Hello there.

Been a while since I did a post giving a general update on the state of things, so I guess I will do that now. That it happens to coincide with the audiobook for book five coming out is a total coincidence. Also, no, I don’t know when book six comes.

Anyway, on to things. First of all, an update on the wrist situation… yeah, I still don’t think writing a lot is considered healthy for the human body, but things are better, and I am managing. Before anyone mentions it (because I know someone will), then no, I won’t do dictation. Fuck dictation.

Secondly, I am soon gonna move. I put down an offer on a house just recently, and even if that does not turn into anything, I will still move within not super long anyway. Gotta put all of that money I earn from all of you wonderful people (read: not suckers) somewhere, right? This does mean that when I get a new home, I will take some time off to do all of the actual moving and stuff. Who knows, I may even get a cat.

Third is… I kind of forgot to take time off, lol. I took two weeks off in May last year, and I had kind of planned on doing the same this year, but then I got stuck in house-buying limbo and wanted to delay a bit, and now here we are. So, yeah… I probably need a break soon. When is soon? Who the fuck knows.

Fourthly, I would like to just ask for some general feedback on the direction of the story and how people feel about things. Oftentimes, web serials that go this long end up losing the initial “promise” of the novel, and people slowly lose interest, so hearing some thoughts would be nice. Not saying I will do anything differently, as I enjoy writing the story and have many cool things I wanna do, but do give me feedback to ignore anyway, alright?

Finally, there are these coins I originally released a long time ago. There are still some left in stock if people are interested, and I reckon quite a few of you never saw the original post where I mentioned them, as that happened… damn, around a year ago. Time sure does fly.

Coin in question:

-----

Check them out HERE.

To finish off, I want to thank you all for continuing to support the novel, and as always, thanks for reading.

Love the story it's probably one of the most enjoyable series I follow. Keep taking it in the direction you're going it's working great.

Ryan Ulrich

My only add would be to add more characters that can challenge the existing status quo. I love the story, but also am curious why the multiverse seems so ‘stable?’. Try reading through a bit of the First Defier. The author is in an interdimensional war arc that could work well tho shake things up.

Doghunter888

it is an amazing story with some of the best pacing I have ever seen, imo just keep up wahr you are currently doing and I don’t think there will be any problems

Eiv

I would say add more conflict to make readers think more? But then again I love how chill and funny and unique the plot would be. So ignore what I just said.

My feedback: I absolutely love the story and it inspired me to start writing myself. As for what I would improve if I were you? Two things: 1 the fights. They often feel meaningless to me because there is no suspense, we know Jake is going to win (the best fight was definitely against the King because we didn't know if he'd win). 2. The direction of the story and arcs. I really like everything to do with the order and Jake, but I feel like arcs like the Treasure Hunt, Nevermore etc... that are in a closed world are always really boring for people across all stories. It is not something specifically against your story, but the same applies to Dotf too, the Technocrat lab was the least liked arc along with Orom world. I would say focus more on the amazing open world you created, and on exploring it with Jake!

First off, thank you for all you do with this story, I love it. second I preordered the Audible version of book 5 so Yeah! as for thoughts, I have 2, 1) Get this series its own Anime, hot damn that would be amazing. 2) Make your vision into a roleplaying game, this also would be amazing and I would buy it for sure.

Colton Crowley

I just got the coin. Also I just need to mention it but have you considered dictation?

Since i am a bit late to the party compared to your other core readers i feel i have little say in actual story direction and also i like it the way it is so far. The boring parts are perfectly balanced with the jaw dropping moments in my opinion. Can't always be full adrenaline all the time otherwise the story gets bland fast. Just imagining the "hunt them" reaction was enough to make me read that chapter 10 times haha. Also i am bias towards OP MC to piggyback on a previous comment in this thread, since my favorite type of character is Saitama from One Punch Man at least the way he is written. So for me Jake is enough amount of OP. I would argue he needs more from a previous comment i posted that i said the same thing (too many contenders, (SS, Eron, El'Stupid, etc). The only Feedback i would give is that the story will be done to conclusion. A proper thought out ending regardless of how long in the future it will be (the more the better). Also have mercy and if you go on a well deserved vacation, make sure you have some buffer chapters. I would go depressed if i didn't see a chapter coming into my feed. It is the highlight of my day so have mercy my lord:)! Other than that you're doing a splendid work and keep doing it!

