Monster Loyalty is a semi-hidden stat, and the exact rules for how it grows and shrinks are currently being messed with. You can find a full description of monster loyalty in one of our earlier art sample post, but a brief recap: Monster loyalty determines if a monster remains with you once their indenture has ended. You can tell the general level of a monster's loyalty from how many hearts are released from their head when you pet them. Even if you max the loyalty on a monster though, you have to have them in your party when you go to manumit them at the Guild on their release day for them to stay with you on your Farm.

zosa

so the monsters are no longer sexable cattle? neat!

Where can you sell the monsters? Breeding and fighting is fun but if you can't get rid of them how can you make room for everyone?

zosa

probably not but the overall implication was that they were. they were captured, taken from their homes, locked up outside and used for labor and procreation. it came off as a bit creepy after a bit of reflection(which is why i stopped testing that part entirely) of course this is as much my own baggage as well, only being two generations away from actual human slavery and being acutely aware of how breeding is currently done in the food and genetics industry. you have to wonder though, if anyone else had the same thoughts or if this is a unique take on things

You can 'release' monsters currently, and we're adding the ability to sell them for the next build.

Will we get a starting monster when we first start the full game or will we keep these four monsters from the beta?
