Lol the old lady was just eating people, it had nothing to do with the meat. That was the red herring. The "secret" they were all hiding just turned out to be that "doublemeat" has no meat. The old lady eating people was coincidentally the reason employees were disappearing

There’s SO much to unpack here but I think it’s so important to note how insidious the villains were this season. They’re silly and lame, they’re just nerds. It’s played for laughs. Until Katrina says, “it’s rape” and you realize that Warren is a violent misogynists who just mind controlled his ex girlfriend so he could own her forever, because she has the audacity to leave him. The Buffy writers were calling out the misogyny in nerd culture before “incel” was a term. Some really brilliant ideas in Season 6, even though in execution it can be a bit patchy. Meanwhile what they’re doing with Spike is wonderful to watch. He really does love Buffy and we can see him be right sometimes (her fast food job really is killing her) and really wanting to protect and love her while also just being incapable of understanding the sort of higher morality that Buffy operates with. She can’t let herself love him, because he isn’t a good person, but he can’t see that—he’s incapable of seeing it.
