Happy Thursday Nat. Not watched this one for a while so I can't remember much about it 😊 Well if nothing else, that was certainly a lot of fun watching with you today 😄 No.4 is where the story starts again and you get some consistency with the cast and the style of movie, but they do get bigger and bigger as it goes on. Tokyo Drift is probably the weakest one. This one, I saw with my father in the theaters right after high school. We both agreed that it was dumb fun, emphasis on the dumb! Although, I will say that compared to most of what passes for action movies today, I do appreciate the lack of CGI and the reliance on practical racing. That's something the franchise loses in the future as they view the laws of physics more as guidelines than hard rules.

This one's a lot of fun too. If anything is going to deter anyone it's Tokyo drift. The weakest in the franchise (with the exception of a fan favorite character we meet). The 4th movie is where the franchise becomes self aware.

First off, thanks for this reaction Nat 🙏. I beg you to not give up after Tokyo Drift if you don't enjoy it. Without spoiling anything, it doesn't have the original characters, but it plays a vital part for the future movies if you continue.

This one's a lot of fun especially if you grew up in Miami. If anything is going to deter anyone it's Tokyo drift. With the exception of a fan favorite character we're introduced to it's the weakest in the franchise. The 4th is where the series becomes self aware.

Important things to know about the Fast & Furious movies: 1. Nothing is impossible and the more crazy a thing seems, the more likely it is to appear in one of them. 2. NOS will make any car go impossibly fast, impossibly quickly. 3. There's always a higher gear for them to change into :D

You can say what you want, this will always be my favorite fast and furious movie. And Tokyo Drift I will always dislike. Rewatched alot both of them... still the same opinion, Tokyo Drift to me has trigger points of extreme toxic masculinity that is actually presented as desired by women, while 2 fast 2 furious is just 2 very good friends enjoying a great time and having a wonderful bromance. And it's interesting but these dialogues to me seam more authentic than anything the movies delivered later. Edit: I also want to add there were a lot of scenes that you didn't understand and laughed about that actually were explained. Biggest example I guess is Veronica being wet, cause she swam a lil part to the boat.

Nat, one thing you should rememebr, is these movies are supposed to be chaotic as apposed to realistic. Just dumb fun and you can tell the cast has really enjoys being a part of them. Especially Paul Walker. I say, don't give up in them until after you watch the 7th and final film Paul Walker is in.

This one is one of my favourite for nostalgia reasons even though objectively it is cheesy and kind of badly made. There was a 6 minute prelude short film on YT they released that shows everything that happened to Brian between the first film and the second.

I’ll be the Tokyo Drift defender. It’s the first one I saw so I have a kind of affection for it. Also as fun as the middle trilogy is it’s a mistake to actually think any of them are good. They are only relatively good which means you need Drift as your appetiser to set you up for four. Also that kid’s accent was worth the 10 dollars I probably paid for a ticket back in the day.

Nat, if you'd like to compare and contrast other car centric movies check out the following three: 1. Le Mans(1971) Steve McQueen, 2. Ford v Ferrari 3. Talladega Nights The Ballad of Ricky Bobby - not sure if Will Ferrell is your type of humor.

Ugh, these movies are so ridiculous and dumb. They literally get to the point of driving cars between skyscrapers from window to window. So much better stuff to react to. Is it seriously the plan to do every single one of them?

It’s no secret that these movies are ridiculous and obviously not the greatest but Nat’s biases always heavily influence her reactions. I’ve noticed for a long time that anytime she watches something that she’s heard a lot of good things about or a lot of not so good things about she heavily leans into that for the reaction. Don’t really mind either way myself just something I’ve noticed. Think she might enjoy these movies less than she otherwise would if she wasn’t coming in with biases. Again not to say they’re good movies but I find them pretty fun popcorn flicks with plenty of laughs and entertainment.

The lackluster Bastard sequel of the series. 2 Dull 2 Dumb shouldn't even be apart of the series. They should have ignored this one. Fast 8 9 X are better and F8 F9 aren't that good. Jason Momoa was the only good thing about Fast X. Weird Diesel at the time didn't want to do the sequel and this was the best they could come up with. I can't wait till Tokyo Drift.

