The colossal monstrosity of assorted bone and flesh swung its giant hand down towards its foe, leaving a trail of miasma in its wake with every blow. From every part of its body, it exuded an aura of death that sought to turn everything surrounding it into undead.

It was a creature that usually sought the strongest source of life it could detect with the sole purpose of ending that life, but today its ceaseless march had been stopped by a far smaller opponent.

What looked like only a small insect before the nearly five-hundred-meter-tall undead monstrosity circled the massive abomination, a powerful gust of wind following in this small beast’s wake.

The undead creature was a B-grade creature classified as a living calamity, albeit one of the weakest ones there was. Meanwhile, the beast was one of the strongest in C-grade. A master of the wind, a harbinger of hurricanes, and the progenitor of her own race.

Or, in her own words... the bestest bird.

Sylphie, having heard that seemingly everyone else had gone around and killed B-grades, decided she also wanted to try it. She had spent a long time with those closest to her kin and had a lot of fun with all the wind elementals and others who specialized in their shared affinity.

Sadly for her, she was just too smart for her to benefit much from staying there longer. She had learned most there was to learn in a short amount of time, and while she could have stuck around and slowly continued to improve, her Uncle Jake had always talked about momentum and stuff, so she decided it was time to go fight a bit.

Luckily for her, this undead B-grade had recently appeared on a planet where one side had been struck by a meteor shower, wiping out most life there. When a lot of life was extinguished at once, it was only natural that the affinity of death would take its place, which could lead to the birth of creatures like the abomination that now sought to wipe out the other side of the planet where life still existed.

Of course, that wouldn’t happen now that Sylphie was on the case.

She had decided to start the fight by finding out what the B-grade was capable of. It was huge, sure, and it gave off a smelly smell that Sylphie didn’t like, but it was also slow. The miasma was easily dealt with as Sylphie had just surrounded herself in an upgraded version of her Green Shield, protecting her entirely, but if she wanted to win, she still had to kill the big guy.

Her initial attack had done little outside of making the big guy mad as it started swinging for her, but Sylphie was way too fast as she began to build momentum. Her Authority of Wind was on full display as she mobilized all the wind affinity from far and wide to create a hurricane of titanic proportions with the B-grade at the center.

Even if Sylphie hadn’t done any hunting while learning from the Sylphs, she’d still have continued to gain levels simply from existing in such a beneficial environment. She had gained several skill upgrades there and put them all on display as she went fully offensive.

Cutting winds tore up the B-grade from all directions, shearing off its flesh little by little as it tried to respond as best it could. Limbs grew out from all the fleshy bits of its body and tried to reach for her whenever she got close, and barrages of bone and miasmic blasts constantly tried to stop Sylphie’s persistent assault, but all to no avail.

One thing the B-grade did have going for it was its ridiculous resiliency. All the fleshy bits Sylphie had cut off, even those that had been sliced and diced into fine little cubes, began to wriggle and merge with one another as they hit the ground, forming small fleshy monsters that tried to return to the large abomination to become one again.

Sylphie tried blowing these small, annoying undead up, but even when she did, they just merged with one another again after she stopped attacking. She also noticed that the abomination began to become smaller as her attacks continued, and with this smaller size, its speed began to significantly increase.

Its entire body also warped and changed to take a shape more suitable for fighting her, as several hundred-meter-long whips of what looked like fused-together spines emerged from its body and were swung around to try to catch the bird.

Usually, Sylphie didn’t care about physical attacks much as she could just be all windy and ignore them, but in this case, she wanted to stay in bird form to avoid exposing herself to the domain of miasma.

Overall, it was very annoying, and as the fight continued, Sylphie felt like she was only making things harder for herself. After she was done testing most of her skills, she decided it was time to really kick things up a notch, as she still had two more skills she wanted to test out.

One of them was the skill she’d just gained from her recent skill selection. As could only be expected, it was a mythical rarity skill, and Sylphie had been looking forward to finally trying it out.

