Sanda loves the side kick and spinning attacks, and you can see this in just about every fighter that comes out of China with a bit of sanda experience, but the difficulty has always been playing those kicks off a more orthodox kickboxing style.  We discuss how Weili Zhang combines the more upright, square on style of kickboxing with an affinity for the side kick and back kick.

Michael Bisping called Sanda Wushu about 10 times on DWCS. I think they are different right?

I think it's considered a form of wushu. I've heard it mostly referred to as Wushu Sanda. IDK, i'm sure there are many books that try and fail very hard at explaining all the complex lineages and interrelationships between various Chinese martial arts. Would be an interesting episode for the history podcast if Ol' Jacky could make it comprehensible for us filthy casuals.

OK I didn't know that, but yeah that would be a cool episode. Maybe something on military martial arts too. Like weapons and stuff.
