I’m just gonna paste my comment here and you can just answer the ones you didn’t talk about during your reaction since I haven’t finished it yet 1. Danger sense gets stolen which is pretty since the only way the other vestiges would have a warning before one of them gets take by shigaraki would be danger since so if he tries to take another quirk again the vestiges won’t know until the moment it happens 2. I absolutely love Dekus affirmation that Shigaraki is still a person even after everything and that too his core he is focused on saving him 3. Do you think there plan will work and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the possibility of Deku having to give up One For All 4. We get too see one of Deku’s most iconic panels and also hear Shigaraki say he doesn’t look anything like a hero which also is a reference back to in the dark hero arc/ villain hunt arc in season 6, where he was walking down the street and we had the civilians monologuing about how he is also covered in blood and dirt and how he doesn’t look anything like a hero 5. Which quirk do you think we be the worst to for Deku to lose in his current situation because I think it is very easily black-whip with how much he relies on it and because of its sheer versatility of what it can do

I feel that Smokescreen(the red guy) concerns are valid because to him if they lose Ofa then it’s over no one can stop Shigaraki, and I love how he feels he is the least useful at the moment and we even see that shinomori pushed him out of the way of getting taken at the start probably makes him feel even more guilty

On some level I do agree with shiggy, that deku is trying to force Shiggy to conform to his world view. Deku is trying to force shiggy to relieve his trauma, he wants to revert shiggy to the time of the trauma. Trauma doesn’t always need to be “conquered” sometimes it’s okay for it to be just filed away and trying to move on and I think once Shiggy fully remember what happened, that’s his choice to make. It’s a very hard situation, on one hand I understand deku genuinely wants to save shiggy like anyone else but on the other I do feel like it is a somewhat selfish pursuit. Sure deku hasn’t had the proverbial gun to shiggys head and chose to not fire, deku is still struggling to even damage shiggy. But deku is risking at the very very least all of Japan, a goal im not even sure most of the hero’s would agree with. No matter how noble the goal, it’s a fact deku is risking the world for a personal want. Lastly. With shiggy saying he’s no longer human and deku saying he is. I actually think they are both right, I think it’s a delineation that both of them can make, if shiggy calling himself not human makes him feel better, I don’t have a problem with that. Same with deku, if calling Shiggy human helps him in some way I say go for it. What do you guys think

It's funny how you say that you think Danger sense would be the worst to lose when I think the answer is easily Black-whip, deku wouldn't be able to fight anymore without it we even see him struggling to get up off the ground until he wraps it around his forearms to assist like HE IS LITERALLY PUPPETING HIS OWN BODY TO MOVE USING IT like that is crazy

I absolutely love Shigaraki's appearance this season I love how they are animating his hair and I love how his physique looks, he is so muscular but in a way like he doesn't have any bodyfat, like when you look up an image of the human bodys muscle, especially his chest its like you can see the way his muscle tendons are stretching over his pecs

2. I also like how immediate his response is. It's not even a question for deliberation. No dramatic pause, nothing. 3. I don't know about the technicalities of the powers or the specifics of the plan itself, but I do think it feels right that Deku would give up everything he treasures, including his own life, for whatever he thinks is in line with his ideals of heroism. The show initially carried the question of "what makes someone a hero?" And now that (I feel) we have a definitive answer that it's NOT the quirk, it makes sense why Deku would be willing to part with it if it meant doing something in the spirit of true heroism. There also has been a lot of exploration of all for one and one for all... I think ultimately all of those things have so many compounding meanings (for example here it's a weird, positive version of all for one since they're ALL risking everything for ONE Shigaraki), but that ultimately it's going to be all for all in some combination of powers. Giving it to Shigaraki might be an interesting way to explore that. Also put very basically it just proves his theories about the world wrong.

There was a lot of complaining about the direction this ending goes when the manga first released, but I for one have ALWAYS thought it was exactly what this show was leading up to all along. Of course One For All has to be "sacrificed". It's time has come, first in the thematic sense of the All Might model of one dude single-handedly holding up all of Japan. But also in terms of it's "purpose" to defeat All For One now that he's gone and just his quirk stands in the way. And despite all that Deku sees it first and foremost as the manifestation of trust in him from his hero. It's heartbreaking to have to give something like that away but it shows just how far Deku is willing to go for a SHOT at helping Shigaraki. If I ever had to define the core idea of MHA in one word I think it would be "trust". I could dedicate a multi-hour long analysis to all the different ways this idea manifests in the show but I won't go into that here. I think it's, ultimately, a kind of trust that Deku is showing Shigaraki here to even attempt such a thing. Like he's betting EVERYTHING on the idea that after this gambit, when he has nothing left, no physical power to stand guard with: That Shigaraki will choose not to destroy the world. This plan isn't a physical attack, if it doesn't "work" and Shigaraki isn't moved by Deku reaching out, then it's the worst case scenario. Really fascinating stuff. Only Deku lol (my GOAT)