With a few flaps of her wings, she gathered more wind than ever before. The clouds far up in the sky began to swirl as Sylphie called upon all the wind on the entire planet, as her body began to turn ethereal.

Soon, she faded away, becoming one with the wind all around her, making it take on a green sheen. What looked like a massive tornado surrounded the B-grade abomination as the wind only kept getting faster, spinning more rapidly as it began cutting into the monster’s body more than ever before.

It was like the undead had been thrown into a meat grinder, and one that was only growing stronger and stronger. The skill Sylphie used had a long name, but overly long names for skills were a bit silly in her opinion, so she just called it one word instead:

Tempest.

The wind continued to intensify in speed, power, and scope as Sylphie pushed herself further. The Tempest consumed the entire area, shearing apart a large segment of the planet as it kept absorbing more and more wind energy from all around to grow. Soon, it was several hundred kilometers in radius with the B-grade undead abomination smack in the middle, and contrary to a hurricane, in this instance, one didn’t want to find themselves at the eye of the storm.

All the small bits of flesh cut off were shredded into meat particles before they could even hit the ground, and the abomination had no choice but to hunker down as it curled over and tried to defend itself. It didn’t even try to fight back but just focused on weathering the storm.

Usually, this would be the best strategy, as Sylphie was burning through her resources and mental energy as she had to keep the storm going. She saved a lot of mana from the Tempest passively absorbing energy from the environment, but she was still the one who had to control it all.

For several minutes, she kept the Tempest going as the abomination shrank with every passing second, having whatever made it cling to its undeath existence slowly sheared away. However, when it reached a height of only fifty meters, Sylphie struck a problem.

While she had cut off all this flesh, the abomination had managed to keep most of the bones by absorbing them deeper into its body. With all these bones, it had formed a set of armor that covered it from disgusting bottom to disgusting top.

Sylphie was also slowly cutting through this with her Tempest skill, but she knew that it would take too long. Luckily for her, she wasn’t just a super smart genius bird... she was an ultra super smart genius bird who had one more new trick up her feathers.

One even more powerful than the Tempest skill, which was admittedly best against large groups of enemies.

This new one had been born of her inspiration from the massive tornado she’d spent over a full year just flying within. The one that originated from the World Wonder known as the Vortex Pinnacle. Its scope alone and how it managed to gather the wind from all around was awesome in Sylphie’s opinion, and she’d tried to mimic it as best she could, which had resulted in her upgrading one of her skills to mythical rarity.

What’s more, it worked really well with her Tempest skill.

The gigantic Tempest soon stopped increasing in intensity as Sylphie slowed down. As she did so, her physical beast form slowly began to manifest within the whirlwind. Despite no longer actively controlling the Tempest, it kept going with the remaining energy poured in by Sylphie while continuing to draw in wind energy from all around to keep up its momentum.

Seeking skywards, Sylphie shot straight up until she was free of the Tempest. Once there, she stopped and turned down toward the B-grade as she spread out her wings and suspended herself in the air.

Mana erupted from her body as an illusory image of herself appeared all around her, making her look hundreds of times larger. Sylphie’s eyes began to glow bright green as she commanded the wind to gather, as a second maelstrom of energy formed above the Tempest that was still raging below.

This gathered wind began collecting above Sylphie as it spun at incredible speeds, dragging in more and more mana. As it intensified further, its draw became so strong that not only wind mana was dragged into it. All other forms of energy were also forcefully absorbed and torn apart by the raging winds as the maelstrom began to take form.

It began to elongate, its tip pointed down toward the B-grade, like that of a tornado striking the ground. She kept condensing the wind repeatedly as it only kept accelerating, reaching impossible speeds as a vacuum of mana formed in the sky all around her.

The Tempest below was also affected, as it began to lose speed until it suddenly entirely unraveled. All the wind energy from the mythical skill was dragged up into the vortex in mere seconds, yet Sylphie kept it at the exact same size, as it constantly continued accelerating. It reached a level where space itself began to shake as the mana holding reality together was slowly drawn in.

