Happy Tuesday Nat. Excited for more Daredevil today 😊 Thanks for another great reaction today Nat. I'm loving this new series so far. I enjoyed the scene at the cemetery between Fisk and the police commissioner a lot. The new supporting characters are really different and add a lot to the drama 😊

Daredevil has quickly become one of my favorite Marvel heroes. Charlie Cox has reached the same level as Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine, I couldn't really see anyone else play the character.

Yeah, while I think daredevil s3 was the best season, as of born again e4, it’s hard to rationalize why anyone would need to watch all 3 seasons to watch this show

Really? It's undoubtedly a continuation. There's clearly background on Fisk and Murdock and Dex you would be missing out on. And if you'd seen up to Born Again episode 4, you'd be totally clueless about some characters who appear. Also, the season's not finished yet.

Literally none of those characters have any arcs carrying over from s3. Karen & foggy were cut out for no good reason (& replaced by dei cutouts) but what has Vanessa done that resonates with her previous activity

It’s 100% attached and a continuation from season 3. Just like 9 years later including going through the blip. Already you wouldn’t have known dex or why the original 3 were working together at the beginning. Also season 3 had vanessa begin to get involved with fisks criminal empire.

First thought was Disney trying to be greedy and sloppy by having their cake and eating it too. They wanted Charlie as Daredevil to attract the audience but wanted to do their own story without worrying about continuity. The only reason they were in episode 1 was because of fan outrage otherwise they’d be out altogether. Saying “DEI” is lazy, a cop out, and immediately invalidates your argument. Do better.

For the continuity part, everything is still fully connected. All the emotions, character stories, history between characters are still a thing. The thing that does change is marvel wanted to be able to tell their own story without being locked with existing stuff. So they link it with the original by showing they're still close after the end of season 3 then they have Foggy killed and Karen move away. Now that everyone is happy they can mostly tell a new story without worrying about the past too much. They use all of it as motivation to push their new story. It's not bad, so far I like it. I'm also expecting to see Karen again at some point, either by the end of the season or in the next Punisher project.

I don't quite get the sentiment of "if I just watched daredevil season 3 and it doesn't connect to this I'm going to be mad" It was peak writing and you clearly enjoyed it.

The answer to some of the questions you've had about the show is that there were massive reshoots. The original version of the production went terribly because Disney had tried to do its own thing. They eventually hired the original show runner from the Netflix series and began to retool the show and do reshoots. I cant say much because of spoilers but one I can mention is that Karen and Foggy weren't even in the original version all of their stuff is late stage reshoots.

I’m enjoying Born Again, but not nearly as much as DareDevil season 3. They seemed to have almost completely abandoned the religious tones. Which in my opinion, helped elevate season 3 so much. I’m not even religious, but I found that part of what made season 3 better the previous 2 for me was honing in on Matt’s battle with religion which is a key trait to this superhero story that helps separate him from other superheroes. And I know marvel is trying to do the whole Trump/Fisk comparison, but it’s just tiring at this point. I do hope it gets a season 2 though because it has such great potential.

Marvel is coming back to it's best again little by little. Deadpool and Wolverine was a big step forward. Captain America Brave New World isn't great but not bad. Still worth it. I feel it will kick up more with Fantastic Four this summer and then the Avengers Doomsday. Not sure how I feel about The Thunderbolts yet

Here is simple (Not so simple) explanation for the question you are wondering. This is exactly same universe and timeline as main MCU. The fact is Daredevil season 3 takes place before events of Infinity War, 2018. Then the blip happened and it got forward 5 years. After Endgame it was 2023. So now time has passed and Born Again is taking place in 2025. So only unexplained things are did Fisk and Matt blip away. It seems that they didn't because there is no mention of it. Another unexplained thing is how Fisk got out of prison. Most likely reason is that he bribed himself out of prison. So originally back in 2015 when Daredevil season 1 aired, Kevin Feige said it is part of MCU. But now that Daredevil is back there was confusion if Born Again is same as Netflix. And now it is. Kevin Feige made it official. So don't be surprised if you see other Netflix characters in future, like Luke Cage or Jessica Jones.