Honestly, I really enjoy the world you created I like the storyline around the order and everyone around (snake girl and Assistent, viper, dragons (stupid shits:-)) etc. the most. But just go on like you do and I enjoy the ride along. Also good luck with the house, good for you and I rather like that you get the money you get, cause you produce something, that is “worth” my time…. Instead of a 200mil movie that I watch for 2 hrs and forget afterwards… So you do you and I enjoy your work. P.s. for purely egotistical reasons, take your time and brakes, because no one is happy if you have a burnout.

mrthorwahl

I love the series still and mostly like the pace. I love the side characters and the relationships. The fight scenes are very well written and I enjoy Jake's personal development. I love most things about the series tbh. My only gripe would be overly long dungeon sequences as I feel they dont move the story along as such. Prime examples would be the main sequence dungeons in tutorial (not including the challenge dungeon), the dungeon in Haven and possibly Nevermore arc. Cant really tell yet if Nevermore moves too slowly, but I just want to point out that at least I prefer when dungeon arcs dont drag on too long.

Richard Lee

I would love more dude stories on some of the main shatters, like Caleb... We've seen VERY little off him and what he actually did, or Maria, we know next to nothing about her really.

Hayden Pech

I enjoy the story as it follows Jake 90% of the time, but side stories are pretty cool too! Just do you mate! It’s an awesome story :)

Thomas Payne

I'm really enjoying the story, and I've enjoyed the various directions you've taken on it. Here are some ideas... (from an avid reader but not an author) 1. Spend some post-Nevermore arcs on re-connecting Jake to various characters. Like, have an arc where Jake explores the problems and struggles of Caleb, or the Court of Shadows, or the undead, etc. Let that arc center on those secondary characters and their struggles while Jake is a part of them. Like you did with the Carmen mini-arc. I thought it worked well, and got Jake out of his comfort zone. Note: This is not a recommendation to spend to many chapters in a different POV, just to involve Jake in a different world sorta. 2. Don't be afraid to take Jake in different directions in terms of combat powers. You might want to think about some arcs exploring certain sub-sections of Jake's powers, like you did with the melee development. It is very good that his primordial stuff has a sort of material requirement, it might be fun to somehow work out a way to get Jake out adventuring to collect certain valuable items that can contribute to various developments. 3. The world events are awesome, as is Villie's history and alchemy. There is a lot you can do with alchemy, still, really. 4. There might be an interesting 'mercenary hunter' type arc out there, perhaps if Jake loses control of earth or a home base, where he could travel to interesting places and kill things there. It might be a fun way to have him mixing it up politically as the Chosen is gallivanting around because he wants to hunt crazy monsters but everyone else has stuff going on.

First of all, I really enjoy the story. As to advice, maybe a bit more focus on some of the side characters? Your side characters all feel unique and interesting, and occasional cuts to what they're up to help keep thing from feeling repetitive with Jake. Of course, Nevermore has had a pretty heavy emphasis on them, so my feedback is a bit irrelevant right now, more for when we get back to Jake exploring the world.

Lawrence Dillon

Story is great hasnt lost any momentum, definitely get a cat and name it mushroom

BelligerentGnu

I think the only feedback I have is avoid long stretches of nothing but combat, like the four Forest dungeons and the light tail monkeys. Other than that, keep going as you are!

Keep it up, I'm loving it as much as in the beginning

Tucker Longstroth

Knowing that there is always a Zogarth chapter waiting for me after work keeps me going some days. That being said, enjoy your break. You’ve been going at it non stop for almost half a year. You’re damn cool, but you’re not Jake synchronizing with Sim-Jake for decades cool. It translates into a similar feat to power ratio in my mind. The direction is great. Like others have said, leverage your strong points (good side characters and great, concise fight scenes) properly, and you will have a strong story. The jokes generally land, even on a second read, and the path Jake has walked so far has been a genuine please to experience. You’re doing Villy’s work Zog

Bob Fight

So I suppose I should ask now cause I am pretty sure it’s not happening but is the audiobook for the next one gonna drop at the same time or not am like 90 percent sure it’s not happening but one can hope

Mike

Story is going great. Love it so far. Look forward to seeing how long you can keep it going because I want to see what sylphie can look like as a god. Would love more from her point of view. Also would love some of her parents as I truly love them. I also look forward to seeing more villy hijinks and gods interaction. Plus would love some more loooooot drops!!!

