HII GUYS

THE REACTION YOU’VE ALL BEEN RECOMMENDING.. A SILENT VOICE

Going into this I had NO IDEA that it would get THAT heavy and that bad. I thought it was just a story regarding redemption but… it really, really went further than that and addressed internal conflict that I feel like everyone has within themselves to a certain degree :’(

Anyway, enough heavy, you’re about to witness some more of that with the reaction LOL

I hope you guys enjoy the reaction, and let me know what you think about the film and any cool things I obviously missed!!! :))

Enjoy!~

YESS!!! In the US dub version, they cast Lexi Cowden, an actor who's deaf, to play Shoko. She did a great job lending her voice to the character.

Thanks I needed to cry again

Sawlid reaction 💯 The movie was about miscommunication more than anything. The point of the film was all of the characters were dealing with their own personal issues and chose to go about it by blaming/hating themselves or they blamed others. The idea of change can only happen if the person wants to change and everyone by the end found a way to communicate better or change how they went about things ever so slightly.

This movie is definitely one of my favorite movies. It deals with issues you normally wouldn't see or tackle in an anime film, such as bullying, anxieties, insecurities and depression. To start, Shouya isolated himself and shut himself from the world because of what he did to Shoko, thus developing social anxiety. He knows he doesn't deserve redemption, that's why in the beginning he was on the verge of killing himself. As for Shoko, her character definitely got me in the film. Because of her disability, she struggles to make friends throughout her life and blames herself for it. Both wanting to end things at certain point in their lives, instead found each other to live, support each other to face their own personal issues, learning to forgive themselves and others in the process. It's something that everyone can relate to. Great reaction as always!! Can't wait for the next one!!!

I hadn't interpreted it that way, I considered it to be more of a process that each individual has to come to terms with regarding their own set of flaws and issues, and basically how to grow from them and be different. I never thought of it as a way of miscommunication but it works so well and I NOTICED THAT especially when people were always speaking individually and spreading rumors almost. THANK YOU for the insight Reuben!! I can think of the film in a new angle now. :)

Francis I love the way you summed up their characters and how their journey ended up at the end of the film. I never realized it was social anxiety, I thought he CHOSE that route so that was nice to touch upon. :) I hadn't even realized him attempting suicide was because of what he did to Shoko. I'm glad the film ended the way it did and that they grew our of their dark thoughts. It's almost like a message to those struggling, that it does get better no matter how low it gets. You just have to hold on and have hope. I really loved it. Thank you Francis!! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it ❤️

That is indeed true too. The movie was about alot of things. But if you think about it Shoko wouldn't have gotten to the point of trying to kill herself had Shoya actually talked to her about how he felt and listened to her on her feelings. She was giving signs of something wrong with her fake smile and telling him that he wouldn't be happy if she stayed with her. Those were clear signs that she wasn't doing ok, but Shoya didn't respond or try to listen as all he could think about is the fact its his fault she's unhappy and how he could make her happy instead of actually getting their feelings in order. Glad you enjoyed the movie tho 💯 its that type of movie you can rewatch over and over again. The ending always kills me and the tears start flowing cos you're just so happy for Shoya finally moving on from the past.

I mean if you wanna cry again lol. I always re-watch in dubs so I can fully focus on the movie for its visuals.

There's more stuff that I wanna say but that'll be another paragraph but no problem! Glad you were able to enjoy the film!!

I shed some tears reading this manga years ago. Was afraid of watching this animation version of it as I remembered it being very deep psychological story. Happy I checked it out with your reaction. It's sad how the bullying backfired on him and he shut himself out totally from other people. Good thing compared to some other sad stories that this had happy ending. Japanese stories so many times have really sad ending, thankfully this isn't that kind of story ending =)

vkunia

I'm beginning to realize that as well :) I'm so glad it turned out how it did, and it is sad. But at the same time it might have also been the main thing that pushed him to reflect and change those things about himself.

This movie hits way too close to home for me on a variety of levels. It's so well done, and your reactions to it were phenomenal. Also, can I be the person to mention a little detail in this that so many pieces of media miss out, and that's that Shoko's arm was injured from being caught? Like, really, a super easy detail to miss, but helps hit a little harder about the reality of what happened. I love it

vkunia

I thought I'd noticed that but honestly overlooked it. Thank you for your thoughtful comment Ryan 🤗 It really was a heartbreaking story but I'm so glad it ended happily. ❤️