Once all the wind gathered by her Tempest had been absorbed, Sylphie had reached her limits. Admittedly, she had also taken a little inspiration from her Uncle’s super powerful arrows, not that she would ever admit that.

As a final step, Sylphie unleashed all her energy and compressed the entire spinning barrel of wind one final time before directing it at the B-grade abomination below that had now stood up and noticed something was happening far up in the sky.

Far too late for it to react.

Sylphie released the skill, resulting in a deafening boom that could be heard throughout the entire planet.

Sylphian Vortex Lance

A single condensed blast of wind, entirely cylindrical and no thicker than a human arm, reached the ground at the very same moment as a second shockwave swept through the planet.

The lance of hyper-condensed wind spinning at impossible speeds pierced through the abomination effortlessly as it continued down into the ground, where it proceeded to dig a hole too deep for Sylphie to see the bottom.

Sylphie’s illusory form faded as the Vortex Lance dispersed without further fanfare. There was no grand explosion as all the energy had focused into that single line, resulting in nothing more than massive quantities of wind mana rapidly dispersing in the air.

Below, the B-grade stood with just this thin hole through its body. To the still fifty-meter-tall abomination, it didn’t look lethal in the slightest... yet the miasma surrounding it had lost all control of its energies as the death affinity energy was dispersed and thinned out by the wind mana.

A second later, the abomination slowly fell backwards onto the ground, Sylphie having gotten her notification the moment her Vortex Lance had hit.

You have slain [Corpse Abomination Colossus – lvl 355] – Bonus experience earned for killing an enemy above your level

Sylphie flapped her wings as she looked at the dead... deader B-grade below as she let out a satisfied screech... which turned out to be a bad idea. She had really pushed herself harder than she’d initially planned on, resulting in her knocking herself out through sheer over-exhaustion as she began falling toward disgusting flesh-covered ground, but was luckily caught as she landed on a hand of wind summoned by a variant Sylph that had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

This Sylph observed the sleeping hawk for several seconds as a voice echoed toward the skies and beyond. “I approve and concur. She’s indeed qualified to take my place once vacant.”

A moment later, a gust of wind made Sylphie disappear alongside the demigod.

--

“Every time I dare venture in here, the situation grows more and more ridiculous,” the Unique Lifeform said as he floated at the door and saw what was happening inside the living room.

Artemis was sitting nervously off to the side of the couch, as Nature’s Attendant looked on like a disapproving father, as Jake, Minaga, and the Seeker were huddled around the coffee table, as the two gods stared intently at Jake, who was in turn looking at what looked like an upside-down cup.

“It’s a three again,” Jake said with confidence, completely ignoring the King. Something the other two gods evidently also did.

The Seeker still looked skeptical as he raised the cup, revealing a die with a glowing three pointing up.

“I told you he could do it,” Minaga grinned.

“It could still be a coincidence,” the Seeker insisted. “There is a roughly one in sixty-million chance he simply got lucky.”

Minaga looked at the god for a second. “Do it again.”

The Seeker nodded as he placed the cup over the die and waved his hand above it.

“Two,” Jake said casually.

Lifting the cup again, the Seeker stared at it for a second. “Still a one in three-hundred and sixty-million chance he could have-“

“Just admit you lost already,” Minaga laughed gleefully.

The Seeker ignored Minaga as he looked at Jake. “Even if you could see inside with your Bloodline, the number displayed isn’t generated before the cup is lifted, yet you claim you can intuitively know anyway?”

“I never claimed anything; that’s what Minaga claimed,” Jake shrugged. “I’m just playing along because he bribed me to.”

“Right, I forgot,” the god nodded. “Understandable, and I shall not dig further.”

