Hey Evie, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. And yeah, this is one of those movies that rewards you on re-watches. You catch little things you missed and see them in a different light knowing what's going on. Very early on the reaction, you casually mentioned whether Borden has a twin brother but the movie keeps you guessing and throwing so many things that you just forget. Like even Cutter tells Angier that Borden uses a double but Angier refused to believe in the "simple" trick and obsessed over it basically causing the events of the film. I think Angier chose the 100 performance limit for 2 reasons: a big enough number to expect Borden to show up and then "entrap" him for his "murder". The other is because, in a way, he was splitting his "soul" each time he did the trick so I think he gave himself an upper limit. At the end, you could tell that he didn't enjoy doing the trick. And he died surrounded by all of his clones he created and murdered !! The Prestige was the fifth movie by Christopher Nolan. It released the year after "Batman Begins", his first blockbuster and couple years before "The Dark Knight", his other blockbuster. This is probably why it isn't known that well or talked about. I think it's easily one of his best movies. Since you said you enjoy movies that make you think, you should definitely watch all of Christopher Nolan's films. All of them are very well made and worth watching at least once just for the experience. Maybe once you catch up with MCU, make it into a Christopher Nolan week ? Should be fun. Here's his movies split into genres. # Drama Memento (2000) Dunkirk (2017) Oppenheimer (2023) # Action Batman Begins (2005) [movie 1 of 3] The Dark Knight (2008) [movie 2 of 3] Inception (2010) The Dark Knight Rises (2012) [movie 3 of 3] Tenet (2020)