The thing you mentioned about “filing away” trauma to move on is that the villains haven’t done that & that’s why we’re at this point. Filing away is basically processing. As an example, PTSD happens when the brain can’t properly process or file away traumatic memories & they become stuck. The treatment is the reprocess them properly. Shigaraki is in total denial. He rewrites the story he tells himself to warp the image. We saw his backstory & how the killing of his family was a horrific tragedy that emotionally scarred him. But then we hear him afterwards saying he wanted to do it & it wasn’t a tragedy. He also keeps trying to affirm he’s free & liberated when he’s the complete opposite. He’s insisting there’s no crying child inside of him & that he’s no longer human because that’s a more convenient truth for him. It would be easier to be the monster of the story. But we all know it’s not true. Deku’s way is idealistic (& in real life would be a disaster, but this is anime so…) but he’s right. He’s refusing to accept Shigaraki’s false narrative. He’s been listening to- he heard Shigaraki say heroes ignore the people they hurt, so he wants to do the opposite & uncover the real Shigaraki. This entire final war has basically been trying to save people who are too traumatised to accept it. Dabi convinced himself he can’t & “doesn’t feel anything anymore” but cried after his family finally saw him. Toga convinced herself the world had no place for her & no one really cared but gave up her life when she someone gave everything for her. Shigaraki is next, basically.

One thing about Danger Sense guy (Shinomori), it’s kinda poetic that he’s the only one who never fought AFO because he lived in hiding the entire time he had OFA & now he’s the one that saved all the others & sacrificed himself against Shigaraki (who has AFO).

Haha yeah I think it's one of those things where you're like No!!! But also... absolutely yes. And that fits with the world of MHA. It's not gonna be easy, it's gonna take a lot of work, and it's gonna hurt. But if you can't sacrifice for the good can you even call yourself a hero?

I didn’t initially think I’d have too much to mention musically this episode, but I noticed something while watching today. The music that plays at 23:23, when Kudo asks Deku to give up One For All is the same, or a slight variation of the theme that plays when Lemillion fights quirkless against Overhall to defend Eri. I would never have initially thought to use it here, but some legend at Bones made an excellent call, as I honestly can’t think of a better choice. Kudo is literally asking for Deku to become quirkless again, so what better choice than a theme that previously played for a quirkless hero?

So one of the manga chapter title this episode adapted is the History's Maddest Hero (according to wikia), which refers to Izuku of course but in japanese, the word saikyo can be the greatest or the craziest. I always like that.

I love how the show has me flipping back and forth between who I'm more scared of, Shigaraki or AfO. "AfO who?" was very spot on, Shigaraki is so terrifying right now. But I'm also kinda moved by the fact that Spinner's devotion to Shigaraki is not one-sided, surprisingly it goes both ways. But man, this episode is so tense! The loss of Danger Sense makes everything so much more scary, even though I'd argue there are worse ways this could have gone. Personally, I'm most emotionally invested in Blackwhip, actually, just coz it was the first we unlocked, Deku uses it a lot so it has become part of his signature style, and I like Banjo. Do you have a favorite among them? The Quirks, I mean. Or hell, the other holders too, why not? I think this situation is probably a direct callback to Hawks killing Twice. Hawks made the call and it was rational, but it felt emotionally wrong. Deku's choice feels right emotionally, but it is deeply irrational, not something that would translate well into the real world. Makes for a more satisfying story though! ;P Giving up OfA hit me really hard, I didn't see it coming even though, in retrospect, it makes so much sense... It really hurts, but in a good way also? I honestly thought Deku would struggle more with the concept. I guess he never really saw it as his quirk, more like carrying on the torch from All Might. I wonder if it would have made a difference if he would have had it for longer, maybe he would have come to accept it as part of himself the way All Might eventually did? It's tragically beautiful.

For some reason I was attached to Danger Sense :D But I like Kudo after this recent string of episodes. Interesting that you mentioned Hawks here, in the next episode he even has some reflection about it.