Jake just smiled and shook his head, having decided not to question anything. If he did, he would spend all day asking questions such as “why does the Seeker have a true random die,” which would inevitably lead him to ask “why the hell would anyone ask for a true random die from winning a system event?”

The answer to which still wouldn’t make a lot of sense, hence why Jake didn’t ask... except he had asked that one, which had been a teaching moment for him not to ask further.

“Hey, wanna bet when the Shimmershroud Planeswarper escapes?” Minaga asked after a bit.

“That sounds like a wonderful idea,” the Seeker instantly agreed.

“I’m in too.” Jake raised a hand. “If I’m allowed to.”

“The more the merrier,” Minaga grinned.

“In that case, I’ll also join in on the insanity,” the King said in a surprising turn of events.

The Seeker seemed to notice the King for the first time as he raised an eyebrow and looked at the Unique Lifeform up and down before speaking. “If I win, could I have one of your arms?”

“You wish to have a limb of mine?” the King asked with confusion.

“Yes,” the Seeker said, being dead-serious.

“Sure, I’ll gamble one of his arms,” Jake agreed with a grin.

“Me too,” Minaga raised a hand.

The King floated there for a few seconds before just shaking his head. “Fine.”

“So, all in agreement that the winner gets one of his arms?” Jake asked with a grin. “Great. Now, Jasper has been in there for a bit under five hours, and the Seeker said the time limit is a week... with that in mind, let me be first and bet that he’ll be out in-“

“Less than five hours!” the Seeker quickly jumped, loudly exclaiming his guess.

Jake barely had time to look at the god before the cube on the table started shaking violently, and a second later, it released a flash of light as a familiar-looking B-grade Planeswarper appeared sitting on the coffee table.

Without a single hint of shame, the Seeker looked toward the King. “I want the left one.”

Thanks for the chapter

RnR_ RnR

Yes! Our favorite murder bird is back!!!!

Grant Anderson

I haven't even read the chapter and the title alone has me excited! TFTC

Myridex

The more we see of the Seeker the more I like him.

wyattmon

I had high expectations for the Seeker and they have been exceeded, its also great to see Syphie get in on the B-grade action!

BubblyGhost

Bird chapter. Also they didn't shake on it, bet null and void

joel southard

Thank you for the chapter

Cyranosaurus

Sylphie better watch out because Jasper is OP🤣. We need another “a friend of a friend is a rival” chapter 🫣

Loststar7

Seeker is all about wagering an arm and a leg 😂. Looks like the king is about to be disarmed. Fortunately he’s good at unarmed combat. Thanks for a fun chapter.

Julio Perez

🤣🤣🤣 shameless

Orod

Bro the Seeker out here cheating 🤣 No wonder he wanted a "True random die". Just to make the bets fair

Ritsu

Let me get this straight, the Seeker won a system event, which are notoriously hard as fuck even for mortals, and decided to use it to get true RNG. The Seeker is a gamer confirmed. Also Sylphie is absolutely going to be the next Chosen of Stormild.

Silver Dawn

These are Jake’s people

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter 😄

Fdrugc

Tftc also who doesn't want a true random die it's super useful

Ben Cox

Jake out here breaking reality by being able to predict true system assured randomness is an ideal Minage,Seeker and jake moment Tyftc

Alex

#collected

Phoenixdrop

Well then that’s something also I’m pretty sure the seeker has a new chosen now because the only reason it took jasper five hours is because they triple checked to make sure they got everything

Fdrugc

They didn't say what would happen if the king one also nobody else bet so it should be invalid

KatHabit

Why the left one? Shouldn't the right one be the right choice? Ha. I'll see myself out.

Dougie Mitchell

Sylphian Vortex Lance is such a fucking cool name

brjenness

An arm grown by yggy...high stakes

Fdrugc

I think you got this one wrong Zog Sylphye is not just a ultra super smart genius bird She is a ultra supreme super smart genius windy bird

Kristoffer

Was ... Was that comment a soul attack? Because it felt like one 😁

Chris

Poor king, no more left arm for the foreseeable future😞

Stevean Bozek

I don't know why he wants the Kings left arm but I'm here for his enthusiasm about it. I also like how the king just joined in on the insanity to not get left out, he's really developing some social skills. Only took dying twice

Allformsoflight

The Seeker seems like a cool dude to have at parties once he gets going.

