by affinities like air, time, and space. As well as his wings escape ability to corrode space to allow him to travel massive distances in a matter of seconds. Wouldn't it be possible for him to take aspects of these skills to improve his one step thousand miles skill? I know his movement skill is one of his best abilities to add distance in his fights as well as travel, but it could definitely use an improvement that allows him to travel farther. Heck scale it with his perception and make it "One Step Horizon" or something like that. That way it scales off of the best stat, has more synergy with his class, and can allow him to be an even greater threat as a ranged combatant. Food for thought

Rewdan

Zogarth you are a genius. What a fantastic chapter. I hope you have a great weekend

Corvid

Scalie and Draskil is a fun pairing. Very anime, good stuff

Xien

Bad gyal ah bad gyal!!! Lovely reintroduction to the ever improving Scarlett!!!

Carl Never

Favorite chapter in a while. Draskil cracks me up. Keep up the good work

Carl Never

Oh yeah im thinking the assination was from an upset fan of Artemis. Probably from the pantheon of life

Carl Never

Itll be an arc im sure jakes first fight with a god. In greek mythology who is artemis with? Apollo would be a fun fight

Devillelouch

I wonder if we will get Rick a PoL blessing seeing as he is a gardener. Or if he or the children will get some Jake Juice one the Banana Musa hits divine tier.

Devillelouch

He may be the origin of the vampiric race. That would probably mean Sword Saint lets Jake sacrifice Iskar to resurrect Sanguine. Which Iskar most likely would be okay with. The biggest problem with the theory is Bightfather and Holy Mother being pressured enough fo allow Sanguine's reemergence.

Devillelouch

My guess is Sylphie POV will be her upgrade to B grade and/or her getting something and getting Stormild to visit the PoL from Artemis and Jake testing things and producing a kid. If Stormild and Aeon visit then you get your big 12 primordial reunion before the daughter and next big threat arc.

Peter Smith

If he ever truly ascends to godhood i swear he'll be a god of debauchery and families...

Ricky Keenum

I would like to put forth a motion to nickname Zogarth. Naturally it has to follow the standard naming scheme as we’ve seen in the books. What do we think of Zogi? Or Zogy? Zogie… spelling optional. Thanks Zogi!

Samuel Nelson

"Zogie's new Chappie" is an alarm I've been using for a couple months. Glad others think the same!

SqrlyGrly

One step mile is one of those skills like potion creation that has a very direct growth path that just gets better as you use it. Jake has commented in the past that adding new concepts to it would make it far harder to evolve it to higher rarities. Plus, it's simplicity suits him very well.

Dan

I would love to see Nature's Attendant give him a blessing, I feel like it'd be a perfect fit

Koby

This chapter heavily hints at Earth itself being an unrealized world wonder. That or the sheer records of the inhabitants compounding on each other account for it all. This is definitely is part but I don’t think that’s all Zogarth has planned

Weebeedee

Alot of talents hints to something for sure. But the Primal Hunter's cradle is probably giving an unfair amount of records passively.

ItWasIDIO!!

Scarlett keeping the lead

Gardor

They took over a city and then fought a Civil War in that city, and no one ever found out the name of the god they worked for?

Phil Ritter

I mean the god wouldn’t be dumb enough to let them spread his name if he wanted to remain hidden. Even now chances are high that be bound them with some karma so the moment they try to utter his name they will just die. I wonder if a higher ranked god in the order could nullify something like that if they brought them there but chances are they will die all the same if they leave the planet

Carl Never

Do we think this is the same god that put a hit on jake?

Troy Telford

I really liked the active voice of this chapter vs the passive narration of a lot of the others.

Troy Telford

Very good question. I suspect a pathetic (in Villy's eyes) conspiracy that will make for interesting times for Jake. 🤡

BrawlingBard

I like these glimpses into other parts of the story, they make the world feel more alive than just seeing Jake's perspective. Keep up the good work!

Dave

Good stuff

Jayson Saxby

Tftc! Draskil and Scarlet aye that’s a hilarious new combo haha

John Rooney

You are already dead... NANI!!!!

Stefan_Ov3rdose

Scarlet! Swamp Noodle! Missed her

Chloe

Tyftc

Tony Belfer

Scarlet showing off. Gotta love it.

Nick Borgne

Loved the ending of the chapter an awesome change good to see the growth Scarlett has made alway like the straight forwardness of Draskil

Emiya

So boars have hands?