TheRaptorOfHermes

Ree-sylphie. I need a side story of her adventures and maybe a pplushie of her and snek lord

Andy Baker

Have to admit, I have been concerned about the pace myself. If the payoff of the story is achieving godhood, with his present rank and the gulf between ranks, it's going to be a heck of a long time. Assuming that's where the story ends, of course. Now, I'm sure there's some amazing plot twists to skip large chunks of XP, but still it's seemingly a long way to go – so far.

TwistedVanity

I am loving the story, the pace the development everything. I cannot think of a single criticism. You have left seeds for numerous arcs that I am looking forwards too. Ruining more eversmile plans. Vesper and the automaton gods trying to kill her. The new challenge awaiting earth. Etc. I would also like too see Jake upgrading or making more skills. And it would be cool if he casually made another even more powerful sin weapon without thinking. Or an avatar of death weapon? I would also like too see the Vipers old teacher reaching through time to interact directly with Jake as I'm sure you are setting that up. It would be awesome if that in turn impacted on the Vipers earlier development. And his boots, we need to know more. I'm not a big fan of side stories so spread them out with lot of jake between. I am a big fan of making crafting upgrading skills, magic, weapons and gear. If he can add his primeval origins and make awesome over powered weapons or armour or even better his own personal awesome bow.

Rodney

I personally am a fan of all that you're doing. As someone who reads a fair number of cultivation novels that are lengthy like martial world and others The pacing is good because the story doesn't have very many boring spots I guess you could say The only thing I would say is please don't do the thing like many authors of web novels do and rush to the end once you're close to your goal like Warlock of the magus World the author the last I would say 400 chapters put about I would say 7 or 800 chapters worth of information in that to rush to the end and it felt rushed other than that I enjoy the side stories I enjoy all of the setup you're doing for different battles and stuff I would like to see more empire building personally I know Jake doesn't really care for all of that but I would like to see his people Miranda and how he deals with that for sure now that he's the ruler of Earth and him sure he's going to have to have an entire planet as a lab one day and all of that I look forward to seeing that crafting other than that keep up the good work and thank you for the story

elkress

I love the story as much as I did 500 chapters ago and don't see that changing anytime soon. The nevermore arc could be a bit faster ngl but its still fun and a nice respite

Bilal Williams

Thanks for asking our opinion, take care of yourself and you are right I could use another coin or two.

Dalton Brooke

I agree with this. I absolutely love the story, the direction it’s going, everything about. Just worry that by the time he becomes a god it’ll be 10 years from now lol

Seen Death

Glad youre making good money doing something you enjoy and are also good at! Ty for the chapters. Ive been unempoyed for a bit but when i was working the 1 chapter reliably at certain times was a great addition to my schedule lol so im glad we both benefit. As much as ill miss new chapters while ur on break, it is important to take some breaks / enjoy yourself so just keep us posted. Gl on the house!

Im a late reader managed to catch up recently love the world, characters and direction thus far. Only “complaint” I felt Minaga’s labyrinth feels a bit slow, it could be because I couldn’t rush through 10-30 chapters a day for the first time not sure. Can’t wait for the coin, saw the old post showing them off and assumed they were gone forever, I’m happy I got one!

HenryMorgan

Mister Author, the hardest task in writing a novel/series of novels is plotting a satisfactory end. My opined thoughts is that the time to plan the end of this story is while you still love it. Be that in one book or 10. My opinion is that timeskips are required, to slice of life this story till book 100 will just destroy it. You also should experiment with writing some different fictions to diversify. That all being said, if you are making a good living off this story, enjoy what you are doing, then go for that choice as well.

Darrion

Heads or tails, I lose I buy a coin.