I really hope you do consider to keep watching these, I always found 2 and 3 to be a bit goofy but still fun. 4-7 I really enjoy, 4 maybe being the worst of those but still good. They start getting more and more ridiculous but I don’t think it’s all that bad until 8. Still most of these are good movies you should try to enjoy as just some mindless fun

Tokyo is a decent movie on its own. It does have a whole new cast, but without spoiling specifics from later movies, they eventually do link it in with the rest of the series, and it actually works really well once you get the context. It's better than 2Fast for sure. After Tokyo is when the "family" begins and the story starts to come together, and then it's off to the races (pun intended).

2 Fast is usually considered the worst of the series. The third film is a lot better IMO and is the first one directed by Justin Lin (who directed the best entries in my opinion) and the 4th one is when the "family" returns to the series.

After all the credits have rolled on the Blu-ray of the first movie, there is a very short scene of Vin Diesel showing that he is living down Mexico way 😊

Hey Nat, so Tokyo Drift is a different cast but there's one member in particular who will be vital for the next movies (although it was released 3rd, Tokyo Drift is actually set after Fast 6) For credit scenes, I know I said the first one has a post-credit scene but it wasn't important and you didn't miss anything. Fast 5 has a mid-credit scene, Fast 6 has a post-credit (which relates to Tokyo Drift) and there's also post-credit scenes in 9 and 10.

This is definitely generally considered the worst one. Tokyo Drift gets mixed reviews, because it's a completely different cast. However part 4 until like 7 are generally considered the best. So I hope you continue into those, even if you don't like Tokyo Drift a lot.

My nostalgic heart loves 2 and 3 in this franchise even though they might be considered the weakest ones, but please keep the series going, they slowly turn into more of action movie style then racing. I will say Tokyo Drift has the best soundtrack of them all imo. Also even though the crew from the first movie aren't around, 2 and 3 are still part of the family😉

Ha ha dont think it was in 2001. DVDs and laserdiscs were still the format. It came out on blu ray eventually. I watched it on the 20th anniversay edition today 😄

The thing with the fast and furious is that Vin Diesel didn't want to do sequel at the time, not for fast and furious as Dominic Toretto, not for xXx as Xander Cage, not as Riddick after Pitch Black. He didn't want to be type cast and keep trying different roles.

I loved this reaction. I also love this movie. Its corny as heck but its also so nostalgic for me. The post credits scene in the first film just shows Dom driving through Mexico showing that he successfully escaped.

The "nose rings" on the orange '70 Dodge Challenger are actually thin cables holding in hood pins. For a long time race cars used hood pins to hold their hoods on, and some car manufacturers offered hood pins as a "racey" factory option. Terrible movie, but fun reaction Nat!

Everyone's a critic now huh. I remember when we could watch movies for fun and not try to dissect the ins and outs. It's a turn your brain off movie and you tried watching it with your brain at full power which just led to nothing but negative comments the whole time. You're doing way too much plot fixing comments nowadays too and a lot of them don't make sense. Just chill and vibe with something it doesn't have to be a logical masterpiece.

I’ve noticed this trend growing as well. It takes a lot of enjoyment out of a viewing when it’s accompanied by fairly consistent negative and mocking comments. I just don’t see where the fun is in that type of mindset. Buy into a movie for what it is; or if you absolutely know it’s not your thing, avoid it.

That's a great perspective. I had two vocal outbursts during her constantly mocking the actress in the Tokyo Drift reaction. A massive problem for these reactions is she went in with all the negative opinions she's seen others have. I will admit I took offense to her saying the iconic driving backwards sequence should've been taken out of the movie. Shit and the poker game like can we have no fun in our racing movie in Miami ma'am? Her constant predicting the future comments are also becoming another issue. Just wait and watch man ffs. You ruin shit for yourself doing that and in turn ruin it for us. If you ain't got nothing nice to say.. let me watch the movie lol I don't need to hear "BUT WHY" followed by some plot man hole cover statement.

Look, I was a huge fan of this movie when it came out. Must've watched the DVD 20 times at least. But I mean... "iconic driving backwards sequence"? It's a cool stunt, but in the context of the movie its an incredibly dumb thing to do. They're doing a job to stay out of jail and think its wise to goof around on the freeway, endangering themselves and others? Especially right after that dude was definitely crushed to death by that semi. It's fun stunt driving but makes no sense unless the characters are aware they have plot armor. Not everyone is fine with just shutting off their brain and accepting all nonsense that a movie throws at you.🤷
