This installment is of the Santa Clause franchise is just ok. One thing I think could have been an improvement is if, by undoing Scott becoming Santa, but still remembering he was; Scott goes back to being Scott and we see who he'd become 12 years later. Meanwhile, Lucy, Charlie Laura and Neil, possibly Carol, find themselves unaffected by the changes - maybe because they're in the "eye of the storm" when the changes happen. But we follow them for a little bit as they experience all the changes of a world where Scott Calvin isn't Santa. That's where I'm not sure about Carol being among the unaffected, because we could see her back in her old life, unhappy. Maybe visiting her parents who are trying to set her up with someone. It's all very "It's a Wonderful Life". Anyway, they eventually find Scott and he's lonely and dismissive of them. He hasn't had 12 years of being close with Charlie or having the better relationship with Laura and Neil; he never fell in love with Carol or experienced the joy of being Santa. But just as they're about to give up hope, Lucy's begging Scott to remember; and she gives him a hug - something passes over him and he kneels down beside her and smile; and says, "I told you your hugs are magical." And then from there the movie could more or less play out as it originally did. It would just set the stakes a little; and kind of underscore for the audience how far Scott has come since the first movie. Maybe cut the schtick with them pretending the North Pole is Canada. 🤷‍♂️