John Burton

Why is the Seeker giving off Rocket vibes from GotG?

Kyle Stitt

lol got em!!

Lizy Flore

Do we have to understand that Jake’s been guessing the number on the die for five hours under the scrutiny of those two and nature attendant’s disapproval ?

Cory S.

In the words of Jake Thayne, “That was bad and you should feel bad.”

Demonshadow639

😂🤣😂🤣 “I want the left one” is one of the funniest endings to a chapter yet!

Fdrugc

I do like the occasional Sylphye episode

Polaris

That’s my favorite ending to one of your chapters outside of a massive event or fight concluding

Chegs

Sylphie going to be Stormilds Chosen oh snap

Jason

Thanks! That was a good chapter! Also “Free of the Tempest, Sylphie shot straight up until she was free of the Tempest.” could use a quick revision :)

Jason

Assuming that it’s a 6-sided die, he guessed correctly 11 times in a row.

Andyr98

Artemis being embarrassed by her nerd boyfriend while natures attendant being a disappointment father

Iza Wozniak

Deader Bgrade made my day 😁

Ricky Keenum

That cheating son of a! Hilarious 😂

frankie doerr

Think he read hell difficulty tutorial it’s kind of a running joke to lose the left arm

Darshar Griffonmane

So I really hope there were no enlightened or self-aware critters on that planet. Because that would have been rough to live through...but Bestest Murderbird being bestest! Also I love how Seeker wants an arm cause duh, Unique life form. The King wandering into a sitcom that everyone is just now realizing the Viper assembled for his own amusement. And Jasper in his almost overwhelming cuteness bout to steal (literally) the damn show. wonderful chapter, thank you.

Jana

Maybe but Stormild currently has a Chosen. So they’d have to die or Ascend first.

Lynderyn

Hopefully my day does not get worse. This chapter really sets the bar high though. Thank you for the epic chapter

jobe matula

shameless indeed lol.🤣

Namorat

Free of the Tempest, Sylphie shot straight up until she was free of the Tempest. - an error

Siethrobo

I was wondering if "Free of the Tempest" was part of a skill since it was capitalized, the naration that follows would make sense as it's kinda coming from Sylphie's point of view

Siethrobo

Seeing gods bet got me thinking about favors. There have got to be multiversally defined levels of favors right? With the to being something like an antithetical favor (a favor that goes against ones path)

Dave

Someone shameless as Minaga. I can see why they get along well

frankie doerr

I got to admit that is truly a kings arrogance to join a bet against 2 peak existences and a guy who has one of the strongest bloodlines ever seen

Kevin Hargett

Laughing my ass off!!! Ahahaha

Sylphie

REE!!!!!

Michael Fannon

I like Seeker. So now Jasper and Slyphie will meet?

Peter Smith

I bet if jake made a comment about photography being a way his people used to keep records and copies of creations long gone, Seeker would immediately choose to be the systems first divine candid photographer.

Rewdan

So let me get this right, Jake, is hanging out with 4 gods, one of which is his girlfriend, one is the right hand man of a primordial and the last is a god who is considered equal to primordials and Minaga. Jake is keeping some serious company.

Rewdan

I almost feel sorry for Natures Attendant, he doesn’t seem to be enjoying himself.

Rewdan

Hey Zogarth this is some top draw stuff right here. Thanks for the chapter.

Athran

Not only because a unique lifeform, but also one formed with the aid of Yggdrasil.

Reno

Wow. Instead of Seeker he should be called Shameless.

