A note on the terms witch and warlock: I use witch as a gender-neutral term. That’s the way I’ve been taught by those I know who identify with the term, and the way I understand it personally. I also use warlock as a gender-neutral term, although it has different connotations than ‘witch’. The word ‘warlock’ is often used in a negative way, but I know recently some people have had a desire to reclaim it and identify with it in their particular religious or spiritual practices. But for the purpose of this fictional story, I’ll be using it in the older sense, which is to denote someone whose actions have landed them outside of the trust of other witches. I love incorporating different ideas, beliefs, and experiences into my stories. But do remember that they are fictional stories for the purpose of entertainment. I don’t want to speak for groups who are able to speak for themselves, so if you’re curious about these terms and how they are used in various circles, please refer to the members of those belief systems.