Aidan Gorman

I love the series, Like many others have said, just be careful of pacing. Most progression saga authors don't use time skips enough and the readers lose interest. Time skips should become more common and longer duration.

Austin Gillespie

Like a lot of others have said, the only major speedbump I see coming up is it naturally takes thousands of years for even a peak genius to reach S rank, let alone godhood. How old is Jake at this point with time dilation? 150? 200? I imagine that by the time Yip and his chosen have been dealt with and Jake has saddled Miranda with running a few galaxies he’ll be into B grade, and that might be time to do a bit of a time jump to get to the good stuff. And who knows, maybe Jake’s story ends with that conflict. It seems like it could be a natural place to wrap things up as of this point. You’ve set up my personal favorite litrpg system, and there is a ton that can be done within it. Maybe in the next System series we see the Sword Saint and Jake reaching godhood from somebody else’s perspective or something along those lines. Idk, food for thought. I’ve highly enjoyed everything so far, and trust your judgement

TwoMoreYears

I’m loving the nevermore arc and am looking forward to the rest of the dungeon. I know you’ve mentioned in the past some people complaining about chapters from different characters povs but I’ve enjoyed getting my updates on the supporting cast/earth/etc… Good luck with the move!

female person type thing

Long ongoing web novals opinion; you do not need to worry about people slowly lossing interest if the story is to long or ongoing. Espesially since your story is fantabulous. Web novals attrach the same type of people who love manga and comic books. The more people who come across the web noval the more it will grow in popularity. At most true fans will stop reading for a few months then pick it back up later or stop at the begaining of a new arch and pick it up the arch is complete so they do not have to wait for chapter releases. P.S. Love the Coin. good luck on the house.

Ithoughtofsomething

Do a sylphie coin. I'd buy that. Also there's this new thing it's called voice-to-text lol. I was very wary of nevermore: what with me clocking up over 300 hours in Skyrim but thanks for being good at your job I guess. Can't really recommend any changes fuck the haters keep doing what you doing and maybe your buy couple more houses

Michael Willden

Love the story, please keep the chapters coming! Good luck with the house!

Corwin Amber

I agree with all of this. The only thing I would add, is to make sure you have a time skipped epilogue. Or epilogues. It is always enjoyable to see where the character ends up after the end of the story, and possibly where the other characters do too.

Pepper

I don’t think you could really lose the promise of this story unless you fumble the ending or stop altogether. To me the story is jake becoming a equal to villy so what in between is just how his life takes him.

darkhawke

My favorite long-form story (that's completed at least) for pacing is Warlock of the Magus World. It starts out pretty normal in terms of pacing, but obviously going all the way to godhood (and eventually God with a big G) takes a long time. Total timespan of the book is maybe ~20k years? Can't 100% remember now, but I do remember the first major time skip jumped like 100 years. Second one was 500 ish? Then time skips got longer. The important part was that they only ever happened at points where the reader felt like they had a good handle on how progression would go. Natural breakpoints were still written about, so I never felt like interesting stuff was happening off screen. I think ripping the timeskip bandaid off early-ish is good. There's no way to write the really cool big stuff without expanding the timescale and no one wants to read about every single year of a 10000 year journey. Find a natural break point and try out a time skip. In Warlock, the main character also went through several different types of character arcs. Some where he was the wise old master, some where he's the young upstart, some where he's the powerhouse. Timeskips give you ways to write 'different' POVs without really leaving Jake. Godhood jake is naturally not going to be the same as recently system-integrated Jake. Each arc gives the opportunity to keep things fresh for both the writer and the reader. I don't think it's possible to write a mortal to godhood story while only sticking to a single core skillset and keep interest levels up. Also combat and non-combat arcs are great. Once progression starts to slow down, there's lots of opportunity to focus on progress that isn't just kill more stuff, but focuses on Jake's ability with magic or alchemy or something else. I really hope this story goes all the way as the worldbuilding and system foundations you've built are so solid. I want to read the day Jake beats Villy and surpasses him. That's what I feel the goal of the series is. I'll live if we don't get there, but I can't deny I won't feel a little disappointed. I was disappointed Cradle didn't go the full distance either and would love for a western author to finally complete a mortal to godhood progression fantasy series.