WhiteLeeopard

This is one of those chapters hammering in that peak C onwards are too powerful to stay on normal planets

Athran

I'd say a combination of the fact that he's a unique lifeform which would be something unique for the Seeker to find, and being partially formed from Yggdrasil

NovaZero

The King can Lawyer this. under 5 hours? Well... What if Jake messes with it and makes a mana shell or something

Arieh Sochaczevski

You know… since it takes inspiration from Jake’s skill, if it was called “Sylphian Vortex Arrow” instead, then one day Sylphy and Jake could could work out a way to coordinate an attack that would be seriously overpowered. I’m not saying they would particularly rely on such a thing, but discovering it mid-battle one day and having it in a back-pocket would be a nasty surprise in the right circumstances.

InfernoDroid

I really hope once he reaches B grade we see bloodlines that while different, just simply outclass Jake's by a wide margin. But that's because I like when the OP protagonist realizes that they were the big fish in a small pond, and they aren't the best when they reach levels that matter. Also I think Elekaine's was stronger than Jake's

InfernoDroid

At some point when Jake and friends are firmly in B grade I hope we get 1 or 2 Nevermore chapters were the leaderboard no longer just for the new universe, and Jake doesn't even crack the top 10 just to show how strong B grade that have grown up for in the system actually are. I just like when the OP protagonists realize they aren't as strong as they thought and still have a long way to go

Carl Never

Slyphie is about ready to remove that drifting plane world that hurt jasper. She just has to decide she likes him first. Bet there's at least one dragon on that plannet. Could be a lovely bonding day. Jake gets the big bad, jasper gets all the stuff, slyphie gets to wreck the whole place with a hurricane of earth shattering proportions. Sandy can give them a ride and eat the core.

Sean McClain

King should say, I guess in negative 30 seconds, and yes the left one will do fine.

John Durrett

Or Nanica from HxH. Gotta get those body parts as part of their reward for performing an activity on behalf of someones wishes.

John Durrett

Being a seeker of unique things, I'd say if your being your own authentic self in his company - people would get along swimmingly. :)

Carl Never

With how much Jake can devine while hating divination it would be great if the king started picking on him for being the augur of the order or something

Takoda Heitz

No matter how you slice it, this is already the reality. Not the leaderboard part or the other comment you had about bloodlines but Jake being utterly outclassed. There are and always will be existences that could just snap their fingers and wipe Jake out. We will all have great grandchildren by the time Jake reaches a status akin to primordials and until he does there will always be someone in the multiverse that is stronger than him. Also I can’t remember exactly but I’m pretty sure it was stated that only C-Grades have a leaderboard in nevermore.

Posiden 300

You know they are competitive lol.

John Durrett

tyftc. Sylphie rocking new skills and going out on a wing and a prayer!

Devillelouch

Guess on Tempest's longer name: Tempest of the Acrimonious Sylph. My first guess was Tempest of Stormild but...

Tristan

I feel like this is a learning moment for Artemis

Devillelouch

The King agreed to a bet where only he loses. His only option is to say "I never said when you would get your left arm". But he should be willing to trade.

Hayden Leech

Go Sylphie! But the word insect got me hopeful for a Vesperia combat chapter lol. Show me the Hive!!

Tom C

LOLLLL the seeker is Jake and Minaga’s kind of people. TFTC!

Seiryus

I thought Sylphie's authority skill was named "Sylphian Authority" and not "Authority of Wind". Did it change?

Sarianne

🤣🤣🤣 on the betting bit. Was awesome to see Sylphie kill a B-grade and not a low lvl one either!🥳

Reno

Nobody asked, but they played that dice game 11 times. https://www.wolframalpha.com/input?i=6%5E11

TNT

I think it’s skill name vs what it actually is. I think an elemental authority is a category of concepts/skills, so an authority of the wind is what the skill is. It might have been named Sylphian Authority” in the system window.

Numbzy

What do we think Minaga bribed Jake with? I bet it's something either stupid or insanely OP.

