"I'm finished" has a touch of "I've murdered someone, my evil finally manifested in direct and witnessed physical murderous violence; I'm done for." Which feels like a red herring. Rather it always struck me as a riff on "it is finished/accomplished", Christ's dying words. They hit a bit like "now watch this drive".
