It's time for another Patreon exclusive reaction! Looking forward to seeing what wins.

Also, please let me know if the English dubs are preferred for some of these and if so, which ones. I believe Grave of the Fireflies is on Netflix so not sure if that English audio is the best version.

Alissonbecker94

Your name for the next poll please 🙏

Yasin

I was hoping for Demon Slayer or Attack on Titan

Beth Brown

Not a fan of anime, which is a massive understatement, but I wanna recommend Sopranos and Ash vs Evil dead .

Gavinmc

I almost picked Grave of the Fireflies just to ruin your makeup…but picked Nausicaa as it’s the weirdest of the bunch, and what really started Ghibli. But Kiki winning would be fine. It’s the cutest of the list

Baggie Mark

Wow a surprise poll, we are lucky golden Nuggets 😁. I don't know much about any of these, so I'll pick one at random lol.

Nick Freer

Please put Your Name, on the next poll

Brant Campbell

Oh she's going to love Kiki's. "What if a movie was just like getting a warm hug and a cup of cocoa". That's Kiki's.

Galleon

Anyone who picks Grave of the Fireflies is a sadist

Jason Dolan

People are always sleeping on Nausicaa

Shaun Bloom

I hope Kiki wins. I've been lucky enough to see a local screening of this amazing film.

Darryl Low

Happy Saturday Nat. Enjoyed hanging out with you and everyone on the livestream last night 😊 All these anime movies are an education for me as I've not seen any of them. Will go with Kiki this time around. Enjoy your weekend Nat 💛

Matt Even

Kiki’s dub isn’t bad. But I agree with the others in the comments here, Your Name on your next poll would be amazing

Daniel Amaral

The Netflix version of Grave of the Fireflies has the Sentai dub, which is better than the earlier CPM dub, but it's still just fine. Nothing really noteworthy about the performances.

Wesley

All of these movies are perfect in my opinion, you wouldn't be wasting your time watching any of them. I think the Japanese Dubs are best, doubly so for Grave.

Rime Pendragon

Look, I'm not going to watch Grave of the Fireflies again.

Kubochaan

All of these are great! Would also recommend Your Name!

Eric Janssen

I never watched it more than once, because it was muddled, pointless, handwringing, and made the character a completely unsympathetic brat by the time we were supposed to tragically care about him. (Look, you only watched it because some other fan told you to watch it, because some fan told him to watch it, because some old-school 90’s fan remembered the first anime VHS he ever found on the shelves at Blockbuster. 🙄

Eric Janssen

I remember back when we thought you “couldn’t” recommend Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer to a new reactor because they’d “never heard” of the show the characters came from. One remake on YouTube later… 😉 (We’re also waiting for “Sailor Moon R: Promise of the Rose”…Oh, like nobody’s heard of THAT one.)

Matheus Leopoldino

I never get to the end of grave of the fireflies, that kills me inside

Jason Gillman

Oh baby, Kiki’s time to shine!

nicholas ch

dang naussica is my fav. hope it wins in the futures

Eric Janssen

Speaking of anime on Netflix, we DO know there’s a full-length Ranma 1/2 Movie somewhere out there for the reacting, don’t we? 🐼. https://youtu.be/fhHZo7bm9KQ?si=stwK44ZUDxonmNOR (Okay, two, but the second one’s best forgotten.)

Edward Rahardjo

I reluctantly recommend Graveyard of the Fireflies to someone as they will surely hate me forever, but it's really a movie that shows the range of emotions anime can reach, and as such I recommend it to everyone and accept the hate wholeheartedly

djKENTO

Porco Rosso is an anti-fascist so he always gets my vote.

Christian Rennie

Grave of the Fireflies is a must see for many reasons and is arguably Studio Ghibli's best movie and easily one of the top 100 of all movies of all time. But I agree (with others) you will have strong emotions for anyone that suggests for you to see it. I've seen it and, for Nat, will brave to see it again. My second pick is Valley of the Wind.

Path

guys kiki is cool but please let her watch grave of the fireflies cmon

Adam Doyle

Kiki's is so cozy and sweet. A refreshing change from life these days. Is not mind bending or intense orl violent, Just a cute story.

Adam Doyle

Plus the English dub is quite good with the star talent of Kirsten Dunst and Phil Hartman and others

Yani Dodge

Oh yes!! I feel like Nat is going to love Kiki :D

Josh R

I know Kiki will win and I have a tattoo from the movie but I hope Laputa wins one day!

Erik Stevenson

All are Ghibli so all are good, and I'm not mad at Kiki running away with it haha. But voters should just know they're missing out on one of the best lines in Ghibli - "I'd rather be a pig than a fascist" by leaving Porco Rosso behind in dead last. Looking forward to Kiki though and thanks Nat for continuing to do some Patreon exclusives, it's a fun club.

justajester

I Still wish for millenium actress it was literally my childhood. Still I am the only one asking fof it

Michael Lee

If you ever see Grave of the Fireflies know it was originally shown as a double feature with Totoro. No, I do not know which was shown first.

PIG

Looks like we’re all going easy on her.

Jacob King

Porco Rosso is literally my favourite movie so I’m biased.

Athenor

Ouch pitting my favorites against each other. Oh well whoever wins will be enjoyed at least :)

Thoko

I haven't heard of any of these unfortunately

K

I hope you watch Grave of the Fireflies. Everyone should watch this movie at least once in their life. 🙏

AlimarM

I hope she gets to series one of these days. There's a lot of good series out there that isn't really episode heavy like most Shonens. Also Grave of the Fireflies needs to be watched at least once but I guess it isn't winning.

Mr. Bundy

I’d love to see Porco Rosso, but I think Kiki’s should be watched first… For Ghibli, you keep making them we’ll keep watching them!

Elle

Also recommending Your Name and A Silent Voice for the next anime movie polls! As for sub/dub for Kiki, the english dub isn’t bad (though I grew up watching it so there’s probably some conditioning at play there). There is a mild script change at the end of the english, as well as added dialogue throughout (because western audiences aren’t used to sitting in quiet moments), so if you want it 100% as originally intended then go with the Japanese.

Eric Janssen

Nope: The dub had to be changed from the 90’s VHS, since Ghibli’s strict “No cuts” rule applied to “No additions” as well. The DVD dub’s still the same, but losing Phil Hartman’s ad-libbed lines (“Well, Hello Kitty…”) and the added background dialogue, and the new English OP and ED songs were replaced with the original Japanese.

Elle

Depends on where you watch it I guess, because Canadian Netflix still has “Soaring”, the ad-libs and the alternate Phil Hartman ending lines.

Maia Wilson

Why isn't "Your Name" on this list?!?!!

Myllyon

Porco Rosso most underrated Ghibli film

Geoffrey Mason

I will never stop supporting Nausicaa. I will die on this hill

Kyle Turning Robe

You should watch Wolves Children its such a beautiful anime movie like those of studio ghibli but wasn't made by them but it has very similar feel to it.

here's hoping castle in the sky gets its day