Ty Cooper

So does anyone else think that Sylphie is next in line to be a chosen? I am not meaning from Jake's group( which it could be) but from her Patron.

Ty Cooper

Lol I was thinking Vespy when I read the title today. I pictured a crazy skill for her combat form.

Hornbach

I mean 5 lvls into B grade is kind of low no? Not that it isn't impressive.

Daniel Golding

I want to see Minaga, Jake, Seeker, and Vilas playing cards.

Daniel Golding

That her boyfriend hangs out with fellow lowlife weirdos? Surely she had to suspect as much...

mapts

Replace a demigod huh… Does that mean Sylphie is gonna be a chosen?

Jake Schmitz

I can't stop FRICKEN LAUGHING at how the King gets played😆 😂 🤣

Colton

lol

Lemonsqueezy

Jake would be an unfair opponent. He can determine what everyone has. Mostly determine (via his bloodline) if he is going to win or lose. Of course the other gods can probably cheat as well in some way or another. Would ultimately be a game of who can cheat the best.

Lemonsqueezy

Nice. As a math nerd/enthusiast, I like the fact that you did this more than I can express.

Lemonsqueezy

Nope, just Tempest. So says Sylphie and so it is. Seems to be more of a case of Zog didn't want to come up with something.

Emil

I can't remember it being mention, but I'm sure it was. Sylphie being a race progenitor is sic. I guess that makes her at the same level of vesperia, and I didn't know that.

Lemonsqueezy

That become true in D-Grade. Hell Jake could completely destroy large portions of a planet in high E-grade. He destroyed that one guys planet (I can never remember his name) in Mid C-Grade when he absorbed the core didn't he?

Emil

Wasn't the demigod in charge of the wind area of something? I think Sylphie is just gonna get that responsibilty when she ascends. bestest bird with bestest wind. Makes sense

Kytayn K.

I think we’ll end up finding out that Sylphie will ultimately be more powerful than Vesperia. It’s going to take a while, but that “take my place” line is going to pay off at some point.

ABTelford

Hahaha!! Shameless god

Shafan Knight

That ending was hilarious!

Corvid

Dunno if it was on purpose, but the phrasing "the other two gods" when talking about Jake, Minaga, and the Seeker ignoring the king was really telling of Jake's position.

Kevin Hargett

Just in case anyone was wondering Jake guessed it correctly, eleven times, at the 360 million mark. Lmao It bugged me all day before I did the math.

Brian Schutt

It says “the two gods” because Minaga and Seeker are staring at him and the cup but Artemis was not.

Lonnie

It just tickles me how natures attendant is over everything. Like an exasperated dad watching boys be boys. So funny. Poor Artemis 😄

brjenness

wandering mind arrived at Jasper spending time with myamoto in order to have one sane advisor as to what to consider when deciding whether or not to steal something. mind went down a rabbit hole and ended up at: high level beast being yelled at by a god for letting something get stolen. asks for explanation.. "a giant worm appeared and spit out an old man that cut down the guards with one slice and made it rain. . then they disappeared and the relic was gone." the God's eyes went wide with horror and he asked, " you didn't do anything to hurt them or annoy them did you?"

