Tbf to Magny, he was doing a solid job of getting Matthews down. Matthews didn't seem to have much ability to stop the wrestling outside of threatening the guillotine choke, which simply isn't acceptable in 2025 at this level of MMA. It was like Poirier took control of him every time a takedown was threatened. He did fail the Magny IQ test with those low kicks though. I was worried when he landed two early, I thought he knew the "secret" to beating Magny....then Magny made him miss one and Matthews basically never went back to it again.
