Our Superdelegate patron tier was mad as hell that we hadn't yet discussed Sidney Lumet and Paddy Chayefsky's NETWORK (1976) and wasn't going to take it anymore. We watched an American classic and discovered that Howard Beale's famous speech isn't even the most important speech in the movie.

I don't understand why you put Palentine from Taxi Driver in the same category as Bullworth, Robyn Williams in man of the year, Ross Perot, etc. In the movie it seems to me like Palentine is an establishment party hack.

Not that I want or need to defend Andrew Yang. But having dug deep into his Forward Party, there are a few things that I really like about his direction. It doesn't seem like their platform is aiming for higher office, but instead is looking to de-escalate the fringe political voices on the local level. He's right that a lot of local politicians run unopposed, and lack of political engagement float up to the top. Their own website claims they are not running a Presidential Candidate in 2024. So, while we can argue about his politics, creating a space where we can get our local school boards less MAGA, and out medium cities more moderate, I don't seem the harm in him trying.

Fair enough, though I have a more critical view. I may have glossed over it a bit during the ep so here's something I wrote on it where I lay out my criticisms in more detail. https://jacobin.com/2021/10/andrew-yang-forward-party-book-third-way-radical-centrism-platitudes-rhetoric