Xander

TFTC :) I like the Seeker :) I was gonna comment that the eye ofa hurricane was safe but you seemed to address that so I discarded my comment. Suggested edits: "five hundred *meters* tall " usually when referencing in this kind of context the singular "meter" is used. "tall undead monstrosity circled the massive *monster*" too much alliteration and repetition. Suggest "creature" instead. "wide to create a massive hurricane with the B-grade at the center." Over use of massive. Collosal, enormous, gigantic, expansive, immense. Lots of choice. I know, i know, its just me and my desire for word diversity. "went on *the proper* offensive." should be "the offensive" of "she began her offensive proper" possibly if you want to have the word proper in there. "constantly tried to stop Sylphie’s *constant* assault," repetition. "try "relentless" instead "its *massive* durability." as before "immense" "forming small *fleshy* monsters that" repetition "amorphous" maybe? "like merged spines *emerged* " this is all me but those two words so close triggers me. "began to extrude" would be my suggestion. "shearing apart *a large part* of the planet " same here. I suggest "vast tracts" instead "to hunker down as ** curled over, " missing word "it" "abomination *shrunk* with every " should be "shrank" "With all these bones, it had formed a set of armor *made entirely of bones* that covered it" you can just cut this bit, we know its made of bones cuz you just told us. "born *from* her inspiration *of* the massive tornado " switch these. "wind repeatedly as it *only spun* faster and faster, " should just be "span" ditch the only. "as it *only* accelerated" extra word. You keep sticking in extraneous "only"'s " it had lost all *control* as it was" this doesnt really fit here. "cohesion" seems to fit with your meaning.

Phil Ritter

Okay silvie casually upgrading and getting a bunch of skills at mythical is somehow very fitting. It doesn’t even seem to be very OP since she is such a glasscannon. She either wins fast or looses out quite badly once her resources run out. I don’t know why but the thought of those 3 chaosbringers having fun together fills me with an immense amount of joy. They somehow just make a very good team

ABTelford

Some of these suggested edits are personal taste and not grammatically mandated (some are even incorrect). In editing, personal taste should not be a factor unless it’s your own work. So, Zogarth…ignore 90% of that. 😉

ABTelford

Loved seeing Sylphie being the bestest, most awesomest bird-sylph around! I am surprised Villy didn’t step in to stop Jake from revealing some of his secret powers to a random thief god and Minaga. Then the bet at the end made me laugh! 😄. Great chapter!

Poisonous Wolverine

We really need an artemis pov of just watching jake minaga and the seeker and thinking how damn weird they are and what did she get herself into, that or jake trying to outdrink the super good fighting primordial (sorry I forgot his name)

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

JW Saxby

Tyftc! 🍻

TwistedVanity

Is it just me but after 50 years in never more and all her other time training shouldn't slyphie have matured by now and stop thinking childish thoughts. Her parents thought like adults so it's not just because he's a bird.

Yeah and other almost-B grade beasts have human forms by now and stuff. But slyphie is slyphie. She should never change.

DirePants

😂😂😂😂 alright he’s growing on me.

WaxDinosaur

Seeker, Minaga, Villy, and Jake all need to get together for a beer. Add Duskleaf so you have someone to shake their head in disappointment

Chloe

Sylphie got nabbed? She better be ok!!! REEEEE! tyftc

Greg Alverson

I think that was the god they sent with her to the vortex for protection because all the sylphs there were one to two grades higher but that she didnt need at the vortex.

SuperAzureReader

Tyftc and that was dirty 😂. But tbh it's their fault of course he can probably sense how to trial is going

The number being generated with true randomness after Jake speaks a number, and his Bloodline ensuring he always guesses right is a contradiction. It is no longer random the moment he intuits a guess. A true random generation implies it isn't causally linked to the state of the universe at generation. Jake having intuited the result (and working on the premise he will always guess right) means that result must now be generated. It is no longer truly random. So either his Bloodline is warping reality to 'fix' the true randomness (pun intended) or it only ever true random in the frequentist way of viewing it. That doesn't really follow the spirit of a true random and it would also make the multiverse deterministic (the frequentist view being true in-multiverse, that is), which might be what Zogarth is going for considering how some time-shenanigans with the First Sage work (or it might not, not trying to say I know the intent of the author).

I think the way it was meant to be implied was that the number is generated randomly but there is no actual external way to know the number until the cup is lifted. Jake still intuits the already generated number correctly

Now that I think about it. Wasn’t it mentioned when Jake went gambling on earth that there is system regulated gambling? In other words if the seeker went to any gambling den and got a dice from there considering it’s regulated by the system itself the dice should be the same thing he has once it’s tuned to pure random. Unless you actually need a skill to use the gambling dice properly
