Be interesting if Tsunade becomes the 4th Hokage in this timeline. It shocks me to think that she would be easier for Matsu to work with than Minato considering the history they have.

Even if they end up allying with Kiri, Danzo’s still gonna be doing some fuckshit in the background. Well, as long as Tsunade doesn’t smash his face in for defiling her Grandfather’s grave. Orochimaru might be partly responsible too, leading to his exile or death early. I’d love for Tsunade to become the next Hokage, but I don’t see Danzo or the other elders allowing it. As for the conversation with Matsu, I’m kind of curious why Matsu was asking about neurological conditions that have been present since birth. My best and most wild guess would be that he’s trying to treat Gengestu’s fucked up brain. Well, this arc has been a major success for Kiri. Being allied to Konoha will be good for the war, but will also likely paint an even larger target on Kiri for Madara and Zetsu to target. Tsunade might also realize that Madara was never cremated… leading her to wonder what happened to his body, or maybe come to the conclusion that he never died. On an unrelated note, a Kisame POV chapter would be an absolute banger! To see his views on this new Kiri along with how he feels about Matsu would be very entertaining! Thanks for the chapter! It was amazing!

I'm just gonna be blunt, this is the weakest chapter so far. The hunter exams were cool because we had Gon’s perspective seeing it from a third party takes a lot away, Tsunade had no real stakes in the matches outcome and it made a tense situation seem lackluster. Would have rather read it from a participant's pov. Then there was the fact that Danzos students were too stupid to know not to kill their opponents, besides Kiri they are the most likely to know how to torture someone, they should lack eq not iq. Finally, the Tsunade knowledge trade felt slapdash, I don't see Gengetsu going along with it, better to wait for when he is mizukage to try this. Not gonna lie, I also just want to see Matsu fight Konohau and Minato. I really liked how you did Tsunade starting to come to terms with her past, odd it came from Matsu but really well written overall. Thanks for the chapter.

I wonder if that civil war will still happen. The main reason for that was Obito's hate for the "Kiri" Nin that killed Rin. That plan only worked because Jinchuriki are weak to the Sharingan. Matsu has been trained by Gengetsu, has future knowledge and knows more about biology than most. Madara took over Kiri as a crippled old man on Life support. Matsu could one tap him as Mizukage. (It would be funny if anticlimactic)

Yeah, I get that the Minato and Matsu fight is popular. Tsunade is an interesting PoV and I think you're onto something with a potentially better PoV for the exams might have been one of the candidates, maybe even one of the people putting a blade to their throats and demanding others surrender. The trade for knowledge is meant to be a bit slapdash. Matsu wasn't going to get a chance prior to this but then he got to sit down with tsunade twice. the first time he tries to help her cause he knows she's a good person, the seecond time he realsies he can try and effect real change. As much as the readers want the fight to happen Matsu as the MC doesn't want to get into that fight at all, cause Minato and Konoha are scary motherfuckers. He's going to try and evade those fights if he can. Is that going to happen? probably not, not with people like Danzo and Zetsu in the background wanting a fight to play out.

This chapter was okay. The fights were my favorite. Though while i get the reasoning behind Matsu reaching out to Tsunade on knowledge sharing it feels a bit like he was offering way to much at first. While an Alliance with Konoha is possible there are alot of factors against them from internal factors like Danzo in Konoha and probably some group in Kiri, or even just madara and zetsu. However i would bet along along with Kushina there would be a certain female Uchiha thay would be happy about the idea and getting closer to a red haired doctor lol

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for this chapter. I feel some optimism that Tsunade can change Konoha for the better and shut Danzo down perhaps before the warhawk gets crazy sending ROOT to provoke a war.

First off, my condolences to you. I'm sorry for your loss. Secondly, I really liked this chapter. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed this chapter because it had some very solid character moments and interactions between Tsunade and Matsu. The fact that it was from Tsunade's POV makes things more interesting, though, as Tsunade is someone, who while connected and strong, doesn't know Matsu well at first and only knows of him. The fact that she is also his peer in the medical field also creates an interesting connection between the two. Combining all of that together and you get an interesting view on what Matsu seems like to someone who is a veteran shinobi, yet also someone who she can connect with. It is that connection which really resonated throughout the chapter as you could see the way Matsu was slowly breaking down her barriers and getting to her, because he was both different than she expected, yet also so painfully familiar in ways she couldn't have anticipated. The fact that Matsu was the one to help her recover is probably going to cause unexpected butterflies later down the line. Which I am looking forward to. Aside from that, I am very curious to see just what the effects of thus Chunin Exam will be in terms of the political ramifications. As it's clear that Kiri triumphed in spectacular manner, with Matsu elevating his profile most of all. It will be interesting to see if this will cause a change of potential targets among the other Great Villages, as they may start to view Kiri as the hidden threat which needs to either be neutralized or left alone in the coming war. On a side note, though, I am curious, what exactly would Matsu have done if he did successfully hit on Tsunade?

If Matsu was somehow successfull in htting on Tsuande it would've been a dead-end. He is no Mizukage yet and in no position to actually make it a reality.( Maybe a one-night-stand) I am not sure how a cross village relationship would even work. Danzo would do everything in his power to ruin it

Their perspectives would highlight Matsu’s ascent to the Mizukage Advisory Council and clearly track his increasing political influence across the three-year timeskip

Even without Kiri, we can still have a almost canon 3rd shinobi war the main actors were Konoha/Iwa (Yellow Flash) Konoha/Kumo (A and B against Kushina and Minato) and maybe Konoha/Suna (White Fang)

It plays to a lot of expectations im sure are going to be brutally ripped asunder as soon as even the next chapter; what with matsu meeting gengetsu. I really appreciate everyone involved's character growth with this even if it feels like a setup for terrible things to come. I only hope the medics stay friends.

Hopefully we get to explore the world more in the future given there should be plenty of chakra using people realistically, so I'd like to see how other cultures and organizations use chakra. Hopefully Matsu comes up with a longer lasting independent clone that can explore the world like a blood clone too

Ive finally caught up, nearly two and a half days of focusing solely n this story and now i understand why people want more red riot, cause holy shit. Ive only watched the non filler of the OG series around a decade ago or more and a snippet of shippuden, but even with the vague memories this story stands on its own. I'd like to add a Shoto POV to the suggestions where he undertakes an ANBU mission. We've had 3 chunin exams, but not that many actual missions. I think it wouldn't go amiss to give Matsu's inner circle more development, and the chameleons ought to be a game changer for an ANBU-nin too.

I don't understand how can Red Riot be second to pokemon story...Hard Enough story gets twice as much chapters as Red Riot. I would pay extra if it was updated more frequently.

I mean if Matsu is dropping vague hints leading to Danzo and Orochimaru with the Hashirama hints would've liked to see a bolder move. He knows that below Zetsu/Madara which he doesn't have the sealing or power level to deal with Danzo is the next biggest instigator. Offer Tsunade 20 years of non aggression for his head implying it's about Uzushio. That makes a Konoha Kiri Suna block make more sense to outside observers. He's already shifted Kiri nigh bloodlessly and is a Mizukage front runner As an Uzumaki. This guy is giving Aizen vibes to outside political forces right? Suna is too bled out to want to get into a meat grinder and Konoha doesn't want a world where Kiri plays spoiler for a loss to Iwa and Kumo. This way he can stablish a stranglehold on all out war while applying the same national changes on a continental scale.
