Now the big mystery: How could someone who was born in 1767 know a song that was written in 1907? As an avid book reader, I have absolutely no F*****g clue. Off the rails here. This plotline was not in the books. So STARZ is deviating from the books to set up a plotline for the series conclusion because the book series's author, Diana Gabaldon has not finished the series. Did you notice that the woman in the locket had red hair? Did you notice the mother of the two little girls in the beginning of the episode also had red hair. Jane had dark red hair. And if you go back and look at the portrait of Ellen MacKenzie Fraser that Brianna was looking at, the portrait looked eriely like Jane. So yes, they are setting up a storyline for season 8. This episode was a major tear-fest. Jane's death was very sad. Rollo's death was worse because he had been around for 13 years (their time 1766 to 1779) and was a very familiar character (like when Murtagh died). Your reaction to this episode was very understandable. Overall, we celebrate Claire surviving and William coming to Jamie for help. And we morn Jane and Rollo. Also, the young lady playing Frances Pocock was extremely good.
