Whoa! Did I somehow predict you would watch this or was it just dumb luck? LOL

Lynnetta

Yes!!! So excited for this one!!

Bill Bevins

Billy Crystal is so funny. Other movies of his you should watch are City Slickers and Analyze This. Yes! You definitely need to watch Casablanca. The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity are also good movies you need to check out. Good rom-com from the 70s is Annie Hall.

ingibingi2000

I'll have what she's having is the director's mom

Bill Bevins

Mallomars are cookies that consists of a round graham cracker cookie that has a mound of marshmallow on it and it's covered in dark chocolate. Very popular in the northeast in the 60s. In other parts of the country they have a hole in the middle and are known as Pinwheels.

Two Cents Magoo

Ash is loving Meathead and she doesn't realize it yet!

Tyler Foster

Thrilled to see this and even more happy to see you loved it!

Tyler Foster

Also, I sent you a technical DM on Instagram regarding DVD and Blu-ray that might be important for any fans sending you discs. After I sent it, you said in the Live you were going to go back and read all the chat comments so maybe you saw it there too, but I had DMed you because it seemed like it'd be easy to miss.

Jerrod Acree

Hilarious. Great film.

So happy you liked it after we built it up so much! This was my go-to Thanksgiving movie for many years. Really glad you appreciated the quick wit.

Billy Crystal in CITY SLICKERS is good too. You may have heard him in animated movies, like Monsters, Inc. where he voiced Mike Wazowski (also good).

Gio Vidrio

Okay I’m sorry but I enjoyed the personal exchange between Editing & Movie Watching Ashleigh. 🤣 Great choice to start Valenbeans.

The stories the older couples told were true. Initially, they filmed the real couples telling them, but they were too stiff on camera, so they got actors to tell them instead.

Michael Johnson

I'd recommend the film Frankie and Johnny with Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer. Think you'd like that romantic drama/comedy

Edward Olson

And the same director (Rob Reiner - pronounced Rye-ner) as The Princess Bride. And Billy Crystal was the old wizard Miracle Max (in makeup) in The Princess Bride. Rob Reiner was married to Penny Marshall (Laverne from Laverne & Shirley) from '71 to '81 and they both ended up as great directors in the 80s and 90s. You'll see more of their movies as they are responsible for a lot of classics.

Another Meg Ryan recommendation You've Got Mail (1998)

ingibingi2000

The director of this film is Rob Riener, his dad carl is BFFs with mel brooks

Be Kind

Holy crap! I forgot he directed AFGM. And MISERY and The Sure Thing, a childhood fav. Seems he’s doing more acting these days, but man, mid-80’s/early 90’s, he was on fire. 🔥

Be Kind

Mr. Zero knew.

Edward Olson

The title of this movie during production was "Harry, this is Sally."

Mark Sylvester

You are so right! Ash is way into Meathead. Who gets to try to explain to her who Meathead is. NOT IT!!!

Mark Sylvester

I would like to hear Ashleigh's opinion of Archie! She said she would be open to TV shows but All in the Family might be to much for her.😁

Be Kind

Maybe you were thinking of Billy Idol (“White Wedding”)?

Kate Cassidy

You know this is the same director as The Princess Bride, right?

ingibingi2000

i heard her say shed do tv, old tv wasn't serialized so no need for order she might be able to pull up lists of must see episodes for big shows and do a poll on that

Thomas Ivie

Rob Reiner also directed the cult classic This Is Spinal Tap. When you finally watch it, I predict you'll rate it an 11!

Nessa Arandur

I recommend A Fish Called Wanda for a heist movie with some quick witted comedy.

Be Kind

During the livestream, she said it was coming. Didn’t say when but I believe she’s planning comedies for April maybe?

Be Kind

I knew you would like this one for the comedy especially. (If you didn’t, I’d be lost in what to rec for you.) But you seemed to enjoy the rom-com aspect too. Why did I have the impression you did not like rom-coms? 🤷‍♀️

Be Kind

I’d put POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE (1990) on the list for comedies. Adapted from the novel written by Carrie Fisher that’s loosely based on her life. Carrie was an amazing writer w/very smart, witty dialog. She wrote some of the screenplay also and was known as a script doctor in Hollywood. (Would punch-up others’ scripts to make them better.)

JuneBug_TX

Steve Martin "The Jerk"...a great love story....and the funniest movie ever made.
